  1. Thank you all for responding!! That is one less thing for me to stress about. All this time I kept thinking something was wrong with my new revision because my stomach actually "turned" twice. One person I know in real life scared me and told me that she couldn't throw up no matter what since she had her gastric bypass and something must be connected wrong inside me 😅. I think she had her surgery back in the 90s. Not sure if the procedure changed.

  4. I felt EXACTLY the same way. Now that I'm transitioning into soft foods, you will feel it as others have said. By the time we get solids... It will be on! lol Cheers!

    Food Diary/Journals

    Been logging every bite for over 10 years on fitday.com. I like it because of the graphs. I've tried others that have a better database but I always come back to fitday. The problem with fitday is I have to add a lot of customized foods since their database, imho, is below par.
  6. I think yours makes more sense to me than mine did lol. I had a clear liquid diet, all clear fruit juices unlimited. Therefore, lots of carbs. I followed it, lost weight but the jury is still out to why my surgeon preferred that diet. Everything turned out fine in the end. Surgery was fast and successful. But as cellbell said low carb is what shrinks the liver is what I have always read.
  7. I would seek another surgeon. Her experience is probably lacking in the gastric bypass arena. If I had my choice over again, I'd go bypass instead of sleeve. It would've saved me years of Gerd and sleep issues because of it. That is just my personal experience, of course. Many do not develop Gerd. I had my revision to bypass a little over 3 wks. ago, and I feel so much better now.
  8. Nice post. Look forward to other replies! I don't normally watch carbs. Protein, as most of us, is my focus. Since I focus on protein, the carbs are naturally low. Also, low calories tend to be low carbs for me at the moment. In the morning, I like having miso soup with vegetables and silken tofu in it. Sometimes watered down congee with a soft egg & sesame oil. The soup gives me a jumpstart on getting some liquids in. For lunch/dinner, one of my favorite meals is 50g baked salmon (or soft fish) with soy sauce/lemon/wasabi and/or other spices. If I have room, a couple of bites of veggies. For snacks, my current favorite is a grapefruit juice popsicle that I make with my favorite grapefruit juice. I also like semi-frozen unsweetened granny smith applesauce or some other pureed fruit like mango. For drinks, I like adding True lemon, orange, grapefruit or lime to my ice water. For protein shakes, I like 1 cup of skim milk, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 to 2T PB2 powder and a scoop of Genepro.
  9. I'm allowed to take pills after my recent surgery. I think I am coming down with a dreaded UTI. Has anyone had any problems taking Kelfex (Cephalexin) after a gastric bypass?

