    How do you prepare tuna?

I put low fat mayo and relish- maybe just the relish would be good.

    Ritz Crackers and laughing Cow

I eat wheat thins or trisquits. They are both 100% whole grain and baked. I don't think that's true for ritz. Love laughing cow cheese- 35 cals a wedge, can't beat it!
  3. Contact your surgeon or go right to the ER if you haven't already. All of a sudden not keeping anything down is a sign of a slipped band. I don't want to scare you, but you need to take this seriously. Hope you already are gettting medical attention. Please keep us posted on what's going on. Good luck!
  4. I experienced something similar with one of my friends. She was frustrated that I really didn't want to go out to eat. I didn't want the temptation. If we did go out to eat, there were only a few places I wanted to go, that had something on my plan that I like. It was especially hard when we went on vacation. She did make an effort to be supportive but I know she was frustrated. I do think there was a little bit of jeasousy there. She is overweight, not nearly as big as I was but needs to loose 40 or so pounds. I am sorry you feel left out by your friends, I would too. I think when someone doesn't participate in the eating, it can make others uncomfortable. I hope it gets better once you are off the liquid diet, shouldn't be too much longer I wouldn't think. Hang in there and keep communication with your friends open. Hope it gets better!

Over 3 Months & No Fill

I am glad you are doing so well and are motivated. However, I don't understand why you would want to see how long you can go without a fill. Why did you get the band if your not going to use it? You said it's hard, so I am thinking you are experiencing a lot of hunger. It bugs me that some doctors don't think a fill is necessary because the patient is loosing weight. I am glad my doctor doesn't practice like that. I lost weight steadily from the begining. However, if i expressed that I was dealing with a lot of hunger, and could certainly eat more than I was letting myself, he gave me a fill. Again, glad you are doing well. Your weight loss is terrific!

    Just Feeling Generally Good!

It sure is post worthy! I am so happy for you. A great week you had for sure. Keep it up! Congrats on the 40 pounds, that is a big deal!

    WTH?!?!

Yep- 3 pounds of fat, not possible. It's a natural flucuation. I know how disturbing it is to have taken in so little, and see the scale go frieken up. I would try to to get on the scale too often- especially if it's upseting you. Try once a week and record it. I have found that very successful for me.
  10. I think it is such a personal decision on who to tell what to. I was very open to most people about my surgery. However, 3 years later, there are still a few people I haven't told. Not sure exactly why, guess my gut just says they will be judgemental. Don't feel guilty about not telling, it is totally your right not to. As said, just say your eating right and exercising. When I get a compliment I usually say something like "thanks for noticing", or "yes, I've been working hard and feel great". Congrats on your weight loss!
  11. Are you keeping food/drinks down ok? If the watery mouth is your only symptom I wouldn't get an unfill. I'm not sure a watery mouth is a symptom of being too tight. That being said- maybe make Mon. your cut off. If your still not feeling right, give the office a call. Your dr. not the fill clinic.

    Losing motivation

I am lucky- for the most part my body responds really well to doing the right things, eating wise and working out. However, in my journey I had a week where I did everything right and gained a pound. Boy was I surprised. However, I told myself, weight flucuats naturally. It was probably some kind of false high (water retention, hormones et..) I kept on keeping on and the weight came off. Please don't be discouraged- just keep doing what your doing and it will happen. How often do you weigh yourself? I have found it really helpfull to stick to once a week and record it. More than that, natural flucuations will drive you crazy. I know it's hard, but be proud of yourself for working so hard, and know that damn scale will reward you. By the way, are your clothes looser? That's a great indication your shrinking! Best wishes!
  13. I lost 3 pounds my first week. I was dissapointed too. Then I was told they put saline in your IV during surgery. Takes a while for the extra water weight to leave the body. You should see more during the next couple weeks. On another note, I would try some other protein shakes and see if you can't find one you tolerate. It's really important to get that protein in. I drink EAS carb control. They come premixed in different flavors. I like the chocolate and vanilla. I but them at Walmart- 4 dollars and something for a 4 pack.

About to pay the deposit but...

For me the hardest part about being banded is not the change in food (I have found foods I really like that fit my plan) but the change in the way I have to eat. I have always eaten very very quickly. When the band is at restriction, you must take very small bites and chew chew chew. I still battle with that 3 years later. Also beware it will take time to get to "restriction". Seems like for lots of people its around the 3rd fill, was for me, and I have read that in many posts. That puts you at about 4 months post op. Until then you are in what is affectionatly called "bandster hell". The time between surgery and when your fills give you restricion. During that time it's like you don't have a band at all. As said, only you can make the decision, this is just a little information to help. Best wishes!

    Not getting enough protein

I drink EAS carb control shakes. I like the vanilla and chocolate. The come premixed. They are 100 cals and have 17 gms protein. I get them at Walmart- 4 dollars and something for 4. I drink one after my morning workout. As said, keep trying and hopefully you will find one you like.
  16. I keep a journal too- low tech, just an empty notebook and a pen. It started with just jotting down what I would eat for the day and totaling the calories. It turned into sort of a diary. I write the good, the bad and the ugly. It is really helping.

    Need a jump start...

Oh yes, try to fit in some excersise. I walk for 30 min. on an incline (treadmill) about 5 days a week. Feels great and really helps that scale move. You can do it! I know your life is incredibly busy, but you will actually have more energy and be more productive. You are worth it!

    Need a jump start...

I agree, I don't think a few days of liquids is the answer. Remember, this is a lifestyle change. I also agree, track what you eat. I personally do it with the old fashion pencil and paper (in a journal, where I write about my day as well.). I keep track of calories, and know from keeping track of Protein in the past that I get plenty. Typical day: B- Fiber one and yogurt 160 S- Protein shake 100 L- chicken breast, small sweet potatoe and veggie 300 S- Berries and cheese 250 D- eggs and turkey bacon and asperagus (roasted, I love it with eggs for some reason) 300 S- 1/4 c nuts 150 Total: 1260 Hope this helps

    meds

I never crushed meds either. Only time I've had a problem is when I was way too tight after a fill. You might want to just try swallowing and see how it goes????? I'm no doctor, may want to call the office before you do that.
