sim29 reacted to dani_nyc in Small progress excitement
Anyone else get super excited with small progress?
For example:
I started at 279... I got so happy when I hit the 260s.. Again and the 250s.. And now that I hit the 240s... I'm like dancing around the house..
I personally feel that there's no progress that's too small.. But there's so many threads here where people are complaining that they only lost 30lbs..
30lbs is the same weight as a 2 year old!!!

So I had a doctor's appointment a few days ago. I'm officially in the 200's again. I started December 25th at 337 lbs and I was 298.7 at my doctors appointment on Tuesday.
My scale finally came in the mail today which I'm happy about. Super accurate and I am 297.6 today.
Only 97.6 pounds to go.

sim29 reacted to Julia.Salvatore1 in UK size 18 to a size 10..
Hey guys,
So I thought maybe it's time to share a success story, I had my surgery 25th June 2011, my starting weight was 231lbs and now it's 152, I worked really hard to get to where I am.
I had a lot of second thoughts to uploading before and after pictures, really didn't have guts but I guess it's time that I did, I still think I need to lose some more, but this is where I'm at now
If you have any success stories, please share them

I get banded tomorrow. Sounds like we have similar starting points. My starting weight was 258 and I'm about 5'7". When i was just considering the surgery i had a lot of people tell me i wasn't "big enough". Everyone is entitled to an opinion i guess.

I'm so excited for you, please keep us updated on your progress. I start my pre-op liquid diet next week. I'm praying my excitement for this surgery helps me make it through that.

I was banded today! Everything went well. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I am so excited to be a part of this forum. You all have been so great and informative. I cant wait to see the numbers on the scale decline. On another note ....the anatheseologist asked me why I was having the surgery. I told her to lose weight. she said I dont look like I need it. I guess I lucky to carry my obesity well. I am 5ft. 8inches my starting weight was 263 and my bmi was right at 39.8. Well enough of my rambling have a wonderful wednesday my fellow bandsters.

I was looking through old photos this morning and was struck by how much I've changed in a short period of time.
May 2011 - February 2013
July 2011 - February 2013
But it goes beyond just physical appearance. Today I am all about being fit and feeling good, not some stupid number on a scale. I have avoided diabetes and high blood pressure which effects many in my family. I try new things, I am more confident, and I do not let size define me.
Keep working hard and do this for YOU. You are valuable, capable, and beautiful whether you are 400lbs or 100lbs.

sim29 reacted to Lapbandster in why did you choose the band? How much weight did you lose?
As everyone else has stated, I chose the band because it was the least scary to me. My mom had gastric bypass and lost 100 lbs. She had no serious problems but now at 54 years old she is severely anemic and cannot take certain meds- all because of her absorbtion issues.
So while i'm happy for her, and she doesn't really complain, that was just not something I was willing to do.
OF COURSE i'm terribly scared that i'll have band issues later on, but the band issues that people have don't even touch a candle to the severity of the issues the other WLS's pose.
I have been banded for 6 months and have lost 50 lbs
but I actually work my @ss off to lose the weight.... Don't be fooled, the band is not magic
