When to tell someone you're dating about the band?
Kitt3000 replied to leighindmv's topic in Singles Forum
Yep, agree with everyone else. No need to share it. I have coffee all the time with ff milk for added protein. Since a cup of soup is plenty, I have no problem ordering the cream of...mushroom,broccoli ,lobster bisque etc. my husband cracks up every time we eat out- because the bill is usually under 5 dollars for my meal. So many restaurants put their menus on line now, you can figure out ahead of time what item to choose that's right for you. Good luck! Awwww so sweet...first date!,,,, -
Thursday is the day and my grandma is trying to talk me out of it!
Kitt3000 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe hand over this thread to your grandma to read , starting with your comment? She would see how you really feel, hear what a wonderful tool the band is, and how successful we all have been. Grandma loves you, she wants the best for you, and like others she needs more information to feel comfortable with the lap band. Good luck! -

3 days into liquid diet
Kitt3000 replied to Lbktxgal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's ok to feel disappoint ! But trust me, you will not want to be coughing after the surgery. There are always roadblocks in life, lucky for us there's the scenic detours! Feel better, that sounds like a nasty bug! -
Sweetie, do you have a recliner chair? You might try the sofa if not, there may be a little more support for your pillows to push up against. Try rolling like a log to get out of bed. Use your heating pad as needed, and yes, if you don't have anyone to bring you meds, set the alarm. Hope you feel better soon, this is going to pass, and you will be back to feeling normal in a few days! Chin up!

Maybe try the five bite trick and check in with yourself? My doc always ask, can you eat more than 1/2 hamburger?

Not the response you wanted...Oh you've lost weight? really?
Kitt3000 replied to WshfullyShrnkng's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So just an added comment, because it just happened, again.. I have a long time friend who has decided to share with everyone around her and everyone she introduces me to, how I have lost over 46 pounds, by way of opening conversation. I am feeling awkward and embarrassed when she points this out, and mighty uncomfortable. As if my weight is defining me. I want to ask her to stop saying it, but can't. I feel like it will escalate the talking behind my back. And scrutiny over my body, " did she have a face lift?, boob job? Tummy tuck? Is her jewelry real? I know I sound insecure, part of gaining the weight in the first place, was not garnering attention, exactly what she is spotlighting now. You all know of "friends" like this, how do you handle it, next to dropping your friend? I don't even want to say how much weight I have lost, just to avoid this scenario! -
I've never heard of the cornstarch. Do you know what the purpose for that is? As far as freezing is concerned, I wrap them in the white paper first, then try to seal them with as little air in a freezer bag, as possible. Thaw and grill with a little adobo and garlic salt, cracked pepper... Yum!

Losing More Than Pounds and Inches...Relationships
Kitt3000 replied to PrettyThick1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Respect for yourself, is staying above the fray. Congratulations on recognizing the situation. Sometimes, we have to put a period behind the last sentence , end the chapter, close the book. Best wishes to you! -
Hey Texas! You are doing really well. If you take into consideration your healing time, and time for adjustments to get you to the proper fill, to allow the band to work for you, you are on target. Remember how long it took to get to your highest weight? The band is your new way of life, as much as we want it to be a quick fix, it's not. Hang in there, keep doing what your doc says, and I promise you, you will get to your goal weight! There are many people here to help you too.

Help! My Hair Is Falling Out!
Kitt3000 replied to mrsbuc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it happens to some of us. Try to be gentle with it, brush and go if you can. Do all the things you have been told to do. Stressing out just makes things worse and possibly stressing your hair. It will come back. It happens to me every time i go through a stressful period of time, my whole life. Hair today...gone tomorrow! -
Maybe jump start by a fill? Time to see the doc and start working with him/her, so the band can work for you! Best wishes!
-
Hope everything goes well for you tomorrow ! We will wait to hear your good news!

Need Some Support-Gained Lbs And Partner Not Attracted To Me Anymore
Kitt3000 replied to secondchancesally's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think no one can tell you how you should feel. On one hand, you deserve better. We all do On the other hand is the mirror. What if there is a middle ground? I thought about this long and hard. How would you change if you were not in the relationship? Would you do everything possible to be attractive to attract the next person in your life? If so, and your relationship is worth saving, will you do the changes now? Or start by kicking him to the curb, and make the changes? In a perfect world, love is unconditional, in the not so perfect world, everyone has a game changer. And yet I agree with the people who say this is his issue not yours. Is it really? When you love someone and regardless of who has the issue, it becomes "our" issue. Maybe the physical attraction is his game changer, not that un common, maybe he is experiencing his own physical issue, does not know how to handle it, so you (unfairly) become the target. Can you forgive and not forget? Does he really just want out? Honey, only you can make this decision for yourself. You know the good, you know the bad, you know if this is his one fault or just one of many. We don't. It must be enormously painful for you, and you know we are sympathetic, and wish we could take away the hurt. I think the most important thing is not to overthink it to the point you hate yourself. While one lady said she was upset he told you in an email, I have a long term relationship with someone who's family of origin, never talked about feelings, and to this day finds it difficult to communicate feelings if they are not facts as he believes. People are complicated aren't they? Hang in there, you have a lot of people with their virtual hugs going out to you. -
What do you mean by hidden menu? Just walking in the door reminds me of the over indulgent days! I had just under 1/2 of an egg soufflé today, I was trying to get past the pastry case as quickly as I could, even though my body says no, my memory way in the deep, is saying choose me, me, me- and it all looks worthy of a try. I would love to know about that hidden menu you speak of, so when someone suggest going there, I already know my choice! Thanks!

It's true! We are all with you! There's a great group of people here, take the advice and support you can use, and let the rest travel on by...here's to a new you!

The short answer is yes. On one fill it was almost 2 weeks before I felt it. On another fill, it was the next morning before realizing I was overfilled. Each time, I could drink water with no problem in the docs office. If you can get water down, I have been told, no need to panic. If you have problems, evaluate yourself with the basic rules about bite size, eating too fast, eating too much, drinking too soon, if you still have problems and you are uncomfortable, you may need to adjust the fill in the band. Good luck, it seems like each person is a little bit different. You are unique! Have a great day!

Excellent! Thank you Tom.

Thanks for clearing that up! Sounds like a good source to learn more. Why do you think it is odd? I'm thinking hmmm pharmacist are in the grocery store....

I sound like you, someone with an upper respiratory looks my way, and I've got it! I do have asthma. I do almost everything I can think of, but the one thing that was a game changer for me, was getting the pneumonia vaccine . It eliminated my catching the green goo as you call it (lol) for the first four years. This year, I have had two bouts with it, so, maybe it's wearing off. Who knows. Maybe there are more people out there giving it away....
