  1. Dear DM4077, I have been through this I worked my butt off over the past year not using my band I didnt follow rules but instead counted calories religiously. I lost 75 pounds got down to 207 and within 7 months gained it all back I too feel your pain. Its really hard to go through losing it and people noticing and congratulating you and feeling good and wearing smaller clothes and health issues resolve the list goes on..... the mental breakdown of it I have to say is the hardest jyst feeling like you failed ive been there for 8 months straight. When I finally decided to actually use my band I found out it slipped and so I was offered a new revision called the iband which the lap band with plication. I love the plication honestly. And my band was placed where it needed to be and they folded the lower part of my stomach and sutured it. Like I said I understand but I have so many health issues I needed to love myself enough to say im human I went through a rough patch and ended up at square one but you know what I have all the knowledge of what not to do and the knowledge now to be successful and I hope you can see that way too good luck you can do it!!!!!!!! Just take it one day at a time! Best of luck
  2. Yes it very much helps with more restriction!
  3. So as of this morning im 14 days out of surgery. Im still very happy with my decision but I wish I would have been warned about the (painful) hunger pains seriously they are not easy to deal with at first :/ I had my follow up with Dr. G yesterday and It went great he looked at my incisions and took me off all restrictions which means no more liquid diet. Im to transition to solids and be tolerating everything by my first fill April 1st. Not sure why I get to transition so soon I can only think maybe because im a previous band patient but not sure. So anyone who doesnt know what the iband is, its where they fold the lower portion of the stomach, not banded in half and suture it. He told me the pains of hunger ripple through the new stitches and create that pain. I was told vsg patients have yhe same problem with the pains not sure if anyone else has been through it but I just wanted to share how I feel. Im down 18 pounds since 3 weeks ago today :-). I have good restriction just with the plication thats a huge reason I love it im able to only have 1/2-3/4 cup of food and feel very satisfied Can't wait till the first fill very happy with the decision I made just wish I knew about the hunger pains I was starting to think I was crazy!

    extreme hunger pain from plication

Well im consistently sipping on soup or some form of protein shake...even once im satisfied I stop then an hour in or so all of a sudden extreme hunger pain kicks in and I feel like I have to hurry to get something in me, if I dont its painful and makes me nauseous. I called my Dr. Just waiting on a call back. Thanks for the advice
  5. Hello all just posted on Friday the 1st. I had my lap band and plication surgery. Although I seem to be recovering ok im going through extreme bouts of hunger pain in a very short time span. What I mean by that is the hunger doesnt slowly come on it hits me like a ton of bricks and is very painful until I get something in me. Does any other ibanders go through this im very curious??

lap band & plication is completely done!

All of you are soooo nice : D im doing great actually I get to go home in a couple hours. I had my surgery performed at lakeside womens hospital here in OKC it went well like I said and im so excited about my new lifestyle change. Thank you, plication is where the lower part of the stomach is folded in half and sewn. Different but similar to a sleeve. I will have a new band on the upper portion :-)

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

    March 1st. 7:30am :-D
  11. Hello everyone just wanted to post something real quick on here. Im currently pre-op and on day 8 of my 10 day diet before surgery. Its difficult but ive done it before because I am already banded 3 yrs. out I just never did it right, wasnt consistent, didnt follow rules and just wasn't ready but now that I am I found out a month ago I slipped it and have a small hernia as a result : /. Even in my first 5-6 months out from the band I got pregnant which I wouldnt change for anything but this is my 2nd. Chance to be on target and start a new. Im scared and excited to get this chance and wont take it for granted this time. Ive been on the phone between tricare and the hospital today getting pre-registered and getting my life prepared for this. If anyone has had the plication id love some advice but I just wanted to give a warm hello introducing myself
  12. I also have tricare prime I just basically said id like to have bariatric surgery for my health and quality of life, I said I was ready to commit to it and understood the decision I was making. I honestly didnt have any issues when I went on base, I just said I want to have bariatric surgery for the reasons I just stated and the doc was like ok lets get things started. Im not saying your doc may be that easy but I couldnt see why they wouldn't put a referral in at your request to better your health. If you have any questions plz ask me ill try and help. I have had lap band surgery already here in Oklahoma on friday I have a revision to also have the plication done... I guess it would be no better of a time for me to write out my journey on here to help others like yourself who have tricare!
