    I cheated - now what?

I would tell your surgeon about it. I have heard of cases that patients refuse to follow pre-op diet, and they open them up and either the liver hasn't shrunk enough or there is food in their system and then the surgeon has to just close them back up.
  2. Taste and enjoyment of eating definitely improves. Quantity increases a bit as well. When I travel, eating a little bite of everything is what works for me. I get to try new and different foods that I may never have the opportunity to try again, and I don't get stuffed. As far as hydration, because I can't drink during meals, I do bring a travel thermos with me everywhere. I sip throughout the day, stop before I eat, then an hour after dinner, I continue to sip through my journeys.
  3. My sushi bill at restaurants. Major savings. Before I could (and did) easily spend over $100 buying sashimi and/or sushi at a restaurant. Now I get full on either 3 pcs of sashimi or 3 bites of sushi (not even $15 since I can't finish a roll).
  4. It was yummy. Two pieces real sourdough bread (San Francisco style, 2 oz 130 cal) with 1 oz pepperjack cheese (110 cal), 0.4 oz pepperoni (52 cal). Ate it all.

    Am I overreacting

I understand and again, it's so difficult and trying as it is, let alone with the added stress so I don't think you are overreacting at all. I have issues with some of my family too, and often disappointed in their responses. Being disappointed in your mother's responses but not letting it affect your plan is inspiring. Keep the good work.

    Am I overreacting

Show her the label so she can see for herself they are sugar free and low calories/carb. Congrats on your surgery. Good to see you are following your plan despite the additional stress. From what I know, popsicles are a great way to get hydrated. Whatever works. They offered them to me at the hospital (also offered coffee lol but that's for another thread).
  7. For super hot and sour lovers only. My go to Soup if I have zero calories to spare. The whole thing is 27 cal. If you like spicy, it is really good. I often add napa cabbage in it. It has konjac noodles which have super low calories, zero carbs and are a Water soluble Fiber (great health benefits for cleaning the tummy), peanuts, red pepper spice... Etc. I buy it at Yami buy (online Asian store). It's called Kon jac spicy and sour noodles by Mingzhu. I ate about 3/4. I can down a lot of soup in general ...

    Tea recommendation

Tea lover here! My favorites are: TeaVivre, Mandala Tea, Lupicia (flavored teas), Kusmi, Bird and Blend tea Co. All high end tea stores but wonderful and worth it.
  9. Hehehe. I understand. Here is the weird thing, I can't eat liver, kidneys, brain l, any other organ but I can the chitterlings because they aren't dry and weird tasting but I totally understand. I had a feeling i would get interesting reactions to my post. [emoji39]
  10. Chewy, crispy and now thinking about it, yeah, like calamari in texture. They don't really have a taste, like many things it depends on what you cook it with.

    gained 3lb in 4 days...

Yeah lol . Pickles do that to me everytime so whenever I get cravings for pickles (often). I still weigh myself but since I am aware of what they do temporarily to me, it doesn't bother me. I think my max was +5 lbs in a day! But it went away in a day or so. Whenever I have a check in with my surgeon, I stay away from pickles for a week before! Ah and no sushi with soy sauce a week before either. Ha.
  12. Air fried chitterlings 93g with vinegar, soy sauce, chili oil, garlic, black pepper dip. I ended up eating 70g.

    gained 3lb in 4 days...

Unless you ate 10500 cal, my bet would be it is water gain. It happens to me all the time, especially when I eat pickles. It should come off in a day or two.

    Not losing Weight

@kelly jojo First few weeks, we are usually bloated. After surgery I gained over 10 lbs due to the IV. Your body is healing and adjusting. I was told not to take my weight too seriously until I was fully healed (6 to 8 weeks). Try to be patient and stick to your program. 3 lbs a week is actually good at your weight (10.5k calories less), that's 12 lbs in a month if continues at that rate. If losing 3 lbs a week is upsetting then beware of the infamous 3-week stall where you may not lose anything for a few weeks.
  15. I was given one month of Lomaira at about 6.5 years after vsg, right before my revision for gerd. I was worried about the side effects of phentermine. I was supposed to take it 3x a day. I took half of a pill (it worked) in the afternoon, not every day, when I got cravings. I have heard good things about Ozempic. I bet it is a lot safer than phentermine which is the common go-to drug they give wls. Glad you found something that works for you.
  16. All airfried to a crisp: Dim sum radish cake (100 cal), 3 gyoza (97 cal). My dip was garlic, black pepper, soy sauce, black vinegar. One of my favorite meals. Weighed 140g, I ate it all...
  17. 100% Very few get too skinny, the majority is the opposite. They have to work hard just to maintain their goal weight or lose the last 20 lbs. Our bodies are smart and they adjust (i.e. hunger comes back.)

    I’m HUNGRY!

The main thing that makes me feel hungry, those bottomless pit type of days, is when I don't sleep well. It's like my body wants to eat for energy. Gerd gave me fake hunger too in the past (I don't have gerd now). Dehydration does that too. I'm not hungry but thirsty but it's hard to tell the difference sometimes. My goto "snacks" during those days are homemade vegetable soup, low calorie fruits like watermelon, strawberries... Etc.

    A weight loss Story:

Wow. Phenomenal and yes, extremely inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing. You look wonderful.

    Portion size

At 3 months, my given goal was half cup or 112g (4 oz) a meal. Fruits and vegetables in between with a small amount of protein like cheese. At 6 months and after, the goal given to me was 1 cup. It's usually 1/2 cup though.
  21. Having gerd was enough for me to get the revision covered. When I first went in to speak to my current surgeon, I had a bmi of 28. He advised to get the revision ASAP. Unfortunately, I didn't. I was so scared to get the bypass. Also, I was content with my weight loss (bmi 60+ to 28, steady for many years) and thought I could control the gerd with PPIs. I couldn't. I suffered terribly for years after that. Looking at it in retrospect, I was silly. Best thing I ever did.

    Coffee?

As others said, up to your plan since doctors know your situation better than others. For myself, no restriction on coffee nor whole dairy. I do both.
  23. OmgI forgot about that. Lots of red onions!

    So depressed about my hair

Losing hair is traumatic even if one prepares for it and that we know it'll come back. For many of us, it is the one thing that despite the weight, it was something we could be proud of. I lost hair too, and finally after many months, it has recently started growing back. Mine was more in the front, and a receding hairline just made me look older. I started wearing hair clip ons (they work pretty good and it's not noticable and they stayed in). I also used scarves, wide headbands... Etc. Many people here have good suggestions on how to deal with Hair loss. I am just responding to tell you that I feel you.
  25. Looks so good. I would also add some lox, capers and a squeeze of lemon juice. Ok, now I gotta go buy some bagels. I ran out last week.
