Post-Op Soft/Pureed Foods: Palak Paneer. Spinach with Protein
RebecaSparkles replied to gamergirl's topic in Soft (stage 3)
I love indian paneer. Any other recipies in there using paneer? allons-y -
If theres a Vitamin shoppe near you they have sample packs by the registers & will match their online price of 35.99. -store shelf price is $39.99. Amazon has slightly cheaper-$32-$35& free shipping. I've gone both ways. If I may make a suggestion on flavors- get the roadside lemonade- its a mild lemon flavor - like watered down lemon Jello. Its great to mix in your fav mio or crystal lights so you go from one flavor to like 6 variations out of one tub. Fuzzy navel is nice also. I mix only w/ Water for fruit flavors & 1/2&1/2 water & milk for desert flavors- chocolate, vanilla & Cookies. The double oreo flavor is so-so, i prefer the vanilla torte w/ a pump of sugar free torani smores syrup from world market. allons-y

Car accident 2 weeks after surgery - broken leg
RebecaSparkles replied to pomeerin's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hand bicycle- can help w/ cardio. Look for the seated work out video either online or at library. Its for the 500-600#ers who cannot walk or stand. You still have one good leg- ask for an ischial weight bearing kafo its a leg brace that takes all the weight off your leg from the hip down. You walk like an amputee on the ischium. Chin up. If your insurance will allow ask for pt to keep muscle atrophy at bay. allons-y -

Get a lawyer even if your plan doesnt cover wls at all they cannot offer treatment for other things & not for obesity. The local bariatric center said they always recommend a lawyer before self pay because that way your follow up is covered. If you have complications then they'll cover it. A few hundred for a lawyer is much cheaper than thousands for self pay. allons-y

Try putting on a really tight shirt/sweater/jacket/robe/ wrap yourself in a towel or blanket it'll trigger your sympathetic nervous system & help calm you down. Similar to why you swaddle a baby it simulates a hug. allons-y

Sleevers by profession.
RebecaSparkles replied to BWaltD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Prosthetist Orthotist- I design & build/ create prosthetic limbs & "braces" of all types to assist in ambulation & activities of daily living. I also feel like a hypocrite telling my obese diabetic patients to lose weight or lose a limb. I've seen more than one person eat themselves to a point where they are beyond my services or to the point of losing limbs. allons-y -

Getting Mirena inserted post-op and Nuva Ring and High BP meds.
RebecaSparkles replied to Carissicagail's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to have a mirena. I've never been preggers or given vaginal birth so it was a horrible 10/10 pain putting it in. My dr did not warn me or numb me. My cervix went from 0 to 2-3cm. After that trauma i was sobbing & they gave me regular tylnol. 1yr later i had to have it forcebly removed as the arm had grown into the side of my uterus. They pretty much gave me an abortion w/ o the baby part to get it out. It was aweful. Overall, I know 2 other people in real life whom have had similar horror stories. One had given birth & had no pain but the dr. Inserting the mirena perforated her uterus & it had to be remived. The other lost her strings & the thing had dislodged. But, do whats right for u. I also have high bp & take bp pills because getting off bcp is not an option. I too loved nuvaring! Have u tried the sponge? They have it at target & walmart. I liked it & "doubled" up by using sponge & condoms. I'm a little paranoid about not getting preggers. allons-y -
Yes, and did u know they price match their online prices which at my store are $5- cheaper than shelf prices! allons-y

Go down to your local Vitamin shoppe & get sone Syntrax nectar single serve packets. They're 1.99 or so each & you mix w/ Water for fruity flavors & milk for desert flavors like vanilla or oreo. I stand by the roadside lemonade. Its my go to flavor. I mix in mio or torani sugar free or use iced tea instead of h2o. I looove it. Also u can buy on amazon.com, bj's bariatrics etc. The syntrax website has a sampler pack dirt cheap but u need to call to get one & its assorted. Bj's will let u choose. I like the indiv. Packets & bought a tub & a few packets to keep in car/ purse/ desk for emergencys. Also, in the baby section of your local supermarket/ walmart/ target they have formula holders that have 3 to 4 compartments in them which are great. They're easy to pack & have a no mess pour spout. Oh and final hint. Put the water in cup first then Protein powder. Stir w/ spoon or Blender Bottle. Dont use actual blender as too much bubbles/foam. Also never leave a 1/2 drunk shake in your car. Pour it out or take it inside as it will smell like the death of 1,000! allons-y

Please review : Isopure Cookies and Cream Powder
RebecaSparkles replied to AmyInOrlando's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Honestly, I liked the Syntrax nectars cookie + cream version better. I have 2 tubs in my kitchen, one open one back up. I mix the desert sounding ones with milk - so vanilla torte, chocolate truffle, double stuffed cookie and cappichino. My go to flavor is the roadside lemonade- it's pleasantly lemony but not strong flavor. Like watered down lemon Jello. No funky after taste and when you go to drink it the smell is once again like jelly no musky scent. I "spike" my shake with either mio, Torani sugar free syrups or crystal light. a little advice on mixing. Put the liquid in the cup/shaker and then pour in the powder, put on lid and shake. This has gotten the least clumps. Oh, and avoid the blender if your not into foam. I think stiring with a spoon may give you the least foam, but I just use a Blender Bottle I got at target for $7. If the Vitamin shoppe is near your house look by the cash register for the little sample packs/single serve packs of syntrax nectars to try out before you commit to the big tub. Also, Vitamin Shoppe will price match others and itself online, which at my store was $4- cheaper than the shelf prices. I also got a little formula holder from the baby isle at the walmart that has 3 compartments to hold Protein powder and a easy pour spout to throw in your purse and take with you. The packets are expensive and hard to open without sissors, the thing I got was $5-. I pack all the same flavor and use the lemonade so I can mix with Water which I can buy anywhere. -
Can you change drs after surgery?
RebecaSparkles replied to Coralia Theophile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me say that working in the medical field an actual paper letter will get their attention. I dont think its 100% fair to hold this against your dr. Yes, the front office people suck & hes their boss but their the ones who need the butt kicking not him. Send a letter so the office manager has to respond to it in 14 days. Its like a medical licensing thing at least in my state. allons-y -
Fitness trainer required by insurance?
RebecaSparkles replied to nnegrete329's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like ur dr's office is running a little side business. I think that u should call ur insurance & clarify if its an insurance requirement or an dr's requirement. Then push back. Flat out tell them your not interested & to stop asking u. allons-y -
