Problems eating on workday schedule.
Kitt3000 replied to aeromech's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I thought the same thing about the protein shake, but another protein option is individual containers of Greek yogurt. My two fav's are Chobani ff Greek with blueberry, and fage Greek yogurt with fruit on the side. If it is too sour for you, add in some truvia or Splenda to sweeten it up. It will help hold you over and is quick to eat. If carbs allow, you could cook steel cut oat grouts for the week, pre pack in one cup containers, add blueberries and walnut pieces (if you can/like). A little sweetener, pop in the micro. Or another thought, how about a hard boiled egg? -
I sure hope someone answers this, or many veteran bandsters. All you asked are questions I would like answers to as well. I know we can ask the doc's, but experience is very much valued!

One week postop issues
Kitt3000 replied to darbymc23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc told me not to expect the desire to eat for two to three days, and if I did, only clear liquids. I left a box of broth in the fridge, and when I did want something, I had a few teaspoons of it, lots of water 24 hours, and a fruit punch protein drink, mixed into a water bottle, to sip on. It takes time for your body to progress to the protein shakes. Then to puréed, then mushies, then real food. I promise, you won't starve to death that quick! I am so sorry you are having a rough start. One thing I know, if something does not work for you, (human or animal) go back a few steps, start where you were successful, then build on it. One step, one hour, one day at a time. -

I did not feel nauseous. Did you feel that way immediately after surgery? -
You've got this!

One week postop issues
Kitt3000 replied to darbymc23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel your pain. It gets better. I am about 22 days post op, and I am feeling soooo much better! I had a pain right under the sternum that was quite painful. I found out it was a lot of mucus in my lungs. I have consistently taken musinex since we figured it out, the antibiotics had too many unpleasant side effects,. Happy to report, it was not a band issue. Give yourself time. It gets better. -
someone you dont really know
Kitt3000 replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I live in a rural community, and I have to say, I really don't mind if my neighbors keep an eye out for each other. Every situation is different, but what if you were in need of help? Thank goodness she would notice the car not being moved for several days. I told my husband at the very beginning to please, not say anything to anyone. He is a super guy, very chatty, and would think nothing of telling someone, but it's my choice to tell or not tell. I don't want to be the topic of conversation, and as much as I try to avoid certain people, we all know there are those who say deliberately mean things. I have not yet learned how to keep from running to food to make it all better... But the band will help. C, I love that you are so honest about your feelings working through this journey. It is not all roses and sunshine, but it sure helps us all to keep it real, or as real as we each can handle it. Instead of looking for differences between people, who not look at what we have in common? -
Happy dance!!

So all day Sat and again on Sunday, I unloaded everything out of my barn and tack room. Everything got a good scrubbing, decluttered everywhere! I am taking my barn back! No more dirt and grime, thanks to the pressure washer, tack cleaned and oiled. It just gorgeous in South Florida right now! I hope within the next two weeks to start getting my horses and myself into shape, once all healed from banding. I have not ridden for a while, between back issues and weight, I did not have the balance and confidence to get in the saddle, and well, it's hardly fair to ask my horse, to pack around so much weight! But here I am on my way, and really riding for all you non riders, is not passive activity. I promise, you burn up a lot of calories! Just cleaning on Sunday, my fit bit said I did 5 1/2 miles! So what about you? Ready for some spring cleaning and riding? Can't wait!

Kg challenged... Do you know what it is in lbs? I am finding that every single pound is hard earned. Congratulations! I know you are feeling better already!

26 pounds since April 18 2013? That's freaking awesome!

Could you hang out in town, do a little shopping? Take a book, go to the park and read? Take your camera and find something interesting, go to the zoo? Just thought if you are there that early, you could find something fun to do, and if you have a problem, head back to the office before your long drive home. Or even a night over? Good luck! You will do fine!

I fix my shake first, have it before I start cooking. I have no desire for anything I am cooking or smelling/ seeing, because I am not hungry. Might work for you too! Good luck!

Tell them you are going to donate it to under privileged chickens who are skinless and boneless!

There are some really good ones too. If you can get samples, then choose? Muscle milk is not bad either. My son, who is an exercise guru, likes the muscle milk with a spoonful of peanut butter and 1/3 of a small banana blended with ice.

Question for those who have kids 12 or over
Kitt3000 replied to cat whisperer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I trusted my kids with a personal situation also, there was no discussion of it at the time, but once they were teens/ young adults, they offered the information to everyone! When I asked why, they did not remember years later that it was my privacy, they thought everyone knew. I am not making that mistake again! lOL! -
How soon can you start working on your abs
Kitt3000 replied to faithonly's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Ask your doc, not everyone is the same. He/ she is looking at you, monitoring your healing progression. Exciting that you are fired up to do it! -
Full liquids in my dr diet includes pudding and creamed soup sent through the blender. Soups should be low cal and ff, pudding 60 cal and sugar free... Enjoy!

How to lower Cholesterol ?
Kitt3000 replied to Lappy127's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And sometimes, it is genetic. Your body does not have the off switch when it comes to dumping cholesterol into your system so it functions properly. If your diet is clean, you exercise, meds may be the only other option. -
Really? Let's turn that around....if you had no lead in your pencil anymore, is it ok for your wife to go elsewhere? Or would you believe in honor, understanding, commitment, dare I say love? And the huge one: self respect, self esteem.

Odd, isn't it? I would easily drink 16 cups of water a day without thinking about it before the surgery, now I have to force myself. Maybe when it gets hotter outside... Let me know what you find out.
