Just had my one week follow up appt. lost 12 lbs! I am thrilled! Find I am getting stronger every day. Phew. I think I'm going to make it. -
Try the no sugar carnation instant breakfast blended with some Greek yogurt and skim milk. Toss is an ice cube. I use two packs of the carnation and have a great high Protein drink that I can toss with more ice and sip. It's the only one I can tolerate.

I only a few days out from surgery (2/28/13) but I can hardly believe how much my tastes have changed. Nothing but the no sugar added Popsicles taste ok. Will this change? -

I feel pretty ok! Not too much pain, but gas pain was awful. Lots of milk of magnesia finally moved that along! On clear liquids and will be for a week more. Yuck. How are the rest of you? Surgery 2/28/13 -
Kay, praying for you. Praying all is well with you and you will be healthy soon!

The gas is an issue but will be going for a walk soon. I've chips are delicious!!!!! Tomorrow a leak test and then some liquids. All is good -
Tomorrow it is! Got my call and have to be at hospital at 8 am. Surgery 10:30. I am not too nervous--must be the Xanax talking. I am looking forward to the losers' bench.

I am chuckling! My dear daughter who is working on her masters thesis came home and made me a surgery play list for my iPhone with relaxing/meditative/positive songs. Got up this morning and started it. First song: Andy Grammer's Keep Your Head Up! "Gotta keep your head up.......you'll turn out fine!" My theme song!

Finally made the decision and now I'm petrified

I can relate! I too thought the band--seems so simple. Then after hearing the really high complications plus small weight loss ( I started at 290 and am 5'6") I thought SLEEVE! But no sleeve for me--after testing doc said bypass due to a twist in my stomach and a big hernia. Surgery is next Thursday!!! 2/28. Can't wait! You'll do great but it takes time to get your head around such a huge decision. -
I fight with him, but in the end, he almost always wins.

I know exactly what you mean about the child who just seems to have eating down pat. My granddaughter--who is three--is exactly like that. Can I tell you how hard it is to not try to stuff her or say "just one more bite"....But I am not. I am really trying to help her grow up without the eating disorders that my children have and it is tough. Love the blog. Love naming that evil voice that sounds so rational and reasonable when I hear it in my head. I am presurgery--next Thursday. But, I am on the preop diet--in my case fish, soup and yogurt in addition to water and protein drinks if I want them. Oddly, I am not really fighting it. That's not to say that I am not thinking of how to change my plain greek yogurt into chocolate greek yogurt...... You are doing great. Just tell Ed to go shut up and leave the room Susan -
Prayers for all who are having surgery today and for all who are recovering.
