Lol Amy, wish I had, but your original comment was awesome!!

    Dr. Luna

Seriously? lol He was, how should I put this? "Occupied," that week.

    I lied.

Knowing what I know.... FACTUALLY, this is insane. So many people deciding they know what happened or didn't happen. It hardly matters, since the original poster in all of this has changed her tune, the company is standing by their doctor. For me, that's enough that I can no longer in good conscience recommend them. But everyone will have to weigh the information themselves when picking a surgical team.

    Dr. Luna

I think this has gotten so many posts because of the very serious nature of the subject. And the girl who shared her story and then retracted it, is a patient of Dr. Garcia. I know that for a fact because I know her personally and had surgery the same day with Dr. Garcia.

    Beware! woman traveling to TJ

If I have been unclear about anything here, is certainly isn't how I feel about Luna's actions or ANY implication that he is a victim of some sort. I don't think I have ever even said anything that could have implied that I felt he was a victim, let alone straight out said it. And as far as knowing the OP's intentions, I found out her decision minutes before my post about her posting a retraction. I hadn't seen her retraction on this post yet, but was informed by her of an official retraction to the company. I was led to believe all last night and today that she was planning on contacting the company herself and telling them what happened directly. Ironically, I was "blindsided" myself this morning when I was forwarded an email from the company where she sent a vague denial of wrong doing. I found out then (meaning late this morning in pacific time) that she was planning a retraction at all. Throughout the day, we spoke off and on as she also spoke to other "influencing sources." I believed that she was going to follow through like she said and make a formal statement to the company. This afternoon, I received an email from the company informing me that because she has issued a retraction and they have "never had any patients complaining about him, believe me" That they appear to be wiping their hands of the whole thing and calling it a day. I then spoke to the OP and told her what the company had said to me, including Dr. Luna's denials and dismissive comments about her, she was very relieved and grateful that there would be no consequences from her post outing him in the first place. I told her then that I was upset for being placed in the position I was in and that I was highly uncomfortable with the way things were settling. And I have stopped speaking with her out of my hurt for how I feel she lied to me about her intentions to do the right thing, despite someone's convincing. And also because I value my integrity and pride myself on being honest with people, even when it's not the popular opinion or one they want to hear. Your post is a perfect illustration of that. You imply that I knowingly defended someone planning a retraction, and corroborated a story that I knew would never be reported. I pride myself on my integrity and honesty. Your post is a perfect example of how she put those parts of me in question with her actions!!

    Beware! woman traveling to TJ

Well, as one of the ones that was there, I can say that there was never a thought that this had happened before. Also, despite feeling it was inappropriate, I was also fooled into believing he cared for my friend and this risk was a one time thing. And like some have said, sometimes people do meet under less than ideal circumstances. HOWEVER, based on the way things have happened and the information that's come to light since, I obviously deeply regret the way I not only didn't discourage but even at times encouraged the OP's feelings. But things have changed drastically. After the company was made aware of the posts, Dr. Luna was informed as well. The OP has since sent a retraction of her posted story to the company involved. She has her own reasons for retracting, and it is her decision. I care about her, but do not understand her choices. The company is standing behind their employee based on the retraction. And because it was her decision to issue a retraction to them, those of us that backed her up are left in an awkward situation as her retraction obviously then turns us into "liars." Obviously things got out of hand, and blown up into a very large issue, but I do not feel comfortable with the way things have played out. I have pulled my review of my experience and hope that what has been said by everyone already will serve as a warning to future patients. I am upset by what has happened, upset that based on that retraction I am being made to look dishonest for backing up a close friend, and very upset about my friendship with the OP. I hope this whole thing finds a resolution, but none of this sits right with me.

I would certainly still go!! I was there at the exact same time as the OP and sleeved the same day by the same team. Even while this was actively going on, I received amazing care during my entire stay!! And the OP is already drafting her letter to the company and Dr in charge, so they'll all be well aware of the entire situation by the time you get there! I wouldn't let it worry you one bit! Good luck on your surgery! Xoxoxo

I agree with Laura. You need to speak with the surgeon ASAP. I already have some one private messaging me for information on Dr. Luna. This could quickly have a negative impact on the best surgeon there!! He needs to know so he can begin handling it immediately.

And I was SO close to a happy place with you! Lol she never claimed to be raped. She never even referred to herself as a victim. And stated multiple times that she takes some responsibility in the whole mess as well. No one was making a mockery of rape victims. I'm taking Laura's advice and checking out of this one with you.

