    Hungry

I am up till 3 or 4 am so I get hungry at night. I wish I could be like the others with a cut off point but that didn't work for me since I stay up so late. When I tried, I would end up eating anything because I got so hungry. What works for me is having a fridge stocked with low calorie fruits and vegetables specifically for night time. I eat every 2 to 3 hrs while awake, that means I will always eat a couple of times between dinner and going to bed (i.e. 4 am) so I just eat fruits, veggies or light healthy snacks in the evening to stay in my calorie range until I go to bed.
  2. I was at my high weight back in 2008 so it's been awhile since I got questions but when asked how I stay so small, I just say what I have been doing since 2008. Calorie deficit and tracking is what works for me. No one wants to hear that so they never bother me again. lol I guess they want to hear a fad diet or a magic pill.
  3. 53 calories, steamed crawfish with Louisiana flavor. Ate it all. Some reason I can eat quite a bit of crawfish vs other seafood and meat. I ate 10 green grapes and 50g Chinese broccoli after.
  4. I do not experience a delayed response. I can imagine that being very tricky though. The closest I come to that is when I eat soup. I never get sick but it's a heavier feeling in my stomach if I eat too much of it. The feeling passes rather quickly since it is liquid. The cues are different for me so it was a learning curve.

    Revision

I think you are trying very hard to invoke an emotional response. I will walk away from this now. I was being sincere in suggesting it because you said you are devastated in your OP. I am so sorry you took it as an attack. Best of luck.
  6. Lololol right. It did all look the same. Funny lol

    Why so many sleeves

I chose the sleeve but 7 years later, my body chose rny lol (I'm in the minority that had to revise due to gerd). I love my rny so much (many reasons) but both are effective for losing weight if you comply with the rules.

    Grazing, is this normal?

Another good post that makes me think and wonder whether I graze or eat mini meals (or snacks) lol. I don't eat on schedule and there are days I am not hungry till 3 pm so I don't eat at all and just drink coffee and other days I begin at 10 am. I am all over the place when it starts but the time in between is naturally steady I guess, like 2 to 3 hours.
  9. I do not have a sweet tooth per se but I recently discovered That's it Dark Chocolate Banana truffles. I eat 2 to 3 pieces for a snack. It really tastes good to me, not terribly sweet but not bitter because the banana is naturally sweet and are filling.

    Grazing, is this normal?

This made me think about grazing vs snacks vs small meals. Now I think I may be doing regular small snacks a day or 6 small meals vs 3 large meals. In the end it's like 4 to 6x a day. It just feels like "grazing" because I eat more often than pre WLS. Makes me wonder.

    Grazing, is this normal?

I graze all day too. Since the beginning. Like @Ms.SSS said it's the total calories at the end of the day. For example, today I had 3 that's it dark chocolate truffles, later I had 100g watermelon, an hour or so later I had a cup of grapes. If i graze on the heavy side during the day, I will skip dinner or eat light low calorie filling snack instead... Etc. I give myself a lot of leeway, I go by average monthly calories so when if I go over average calories one week, I know I can make up for it the week after. I don't think it's a problem unless you are eating due to emotion and/or eating out of boredom. Even then, if one tracks, it makes one aware and helps keep the weight from creeping back while trying to figuring out things emotionally.

    When to up calories?

Since everybody is different here are my stats. I am currently a little over 1.5 years after revision to rny (gerd reasons). I am 5'3, in my 60s, no formal exercising, currently averaging around 1500 cal total calories, and weigh 107.7 lbs. I stayed about 800 cal till I got to my first basic goal weight (140 lbs). Then I upped it a little each month till my weight loss slowly leveled off. I was (and still am) slowly losing weight as I grapple with finding my maintenance calorie level. I do look at my net calories for interest but I do not go by net calories since the calories burned calculations are notoriously wrong.
  13. So my better half wanted taco bell last night so I did my usual. I got a side of black beans 50 cal then added red onions and fat free sour cream 20 cal), put hot sauce in it and ate it as lettuce wraps. Less than 100 cal.

    Skeptical spouse

I think you made a great case in your post. Tell her you love her, make your case as you did here, and tell her you need her support. Can show her the statistics of safety which are excellent concerning all wls. Safer than other types of surgeries and how many are performed a year. If she is still uncooperative, stay firm with your decision because it is your health at stake. If it causes true conflict then consider seeing a therapist together. Good luck, we're are rooting for you.
  15. Airfried hamachi collar (208g with bones) with 48g rice and a umeboshi plum. I ate the rice and 80g of the meat, gave the rest to my begging cats lol. Calories eaten 217 calories. I had steamed gai lan (Chinese broccoli) with oyster sauce later not shown.
  16. Dinner. Grilled mackerel with steamed rice with one umeboshi plum. Dipped the fish in black vinegar, garlic sauce.

    Dental issues?

My mom and brother had lost all their teeth by 60s. They never had WLS. I had vsg in 2015, and RNY over a year and a half ago, I have no issues with problems with teeth at all.

    Outpatient Gastric Bypass

I stayed one night, less than 24 hr after surgery, released first thing in the morning. I had asked if I could do it outpatient and my doctor said no. My sleeve was outpatient and many doctors in my area do outpatient RNY so I believe it is pretty common these days.
  19. Congrats! How long was your hospital stay? I'm thinking of having it all done at once, if and when, i decide to do it. Thanks
  20. Airfried spicy tofu. Extra firm tofu 180 cal), plus 25 cal (a combination of onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, black pepper, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, and 1/2 tsp of potato starch for coating. I ate half of the block.

    No sugar, no fat

Too much sucrose gives me fast heart rate, a malaise feeling for about hour. It's not pleasant but it isn't that bad. So for example, 1/2 cup of cereal, no problem. One cup risks one hour of fast heart rate. I don't get any side effects with fructose, lactose or anything else. So no limit on fructose (can eat fruit all day), lactose, starches, fiber, protein or fats.
  22. 100% worth it to me. My bypass was so complication/side effect free, I would do it once a year if I had to. lol. I love it that much. I played the numbers game when I got apprehensive before surgery. wLS, 1 out of 1000 patients (0.13%) risk of death vs gallbladder removal 1 out of 200 vs daily common aspirin more than 3K deaths a year. The risk in flying, 1 in 1.2M vs driving, 1 in 5000. Everything has risks.

    Sleeve revision to bypass 2/6.

I use the multivitamin with iron patch too for many years. Forgot to add that . No issues with blood tests.

    Sleeve revision to bypass 2/6.

My advice is go with the flow and enjoy the benefits. Living with minor gerd or none at all upped my quality of life 100-fold. For me, the recovery was easier, maybe because I knew what to expect this time around. Or maybe because my body reacted more strongly to having a large part of an organ removed versus the rny. Before you know it, it'll be over. My revision took less than a hour. Afterwards, I was surprised at how I didn't feel any different physically than when I had the sleeve. But I definitely had a new learning curve on how to tell when I am at roughly 80% full, that is when I stop eating (lifetime rule for me). There are different cues for sure as well as well as different side effects if you go one bite too many, or don't chew enough, eat something that your stomach does not agree with... Etc. Hope it goes well for you too.
