    Size zero - har!

Do you see all the Facebook stuff about not feeling bad, Marilyn Monroe was a size 12? Well, I looked at some old simplicity patterns for dressmaking, our size 12, was a size 2, back in the day....

    Another Crazy Lapband Ponder

Ya know, I am laying on my back when the fills unfills are done, I can't see how many ml/cc are injected or removed. How do we know..? Maybe they think we're crazy, and why argue? Tell us what we want to hear? Lmbo!

    Banders #6

Loved long hair with thin, but really freaked out by the amount of hair falling everyday on my clothes and in my brush. Cut it shoulder length, wishing it were still long! Oh well, it grows back, hopefully healthier!

    Moving the port question..

I had my port moved, was not a big deal, hardly noticed it.

    Who did you tell?

My husband. Once said, you can't take it back. I don't regret that decision. I t was difficult enough to have the spot light on me once the weight was gone, without having to listen to people make remarks, or watch everything I eat or don't eat. It's no ones business, it really was the beginning of taking myself back, if that makes any sense. Hope you find what works best for you!
  7. First thought is, what does your diet look like? Are you measuring? It's not uncommon to not loose while your body is healing. I'm guessing here, are you speaking with a nutritionist? Are you feeling any changes in your eating at all? A few peeps here call this banidsters hell. You don't indicate the frequency or amount of your fills. Have you expressed all of your post to your doc? What does he/she say? There is a time between fills, when you should be paying close attention to quantity, quality, no snacking, calories including drinks, size of bites, length of meal time. Some form of exercise, walking is a good place to start. I know this must fell so frustrating for you, but if you are doing everything your doc says, then trust the process, it will happen for you too. It is by no means instant gratification. The band shows up everyday, you have to partner with it, and the weight will begin to drop. Hang in there!

    Need some experienced weight losers

Flaxseed, that's what is helpful about the lapband. Because you have it periodically filled, the times between you create new eating behaviors. Things I ate before, binge foods, I can walk right past them and never give them a thought, really. If we could give up food or the thoughts of food on our own, no need for the surgery. Once my band was filled properly, I can pass up pretty much everything, and not even notice all the crap foods while grocery shopping. Good luck to you, whatever your choice or decision becomes.

So many changes going on in your life, we don't always appreciate the good times, until difficult situations come along. With your band being part of the solutions- I know you have this! Sending all kinds of good wishes your way!

    Pain in upper abdomen

Did you have your band placed by a doctor near you? Really, that ideally is the best person to contact. We can only tell you our experience, and sympathize ,but only a trained professional, checking you, can give you an accurate answer. But, you already know this right? If something is really causing pain, please don't hesitate to seek medical care regardless of who or where your band was placed. If you need reassurance that the first week to ten days can be rough, then yes, some have more discomfort than others. By all means, if you were given pain relievers, use them,if not, ask the doc if regular Tylenol is ok for you. I had to have Tylenol / codeine, I was in pain.

    You look marvelous !!
  13. Completely normal. In fact some on this board would say aggressive. No one knows how YOU will react - or not , to the fill, so they do what is average and customize you along the way. It gives you a chance to change your habits and behaviors along the way, it is after all, an adjustable band. Be patient, we. All have been there done that, and.. The weight will come off. This is a lifestyle change.. Not an instant fix. Your gonna do fine.... Trust it.

    Pain in upper abdomen

Are you taking your pain meds, resting, heat/ cold packs, lot of liquid to sip? Walking to help move the gas along? Three days out can be too early to tell. Do you have a fever?, and redness or oozing from your incisions or port? When you awake in the morning, why not give a shout out to your doc, to alay your fears, in for a penny, in for a pound, the new rules of taking care of you, Dony T forget to follow through with us... Hugs!
  15. Need some ideas! Since we are from every part of the country, where in the USA, where is that best kept secret vacation of your dreams?

    ARRRGGGGHHHHH! my mother #$)&(*U#)(*

For a few of us, our moms were children of the Great Depression, food= love. Cut her some slack, take a silicon ice cube tray to dinner with you, or a muffin pan. Tell her it's the best soup ever and you would love to have some to eat as your new tummy will allow. I bet she will be happy to help you freeze up individual meals you can thaw out/ microwave on those late nights home from work.

Wow,moms are demanding, critical, and never think their job of raising you is over. but the one thing I can promise you, she loves you more than anyone else will ever love you in this world.

    Pain in upper abdomen

I'm thinking you have some swelling still from surgery? Some people have no problem, others do. If you are very worried, put a call into your doc or send him/her a text? Is it all the time? After drinking or eating? A little more info might give a clearer picture. Hugs!

    Question regarding restriction

Hi Wendy, I just wanted to let you know, you are not alone. I have been my biggest obstacle . What I mean is, I was so mentally programmed into eating the old way, that I really fought with the band. I was so stuck mentally into telling it what I thought I needed, instead of listening. I've caused myself much mental angst, that alone could have been part of the band feeling tight. Most of my over eating pre band was due to trying to stuff my feelings, feeling anxious? Eat, sad? Eat, angry?, eat, happy? Eat, bored? Eat. My mental habits didn't change. I've recently had an aha! Moment, but, it's taken 1 yr and 6 mo, to realize one simple thing. Listen to the band tell me what it wants and needs. Not my head. I hope you find not only your green zone, but your own aha moment as well. Hugs!

  21. I actually clip my fit bit on my shoe, so why not ? If not a fit bit, how about a pedometer?

    Foodie protein shakes

Ok, just made this with what I had on hand, poured almond milk into ice cube trays to use instead of ice. A little splash of almond milk to blend it all together. Yuuuuuuuumeeeeeeeee!

It's such a fine line for some of us! The elusive green zone. I suspect there are a few who have walked in your shoes. Don't give up! If there's one thing I have found out with the band, it's unpredictable, just like life when you think about it. Here's hoping you find your shade of green!
  24. Once I slowed down, I noticed how fast my spouse ate. I think part of my speed eating prior to banding, was to finish as quickly as he did. Since being banded, I actually bought a minute timer hour glass to keep turning over between bites. It's been fun and funny. We joke and laugh about it- but he is eating less now that his brain is making the time connection!