I'm sorry. I think we were all taken back by the fact that you didn't see the issue with a doctor sleeping with a patient in the first place, even when it's 100% consensual. And as much as I want to slap some sense into her sometimes lol, the OP is my friend, and I got a bit defensive. So I apologize as well.

    Beware! woman traveling to TJ

He was one of her DOCTORS. Are you serious?! The issue here isn't that a man tricked and used a woman, because men do that. Everyday, all over the world. The issue is that he was her doctor and used/uses his position as a doctor in a weight loss surgery industry to find vulnerable women who desperately want to feel wanted. Whether it was a one night stand or the month and a half game that it was, he used her and abused his position. And by calling her a "victim," people are acknowledging what she went through. But perhaps you're thinking of a victim by means of a crime, which no, wasn't the case here. She went into it willingly, but was mislead, by someone who should have kept the boundaries rock solidly clear from the beginning!

    Beware! woman traveling to TJ

I wasn't going to post because people could put two and two together and figure out who you're posting about, but they probably will anyway! I don't know that it's a horrible thing though honestly, as it doesn't seem to be the first or last time he's done this with a patient. I was there and her story is actually true. INSANE, but true (I was in Mexico at the same time and have seen the "date night" pictures, and have seen emails). Like I've told you privately though, I think his company would like to know this is going on and if you really want to prevent other women from believing that he wants a relationship with them, that's the way to stop it. This may get his attention, but that's not what you say you want. If you really want to keep women from feeling used like this, his company needs to know. If they haven't figured it out already from this thread! Medical Tourism already has an unfair stigma attached to it. His behavior won't make that any better!!

    Other mommies...

I was told 6 weeks, but when I said I just didn't think I would be able to find help that long, I was told 4 weeks but to lift carefully with my knees. But by 3 weeks all my help was gone and I was lifting both kids. But I was perfectly fine and had no issues. I was very careful and kept it at a minimum but did what I had to do. I would ask your doc about it to be safe!!
  14. Hoping someone may have some insight or a similar experience. I was revised Band to Sleeve on May 11th. Overall everything has gone really well. But, I am still having quite a bit of tenderness/pain at one incision site. No redness or infection, just some pain. It's the area where my (very high placed) port was and it is also my longest incision so I'm guessing that's where my stomach and band were pulled out. Plus it's an incision that was used in two previous surgeries, so I'm assuming that's just normal recovery for an incision with that much "trauma." But my real problem is fluids! I don't have any difficulty swallowing so I don't think it could be a stricture... But I am struggling to get in any fluids at all, let alone any Protein I am supposed to be getting by now. I was on clears for 3 days, and now on full liquids. Can tolerate water/crystal light/diluted Gatorade, but not any Protein shakes or Soups other than plain chicken broth without feeling very nauseous afterwards, even on 1-3 oz servings. I've tried Premiere shakes (my favorite pre-op), some Syntrax nectar and a strawberry powder from Walmart that I mixed with Water and with milk to no success. I am going to try to stay on clears a few more days and see if I just need to wait for some more swelling to go down, but just wondering if any revisions (or anyone for that matter) also had similar experiences in recovery! Any experience or advice is appreciated!! Oh and I have already contacted my surgeon and post op care doc, of course!! Just waiting for a reply!
  15. I was sleeved on the 11th and still can't do protein. And I've tried... ALL of them! Lol Doc said I can stay on clears for a few more days, that it's just extra swelling (since I was a revision) and that eventually I will be able to tolerate more. So back to clears I go!! Feel much better on them anyway. Gonna just try again in a few days! Good luck!
  16. I think I told you about this on the other page earlier, but as I struggle to get in my clear liquids, days after I've been put on full, I see others eating solids at this point!!! I wouldn't be willing to risk it, but it's easier for me to say that feeling too stuffed to get in water! Lol But you know I love you and this post is no exception!!!!! <3 None of us are perfect, but we make the choice to do everything we can to stick to the plan... And any failure would be shameful and corrected lol ... Not blasted looking for forgiveness and approval!!

  19. In Mexico, relaxing! So glad to say that my band is gone for good, and I was able to revise to the sleeve in one surgery on Saturday, May 11th! After following everyone else's journey for long, I'm finally into the sleeved part of mine!! Feeling fantastic. No pain, just some nausea the first 2 days. Should have done this years ago!!
