  1. For me, it went away. I had the foamies quite a bit the first 3 months and then it became only once and awhile after that. After the 6 month mark, it has completely stopped. Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Yup mine didn't start falling out till the 6 month mark. My brush is full of hair this morning, going on 8 months. No bald spots but it is thinning for now. I also have met my protein and vitamins. I sure hope it grows back after I up my calories on maintenance... Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Revision VSG to RNY due to Gerd. From the beginning of the revision process, I've lost 78 lbs in 7 months, and it is much faster & easier than before revision. I'm currently losing steadily 6.5 to 9 lbs a month. I've passed goal and slowly trying to work up to maintenance calories.
  4. According to my bariatric team, any drink will count towards you 64 oz of water. If one logs, you have to count the calories/carb/protein/fat of the fruit & other things you add.
  5. I had a revision to full RNY (not the mini bypass since it wasn't covered by my insurance), and it feels the same but no Gerd. Main difference for me is a continuing low appetite even in the 7th month, double the rate of weight loss due to easy satiety off a couple ounces of food.

    First time

I had the sleeve many years ago and it took awhile, but I developed severe Gerd and esophagitis. In August of last year, I had to get a revision to bypass, and I haven't had any Gerd symptoms so far. So at this point (entering my 8 month post-op), it has really, really helped me sleep better, feel better.

    13 Days post op

I had a revision due to gerd and during the liquid and puree phase, I did not feel any restriction. Once I entered solid foods, I absolutely did and still do. I can not eat more than 2 ounces of protein at a time and a little veggies/fruit, and it keeps me full for about 3-4 hours. I am a little over 6 months. I'm close to goal and the weight loss has been steady. It is a definite learning curve though. My "I'm satisfied" flag does not come up till 30 to 40 min later so I've learned to always measure my food beforehand to avoid anything uncomfortable later and to chew a lot.
  8. Throughout my sleeve, I used PatchMD and blood tests were always good. I now use the PatchAID multi plus since PatchMD changed their amount on a couple of the vitamins. Because I wasn't sure how the PatchAID worked, I was a little nervous but two weeks ago, I received my 6 month comprehensive blood test results (revision VSG to RNY), and everything was in range. The iron, ferritin, calcium, Vit D, A, E, Zinc, Magnesium... Etc. were all in center range. If any were low, I was planning to go to chewables but since everything checked out ok again, I'll probably still continue the patches since they are convenient. Right now my average calories is 715 calories per day and I know it is hard to eat nutritionally sound on <800 calorie diet so I think the patches have helped.

    Lemon salt tajin? I

I did a typo in that post. The name of the seasoning is Tajin. It is a "blend of mild chili peppers, lime, and salt". It is really yummy on vegetables, fruit, fish, cottage cheese... Practically everything. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. I asked my surgeon and he said absolutely not. "Of all rules, the first few months are critical to follow the rules for safety reasons." Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Eating out after bypass

I am allowed to eat whatever I can tolerate. I'm at 6 months and just had five guys with my family. I had 1/3 of their small protein burger and 3 fries (five guys uses 100% peanut oil which is a heart healthy oil). I know I fill up fast so as always I cut my food in sections (about 112g section for my meal) and set the rest aside for leftovers or to share with someone else. 12. I was told that if I can't drink freely to come see my surgeon asap as it might be a stricture. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. I had a very easy recovery. I had a slight sore throat (lasted about 3 days) and a bit groggy when I woke up (slept through it after they woke me up), both due to the anesthesia. I went home the following morning and slept through day two, comfortably. My stomach felt like I did a bunch of sit-ups but I didn't have gas pains because I chewed mini Mylanta gas tabs. No nausea, was able to drink water with no problem. By day 3, I was already working as usual from my desk at home. Good luck!
  14. 6 months post-op and I have only thrown up once or twice and that was in the early months. I ate something disagreeable at the time but can easily tolerate it now. It's uncommon to constantly throw up as other's have said in this thread. I was scared too cause of all the things I read on the net before my surgery. Now, after an easy recovery, and a great experience so far, I wish I did it years ago.
  15. If you don't mind sharing, how many calories are you eating now vs two months ago when you were losing? I'm an avid tracker for years and can see when, why and how my weight changed from month to month.

    no appetite

I'm so sorry for your great loss. I lost a pet a couple of years ago, and I still cry about it. I miss her so much. Hugs.
  17. I am at 6 months, and I can tolerate any type of food without any issues. I couldn't tolerate fruit skin the first few months, not even a tiny little bit. I would get a stuck feeling and get a ton of saliva building up (aka foamies.) Up to now if I do not chew well enough of anything solid, I get the foamies. That is the extent of it for me. Determining Goal Weight

I would probably change therapists. That would irk me too. When I was younger, I had an opinionated therapist, and it affected my life in a negative way. They need to look at your situation without their own opinions/biases and above all, never ever tell you how to live your life but give you the tools to succeed. My surgeon doesn't tell me a goal weight. He just monitors my health and tells me to eat more .. Etc. and gives me a target for calorie level... Etc. So I just picked a general healthy weight for my goal and see how things go month to month Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Sashimi. Tuna and salmon with soy sauce and wasabi. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. According to my surgeon, I was allowed to eat fruits from the beginning but avoid the skins till month 3 or when easily tolerated. The first couple of months, I ate green apple sauce and smoothies with blended fruit. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Potatoes 5 weeks out

I didn't, but mashed potatoes were on my list after the first week. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. The last six months I'm averaging 650-700 calories. My surgeon told me at my 3 month check up that 700 cal is too low to up it to 900-1000 cal but I can't wrap my head around it. 😢 I have this fear that if I go to 900 cal, it'll soon be 1000 cal, to 1200 cal... And more based on my history. I believe that I'll stay around 700 cal until I hit my goal and then increase it to the calorie amount necessary to maintain it. My appetite is still in check and had read that my appetite will increase at the 6 months to a year anyway. Riding the wave.

    Gastric bypass sleeve

I had the sleeve then due to reflux I had to get a revision to a gastric bypass. I wish I knew that gastric bypass is far more effective for me in regards to weight loss, no reflux and no bowel issues. I would've gone straight to having the gastric bypass. I haven't had any problem maintaining my nutrition. Like the others, I take my MV every day and calcium supplements if I don't get enough calcium from my diet. My sleeve was on the large side so if you do decide to go this route, ask your surgeon what size your stomach will be. Mine started off at 10 ounces. I never stretched it but it was difficult to maintain a calorie deficiency. With the bypass, everything seems so natural for me. I feel great, small amounts satisfy me and literally zero side effects as far as bowel, acid reflux... Etc. Hope this helps.
  24. I'm so sorry you are going through this. It sounds terrifying and painful. I had a revision from vsg to rny in August. My recovery was same or easier than with the vsg. I chewed Mylanta mini tabs to get rid of the excess gas after surgery. Physically, I don't feel different either except that my appetite is much less after RNY. All my issues were resolved after the revision (acid reflux, hunger problems... Etc.). I don't have any issues anymore, not bowel related or stomach related. So far (knock on wood ^^), it has been the best decision I've ever made concerning WLS.

    Chew

They told me 30 times but I have found that sometimes I have to chew more. After my revision to gastric bypass, I've found that if the food doesn't break down all the way by chewing (i.e. liquid), I won't swallow it, otherwise it has a high likelihood of getting me sick an hour later.
