To be honest with you I have not fully given up Diet soda all together yet. I drink a lot less of it than I did before the band. I have always retained Fluid per and post. Anyway I'm drinking more Water than diet soda.
I have lost weight but only about 2 1/2 lbs per week since Dec.
I used to weigh daily. DON'T DO IT! I weigh myself weekly now. Anyway, I'm gradually weaning from diet soda. So I wish you well!

No expectations, my diet did not officially take place until my pre-op liquid diet but I was still careful what I ate. I was banded 12/28/12 and had a 2 week pre-op diet of Optifast. I'm almost 40 lbs down.
Just eat wisely and when you're approval comes through be prepared for your pre-op diet.
    Wishing you well.

You look fabulous! I hope to lose my cane when I reach goal. I'm permanently disabled so I may have to still use it but I'm hoping I don't. Congratulations to you! You look marvelous!

I stayed in a hotel prior to my surgery and I would advise being bottled Water as you will be on Clear Liquids most likely after surgery.
They gave me pain mess but the most pain I experienced was gas pains post surgery. It went up to my left shoulder so walk a lot post ip and do arm exercises to break up any gas.
Was banded 12/28/12 and I'm feeling pretty good. I've lost close to 40 lbs and I'm hoping to reach my goal by December 2013

You ate doing amazingly well! I am disabled and don't have the pleasure of going to a gym. My exercise is limited due to my disability. Having said that I was banded on 12/28/12. I have lost 34 lbs so far between pre-op and post-op. I have not found that proverbial "sweetspot" so many people talk about. I think I felt like I had a sweetspot while I was healing. I don't feel any restriction per se but just stop eating when I mentally feel I am eating too much.
My surgeon feels that considering my physical limitations that I'm doing well losing a pound per week. I'd love two pounds per week but as long as I have a persistent weight loss I'll take it.
    Keep up your good work'

    Hi
I was banded on 12/28/12, I'll be 65 in May and I have to say I'm happy I did it. I have not lost a tremendous amount of weight. I was 254 when I got banded and now I 'm 229. That's 25 lbs and I've had one fill but it I don't think my fill was enough because I'm still hungry but it's a process of trial and error until you hit that sweet spot.

OMG Carolinagirl, Clay Aiken is my all time idol! I even held a fundraiser cruise for his charity in Feb., 2008. I love, love, love Adam Lambert as well. Daughter us doing just fine so his exposure on AI was what he needed.
I try to follow Clay and Adam as much as possible.
I was banded on 12/28/12 btw.

dawalsh got a reaction from donna12 in Can i loose without excerising
Sadly, I'm physically disabled due to two strokes and severe osteoarthritis. My surgery was on 12/28/13. I lost 33 lbs without exercise. Now, my weight loss has stalled and I'm not losing anymore. I want desperately to exercise but the pain in my knees is so severe that I can't bear weight on my left leg yet. I try to do upper body exercises while sitting. I try leg exercises while lying in bed.
I'm hoping as more weight comes off I'll be able to do more exercise.
As it stands now, it's going to be a very long hard journey in the weight loss battle.
In theory, you can lose weight without exercise but it will take a lot longer! Also, the flabby thigh and arm syndrome are a surety if you don't exercise. Even with exercise there will be loose skin.
I need to lose 100 lbs. And hopefully I will be able to see a light at the end of the tunnel and I'll be able to walk better and exercise more. Good luck everyone!

I had my first fill today! Nothing to be scared about I was pretty happy because I have been able to eat more than I should but am still 17lbs from surgery! Just that bit of weight has made a huge difference in my blood pressure and being able to go up stairs!
My BP has never been high - had just started to creep up to 130s/90s -back down to my normal 120s/80s but am amazed to see how much of a difference it makes!!!

To be totally honest hun..I have quite a story myself. However, let me tell you briefly.
I was banded August 2008. Between August 2008 and August 2010, I lost 80 lbs. I got pregnant and my doctor opted to loosen my band to support healthy growth for the baby. In turn, I gained all of it back. Mainly because I lost my baby half way through my pregnancy due to some female troubles with my female organs and this caused me to go into a major depression. So, I ate my pain away once again. I'm not starting back over. In knowing that losing that 80 lbs was NOT easy at all..I kept pushing and to be back at basically where I started does not infuriate me, does not mean I'm a failure, and it does NOT mean I'm weak. Even stil today, I'm a full time graduate student and I also work full time. I have a sickly mother I take care of but yet..I'm still pushing. Please don't allow your daughter to be a crutch for you. Just think, this second opportunity to start at again with a more positive attitude will reap even greater results. You have to have faith in yourself unless no one else will. Just saying. Love you darling, and God bless you and yours! :) :) :)
