  1. I'm sorry. I had a brain fart when I wrote this. 5 years, not 6 or 7. I think I was thinking of my lap band which I had before the sleeve. I also wanted to add that the only wisdom I can give so you won't go down the same path as me is to be vigilant in taking your PPI, and if one doesn't work, switch right away. Famotidine stopped working for me, but yet I continued forever to take it and I think a lot of damage came from that. Burning throat, not being able to sleep or food will rush up. Even after waiting 3 hrs after dinner, I would get it. After that, they switched me to from Famotidine (H2) to Omeprazole which helped.
  2. Thank you so much. That is calming for me. I was trying to put a list together and that is one less worry for me.
  3. Thank you. I hope my hospital will do the same.
  4. Hi. I had a lap band and then revised to sleeve. Lost over 100 lbs with band and then 40 something more with sleeve. I have to have a revision due to gerd and other complications from my sleeve. Luckily, I did not lose any of my hair on either procedures listed above... And I know losing weight is much slower after each revision so maybe I'll be lucky again this time around. I was wondering if any of you lost your hair after revising from sleeve to bypass. Thank you in advance.
  5. Thank you! I will add collagen powder to my shakes then.
  6. Before when I had my sleeve, my pre-op was low carb, low calories. I'd say this is standard pre-op. So, this time my pre-op liver shrinking diet is unlimited clear juices like pulp free cranberry juice and grape juice, broths... etc. No solids. Iget the no solids part, but I had thought to shrink your liver, you need to cut down on carbohydrates (glycogen in liver) and all the 100% fruit juices on the list have high carbohydrates. I will follow it because he's my doctor, of course, but... Thoughts? Experiences? Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. If anyone else gets a diet like this, I found out it is for stomach issues. Makes sense, I have gerd/esophagitis and am awaiting a revision to RNY for that reason. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Thank you so much for responding! If I drink 8 glasses of grape juice a day, the carbs will be out of this world (at least for us WLS patients).
  9. I developed severe GERD and esophagitis due to the sleeve. Weight loss was good, no stretching of the sleeve either in 6-7 years.
  10. Good luck on your revision. If I had known what I know now, back then, I would have gone straight to bypass. Both the lap band and sleeve gave me many issues. Weight loss was good but the band cause esophagus issues so I had to switch to sleeve. Weight gain of course, when they removed the fluid for months to heal... And now the sleeve caused severe GERD and now I am revising to bypass. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Covid Test!

I did not want the painful one up my nose so 2 days before my procedure, I went to a drive thru Walgreens and had the easy self test there. The hospital accepts it. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app

    What fears did you have?

Good post since I think we can all relate. I'm a few weeks away and am also experiencing some of those feelings, both rational and irrational. I think my biggest fear is that although I have GERD with the sleeve, will I be jumping into the fire with a bypass which is a more serious procedure? Will that introduce more ongoing serious health issues? For example, will I have to remove my gallbladder as someone I know who had a bypass? What if I get a leak or sepsis or any of the other serious complications? Will I lose weight or will I fail? My main worry is... In the end, will I regret the revision to bypass?
  13. I finished most of my pre-op: Psych Eval, Upper GI (Barium swallow) and EGD. I have Cardiac clearance next and dietician. Has anyone changed surgeons after pre-op, and did you have to re-do all the pre-op again? Thanks.
  14. This was the best thing I've read today. I'll be having my revision from sleeve to bypass in a few weeks. I hope that I can have a similar story.
  15. Thank you so much for your input!

    August Revision

I'm scheduled for my revision in August. Wishing you all the best of luck and success in both physical and mental wellbeing!
  18. Thank you! I think I will start on the biotic supplements now.
  19. I did removal of lap band and switch to sleeve on the same day due to esophagus problems. It was outpatient and it went very smooth. Having said that, after the sleeve, a year later, I developed severe gerd (which I didn't have before) and now they want to do a bypass. If you have gerd already, then maybe having a sleeve is not the best way to go.

    Nicotine test

I bought nicotine tests for home, and by day 10 or so, I was clear. I vape heavily for many years. I read that if you stop vaping to 4 days before the test, you'll clear it since the typical test isn't as sensitive. Hope this helps.

    Nicotine Test

I bought at home tests for nicotine on my last surgery, and I cleared by day 10. I vape constantly and before that I smoked for years. You can get them on Amazon.
  22. About the same to me. Minimal pain, minimal nausea. I am now going to revise to Gastric Bypass due to gerd issues. I was wondering what the recovery pain was like between VSG and Revision to RNY.
