  1. It sounds like you are doing pretty good. I hope all continues to go well. How does it feel not to be hungry? :)

Sorry! I just saw this! I wasn't hungry at all for the first 4 or so days. Now I'm hungry. But it doesn't take too much before I feel full. I'm working on teaching my head to recognize when I'm satisfied, rather than just continuing to eat because it tastes good.

  2. How are you doing?

I'm doing pretty well actually. I haven't had much gas pain at all so I'm thinking I'm a really lucky one. Not too uncomfortable anymore. Still a tad sore at the port site but not too bad. Having a hard time "eating" as much as I'm supposed to so far. Drinking is easy but I'm having to force myself to drink all my shakes. I'm just not feeling hungry all all.

  3. I live in the west valley but I also used True Results and Dr. Nirmul. He's very nice just not very chatty. Lol. The True Results office people are all really nice and the staff at Tempe New Day surgery center is great as well.

  4. Hi all! I just had my surgery on 3/8/13... Doing really well. I'm not a first time bander' date=' this was actually my second revision. My first surgery was in 2006, 1st revision 2010 and this current one. I am stil glad that I started this journey... You will all be thrilled! My band is the best thing that has ever happened to me! I have lost since Surgey #1 130lbs! My goal is to drop about 20-25 more... My biggest words of advise... Follow doctors orders and start exercising ASAP! Good luck to u all![/quote']

May I ask why you needed the revisions so soon?

Thanks!! And congrats on the awesome weight loss!!

  5. My update: I was banded first thing this morning so I'm only around 6 hours out. They repaired my hernia too. I have been home for almost 5 hours. I'm only a little sore. Mostly at the port site. But the pillow helps that when coughing and moving. And I am keeping fingers crossed that I'm one of the lucky ones because I have had minimal gas pain so far. I have my gas ex and heating pad for the little bit that I do feel.

    Yay! I'm official now! :)

  8. Hello everyone! Congrats to all of you that have had your band installed in the last week! I hope you all are recovering nicely and getting some rest.

I have made it! Today is day 10 of my liquid diet and I am being banded tomorrow morning! I report to the hospital at 9:30 am and surgery is scheduled for 11:30 am. Of course we are due for a snow storm tonight through Friday' date=' so I hope that doesn't mess it up at all! Good luck to all of my March 7th friends! See you after it's all over with![/quote']

Good luck! I hope the weather cooperates for you!! I'm scheduled for tomorrow as well. Check in at the surgery center at 5:45 am. Not sure what time the surgery is. 7 I think. :)

  9. I agree with the rushed feeling but I don't mind it. I went for my consult on 2/21 and I'm being banded 3/7 like a lot of you guys. I have been considering the band for years and had done my own research so I think that's why I don't mind the rush.

The staff at TR is all really nice but I remember feeling a bit odd at my consult with how fast the assessment by the NP went. Kinda odd for major surgery.

Had my preop appt today. The surgeon really isn't very chatty but as long as he knows what he's doing, no worries.

The book they gave me at the consult and the stuff they gave me today at the preop appt is all good info so I'll have to keep it handy.

  10. You guys are all lucky! Each insurance company has different plans for each employer to choose from. I work for UnitedHealth Group and have United insurance and my plan doesn't cover any bariatric services at all. Luckily, I also have a hiatal hernia. So the insurance will cover the actual surgery (after my horrible deductible) and I am having to pay myself for the band portion. I'm having it done with True Results and they are financing me.
