    Pre op blood screenings

Mine did too. For both the sleeve and then revision. I think it is safe practice since both are major surgeries.

    Pre op blood screenings

I had to have full bloodwork right before surgery and now every 3 months: complete blood count, serum electrolytes with creatinine and glucose iron, iron saturation, TIBC, ferritin vitamin B1 vitamin B12 folic acid ionized calcium and PTH levels And more...

    Caffeine!!!!

Neither of my surgeons ever advised me to stop drinking coffee. My current surgeon even gave me a print out of the diet he expects from me and it has a smoothie recipe that has a shot of espresso in it. lol
  4. Thank you all so much for your replies. Both my blood pressure and heart rate are low but I have no other symptoms. Hearing from all of you calms me.
  5. Since most surgeries are done laparoscopically, and most go home the next morning, other than someone driving you home, it's very doable to recover alone. They had me walking the hospital aisles every few hours right after the surgery till I was released at 11 am the next morning. I walked around a lot the day I got home doing light chores... Etc. Back to desk work on day 3 but you do feel very tired for a week or so. Again, as everyone will tell you, everyone is different. These are my experiences (both with vsg and revision to rny).

    Food question

After week 6 to 8 weeks. Anything before that time it can be detrimental since the stomach isn't fully healed yet.
  7. Acid reflux is a horrible experience. I used to wake up choking with a mouth full of acid and serious coughing to expel it. Then, all day until I go to sleep, I'd have a burning feeling at the base of my throat. I was so worried about throat cancer. Hopefully you are on a PPI right now (or equivalent) and I would alert your surgeon especially if your upcoming surgery will be the sleeve. RNY is usually to fix acid reflux so if that is your surgery then I wouldn't worry too much about choking post-op.
  8. Some surgeons will tell you to stay away from tomatoes at first if you've had a history of gerd or is susceptible to getting gerd. I had severe gerd and had a revision because of it but I was allowed tomato soup "with caution".

How many tacos one year out?

I'm at one year revision to RNY, lately I've been into eating one taco (~69g), mixing it with a serving of lettuce, and maybe a tablespoon of fat free sour cream, pouring hot sauce on it as dressing (zero cals). It's really good and filling too. I think I could probably eat 2 small tacos but I prefer using extra lettuce to fill up.
  10. I would go to the ER to just check to make sure everything is ok with your sleeve. Could it be a popped rib?
  11. It looks normal but I remember being concerned about it too, and so I sent them pics of it. Perhaps you can send this to your team through email. I had a phone visit with them at the time and they said if there is no pus and no strong odor, it is fine. They also told me to keep track of my temperature and if I get a slight fever, contact them.

    BMI below 30!

I still feel the same too lol. I know it's just my crazy mind games. When people call me skinny, I'm like the dog who hears a noise and I look around the room. Are they talking to me? lol Congrats! Awesome job.

    Liquid diet

I have been using the patch multivitamin too for about 7 years. First with the VSG, and a year now after my RNY revision. I do add the Calcium chews caramel apples or grape flavor from time to time. If I don't use my patches (i.e. ran out and waiting for new order) I like the Barimelts ADEK. Vitamin/mineral blood tests good. This year I switched brands though and went to PatchAid since my old brand changed vitamin/mineral percentage.
  14. I planned for 2 weeks but I was able to do desk work a few days later. I work from home though so I don't know how I would've done with a lot of people around me. The only pain I had was a sore throat for the first 2 days. I knew better this time around and chewed on Mylanta minis for gas pain. While the pain wasn't bad at all for me, I did feel tired like the others for awhile so your plan sounds about right. No field work for a few weeks just so you can let your body have the best possible healing.
  15. Congratulations on your new journey!

    3 Month Stall?

No, it's not common. There, I answered your question since you don't like it when people try to help you out by figuring out why you stalled so early.. Cheers.

    It's Skinny Pasta

I would definitely wait until you are farther out though because they are pure fiber and it may cause problems if it's too early on. I buy konjac (aka shirataki noodles) from online Asian stores (Weee or Yamibuy) and eat them all the time on those never ending hungry days. They are far cheaper at those stores than on Amazon, just a couple of bucks. I put them in soups, stir-fry them with all kinds of sauces. There are a ton of recipes online. They are even great in a simple recipe, for example, with butter, garlic and parsley.
  18. Normal blood pressure (sometimes runs too low) and normal cholesterol levels. Those were my two problems when I was morbidly obese but now, both are normal. My knees used to hurt but not anymore. I completely forgot about that problem even though I had for it for years until I sat here and had to think about any other problems answering your question.
  19. Mine took quite a few years. After that it was like gurgling acid in my sleep and a burning esophagus day on and day out. When you can't sleep, one tend to eat for energy. That didn't help my weight loss. It was horrible. I had a revision last August, and I feel so much better.

    Nutritionalist consult

Mine was dreadful too. All clear liquid diet. 10 days of if. Of your choices, I would totally go for the carb control option.
  21. Taco bell black beans (50 cal) for a side are my favorite. Tony but filling. I put hot sauce on it. Chipotle has some really good choices too. Wendy's has a nice black bean chili. I use a hot logic mini oven (there is one for the car) that you can either keep warm or actually cook things on the road. It will keep it warm for 12 hours if you can't eat all of it. Great for leftovers and cooking healthier options for our every 3 hr small meals. For example, can put raw salmon in there with herbs and it'll cook it in the car.
  22. I have a serving of the Verisol collagen bioactive peptides by Betha inc. in my coffee every morning. It was ConsumerLab's top pick. I don't count it towards my protein goal for reasons people explained above. I have been using it for almost two years for my skin. It helps with my skin elasticity.
  23. Once I met my deductible, every procedure, check up... Etc. was covered and then they would bill me for the 20%. Sometimes they just waived it.
  24. Same. I went from 6mg to 3mg,.. Then 10 days before I vaped a zero nicotine candy grape flavor.

    Jealous!

Right? I remember that I wanted the surgery yesterday. It will fly by though as you prep up for it. Lots of boring hoops to jump through. Congrats and look forward to your success!