    Still Worried

    As soon as I could get the vaccine, I did. I got both. As soon as I could get the booster, I will get it. Before the vaccines were available, I did everything I could to not get it, including wearing a mask, washing hands, keeping my distance. I still do those things because of delta variant but at least this time the odds are with me and if there is a breakthrough, over 99% I won't die from it. Peace of mind.
  11. Pureed stage: Hummus, guacamole with melted cheese. Cottage cheese sprinkled with Taijin classic seasoning (yum). Mashed soft sashimi (tuna or salmon) with soy sauce, wasabi. Homemade jello with diluted fruit juice like cranberry and beef gelatin.
  12. I relate with you. I just went through a revision almost 2 weeks ago. The things that ran around my head! Oh man. I don't know what surgery you are gearing up for but we all go through that. I said to my husband the night before "Not worried about making it through surgery, nor the temporary pain afterwards but I sure hope I'm not making a huge mistake that I can't retract later in life." For me, so far (yes, I am still worried about problems down the road as we all are.) everything has been great and I feel like now, I'd do it over and over again. Life isn't really different except that I'm feeling better, sleeping better and am enjoying the additional weight loss. And it is not like many of the things I've heard on YouTube or forums that frightened me. Hugs to you and keep us posted.
  13. What protein powder are you using? I like Genepro but they are late in the shipment and my soy protein isolate tastes really, really, funny. Glad you are doing well!
  14. Almost two weeks now, and am feeling pretty much the same. Pretty good. A little tired though. No acid reflux or burning throat, sleeping well. My sore throat from the surgery went away by day 2, gas pains by day 3. Had a big lump under one of my incisions but it healed really well, but the lump is still there. No pain at the incision but I see my surgeon in a few days. I'm eating between 400-600 cal. Trying to meet my protein goals but alas, it is hard. I have no idea how many calories I should be eating though. My surgeon said not to worry about that right now. Thank you so much for asking!!! 😘
  15. I've been chewing a lot of GasX (cherry chewables) and Mylanta Gas minis (fruit). They taste pretty good. Have you tried those for your gas?
  16. I had 47g of salmon sashimi today. Korea WLS Post-Op diet says week 2 is stage 2, and raw or soft fish (boiled) 50g is allowed. I not only minced it but I must have chewed it into tomorrow. Congee is allowed from day 1 too. It's been a couple of hours but I still guilty because well, my surgeon is in Texas not Korea. lol Mine did say tuna with light mayo blended is permitted in stage 2, pureed.
  17. I wonder why your doctor put you on such a strict pre-op diet especially due to your weight being on the low end. My starting weight was slightly higher than yours and my doctor put me on a 10 day, and those with a higher BMI got 2, 3, 4 weeks, for example. Maybe call him and tell him your weight and see what he/she says.

  19. I'm glad that you made it through okay but that is just terrible that you were stuck in the recovery room for 6 hrs!! Wow 😢. Good you are home and you can get some real rest. Speedy recovery to you, Cellbell.

    I don't believe being re-sleeve is covered with BCBSTX but if it is, then yes, you will have to go through all the hoops again. I had to go get a full heart clearance, psychological, dietician x 2 visits, upper GI and EGD. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Excess skin?

    Nothing is worse than being overweight. At least to me. Can easily hide the extra skin. I figure I'm not out there wearing a bikini anyway hehe. Every extra pound on our heart is putting pressure on our little heart. I'll be 61 in a couple of months, and I don't think 70 is too old at all as long as you pass the necessary medical clearances that both young and old need to pass. Lots of research that shows that WLS can benefit those in their 70s and even 80s, preventing heart attacks and strokes, diabetes.
  23. Update for my August revision: I had my revision earlier this month and although it feels the same as VSG physically, it is different in that I am just not hungry at all. After 1 oz of unsweetened applesauce for dinner last night, I just didn't want another bite. Some people got that with their VSG, I never did. It's hard to eat if one has zero appetite. This week my average calories was 296. I have no idea what my goal is for this stage. My surgery water weight gain is finally coming off then I can see where my weight is at but at 296 average a day, I know I lost quite a bit. Luckily, so far, it's been a pretty easy recovery. I do not have any nausea, and have not vomited. I do have off and on diarrhea. I took an Equate equivalent of Imodium, that fixed it. I still have a stitch feeling on the left side though, maybe due to CO2 still in there. I drink with no problem but I still try to sip slowly because if I do drink fast, I just know I will get nauseated. I've slept better than ever because no Gerd. I have good energy due to good sleep. Of course, I'm always worried about future complications though since it is a more serious operation compared to my sleeve.

    anyone over 60?

    I'll be 61 in October. I just recently got a revision from vsg to RNY. There is gas pain, some stomach pain but never over lvl 6 pain for me. The nurses told me that they thought I'd be one of the ones that needed most help but I never called them in. I stayed one night. There must be some truth to the older the patient is, the better they do in surgery and handling the pain. I think you'll do great.
  25. I had surgery the same day as you, and from the beginning, I could drink water and have had no nausea from the time I got out of surgery to today. Did your doctor give you Ondansetron? Little white pill that dissolves on your tongue. I lived on ice chips at the hospital, and popsicles. At this point, my doctor said 64 oz a day, sipped 1-2 oz every 15 min.
