  1. I had so many issues wih getting enough protein due to me not being able to stomach protein shakes. Well I finally sucked it up and sat myself done and had a serious conversation. I cannot get my protein in with food alone and as you all know I need to get it down. So I decided to get over my fear of the taste and focus on the reasons for having it. It is just like taking liquid medicine that taste horrible. I finally did it...... for the past several days I have been drinking protein shakes and it is only getting better. I was even able to break out the ready makes shakes that I hid in the back of fridge because I hated the taste so bad and now I'm having them for lunch and dinner. So better health here I come.
  2. You will be able to do this. I too was a diet coke addict and a coffee fanatic. One day prior to surgery I just decided to give myself a deadline to stop it all together. I drank to my hearts desire and then when the deadline came I quit cold turkey. This surgery is something that I really wanted to have and I realize that soda and coffee were not going to do my pouch any good so I made the decision. I will admit that there were other things that I was addicted to prior to surgery that I never gave up but I can imagine that with me being on full liquids, then puree, and as I start gradually trying new foods I will develop better eating habits.

I would say that you need to shock your body. Don't get discouraged. Whatever you were doing was working but since you have hit a plateau it's important that you change what you are eating, change your work out routine and most importantly stay connected. Whether it is a support group or these forums. Stay connected with people who are going through the same thing. Don't shrink away and remember that you didn't gain this weight overnight and even though this tool is very helpful it doesn't do all the work.
  4. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.c...ed/LOZj9HRYdR8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> So I finally decided to cut my hair. I didn't love it at first but it's growing on me. I have been hiding behind extensions and wigs for so many years. My idenity has been a fraud, I've never really liked how I look without weave and I'm not comfortable without them. Even as I type this I am feeling the cool air on my neck...and how light my head feels and it's a foreign feeling. I braved it through the day and everyone loved the new look. So this should be an interested next few weeks while I get used to it.

Well RNY will definitely nip that chocolate habit in the bud.
  6. Congrats on making it through the two wk liquid diet. you make sound so hard and I'm sure it is. However, I know it's worth it. I'm trying to increase my water intake now....so that it won't be so hard to switch over to liquids when it's my turn. Thanks for the tip on the Pepto.....don't want any surprises :-)

So I have been overweight since I hit puberty. It wasn't an issue until several years ago. After, I started having children the weight just never disappeared and then after some time the weight just continued and continued to increase and now I know that I need to do something. I don't think that I'm ugly or unslightly but life isn't as enjoyable as it should be and I kow that if I lost the weight I would be a more lively person. So here I am started the journey to the rest of my life.

  9. I pray for an approval. This is such a big decision and so much is entailed and having to worry about whether you are going to approved is just too much.
