  1. Sounds like a bit of jealously over your happiness which is to be expected. They talked about this in my pre-op classes. I think that you should be sensitive to the fact that he is not yet ready to make a life change but continue living your life. Perhaps you may want to do things that interest him as well. I'm sure he feels left out at the water park and just took it out on you. Don't take it personal. I know there were plenty of times I felt the same way.
  2. So my husband is being very unsupportive all of sudden....and tomorrow is my surgery. Last night he suggested we all go out to dinner at American Steak house. Then he told me that we will be driving to North Carolina on Saturday to pick up his twins. I am still going to be recovering. Then he told me that because I will be home for the next few weeks he will be leaving my toddler home to save on daycare. I'm already stressed because I know he thinks that this is a minor surgery and he is going to be looking for me to cook, clean, and take care of all that I normally do. I just pray that he realizes that I need his support in this time.
  3. Yes suck it all in. It's so much information so take notes. But congratz on your decision and best wishes.
  4. Congratz....all will be fine. Stay connected on here....learn all you need to know about pre-op and post op. Welcome
  5. You've been doing fine....I doubt that small meal is going to ruin your progress thus far. Just stay focused from here on out and remember why you started this process. We are going in the same day.....wooohoooo
  6. So I go in for surgery on Tuesday. I'm excited and a little nervous at the same time. I hope that I have shrinked my liver enough. Tomorrow I have a big day ahead of me. I have church in the morning and then I will cook a few more freezer meals. I have some laundry to do. Do my daughters hair either tomorrow or Monday night. Then just get some rest and prepare for the rest of my life.
  7. I got a basic magna....I'm so thinking about giving the bike to my step and getting a much more durable 10 speed.
  8. Don't feel funny....As we know first hand what that is like. If they ask you about your weight loss certainly motivate them into getting more healthy by eating better and working out and if they interested in wls give them some advise.
  9. I think you will probably have to wait until they heal
  10. So I went to my appointment yesterday and and my PCP had a EKG done, sent me to a lab for blood work, and I have to get a chest xray done. I will go on Friday for blood work and then Saturday for a chest xray. Whooo hoooo moving right along. I have 2 more days til I have to go on my 1000 per day diet.
  11. My surgeon is Dr. Elmer Valin out of New Haven @ St. Rafaels. best wishes to you too.
  12. So I've been approved for surgery and I just need see my PCP. My surgeons office faxed over some forms...I'm just curious what to expect during this appointment.

I would say that you need to shock your body. Don't get discouraged. Whatever you were doing was working but since you have hit a plateau it's important that you change what you are eating, change your work out routine and most importantly stay connected. Whether it is a support group or these forums. Stay connected with people who are going through the same thing. Don't shrink away and remember that you didn't gain this weight overnight and even though this tool is very helpful it doesn't do all the work.
  14. I understand what you're saying. I didn't have to wait that long but I did start to lose a little excitement. Not to mention I didn't want to be recovering in the summer heat. But hey I will just suck it up and get it over with and get healthy right. Don't get discouraged and jut try to focus on why you decided to get WLS in the first place.
  15. woohooo on accomplishing your goal. Keep up the good work.
  16. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Different doctors prefer different things and it may vary from patient to patient. I know in my seminar class it was pretty general for the requirements and then when I went to a support group I found that each patient is treated differently depending upon their medical need.Being the director I would imagine he has more experience possibly than the other doctor and is more apt to move you along more quicky. It's kind of like when you have your first child you are gentle and slow with caring for them and then out comes child 2 and 3 and you got the hang of it and realize that it doesn't take all that. There are guidelines and then there is reality.
  17. I will be going on a road trip about a month after surgery. God willing of course. I was concerned about the same thing. Would anyone advise against it. I know I will do all the driving since my hubby isn't taken the trip and I will have 3 small children with me. (ages 2, 8, and 9) I know I will have to pack healthy snacks and drink very little because I'm driving of course I don't want to keep stopping.
  18. Congratz.....Now just take the time to prepare for surgery
  19. oooo I never thought about how annoying that could be. I have told quite a few people, I hope they don't get all annoying like that.
  20. I initially was told to give it two weeks and I did. Then the day after the two week passed I called the office only to fine that they hadn't submitted anything and wanted to verify if I had gone to my last meeting. I had to wait another week after that. so it would of taken a week if that didn't happen.
  21. wooohooo.....you can do. Congratz on your surgery. I go in on 7/16/13...so excited for us.
