  1. The scale moved!! The scale moved!! Hmmm....once again reaffirms that I need to only WEIGH ONCE A WEEK...which is impossible for me to do but still. Had I just weighed today instead of every day this week multiple times I wouldn't have gotten so frustrated.

Hand in there everyone...good things are coming your way!

I hope my scale moves too! Thanks for reporting back :)

  2. I have been gaining and losing the same 4 pounds for the last 2 weeks, and I was banded on the 5th. I think this is just the way it goes sometimes. Someone on the post-op boards said don't compare your weight today to your weight yesterday or your weight last week; just compare it to your weight one month ago. Hopefully that can help us be more patient!

I was banded on the 8th. And I lost 20 lbs from the post op diet and the surgery by the 15th. And then since the 15th i have bounced around 2-3 lbs!! It is sooooo beyond frustrating, I am exercising and barely eating 500-800 calories and nothing. I know everyone says "4-6 weeks is healing and not weight loss" but COME ON PEOPLE. Anyone eating 500 calories of mushed up food should lose SOMETHING!!! Lol..

    It is super frustrating.

  3. Please call your doctor! Since it's both sides it's less likely, but lower leg pain after a surgery is a warning sign for a blood clot. Hopefully it's nothing, but it could be something serious.

Thanks I've been walking and drinking, it feels better after walking a while but first thing in the morning when I get out of bed its bad. I'm feeling pretty good other than that.

  4. This is particularly stupid given that there is no evidence that these kinds of screenings/ "annual physicals" do anything to improve people's health or reduce costs in the long run. It seems like it should, but it doesn't.

The USPSTF doesn't recommend most of those screening tests for the majority of people.

  5. For those of you who found it helpful to take in more calories - did it matter what kind of calories? I am basically full on 700 calories a day (and have lost no weight in the last 7 days, but am only 2 weeks post-op so not expecting too much), but I could increase calories by switching from nonfat yogurt to regular, by adding in some carbs, by eating nuts... Just wondering if there's a method to it.

  6. I'm soooooo excited! I made it to just over 50 lbs lost! Still have a long way to go' date=' but this feels awesome. I've never lost more than 30 lbs before and always gained it back, plus more. I celebrated with new shoes and a fun new Water bottle. Also bought Water bottles for my staff who have been amazingly supportive. Only problem is that they're expecting something bigger for the next 50...better start saving. Motivated!!![/quote']

Wow that's amazing! Can't wait til that's me :) good luck with the next 50!

  7. I am 4 days post op and feeling much better although still very sore. Most of the bloating and gas are gone but not sure what is going on. It feels like hunger pains but I also feel full. They come on strong like stabbing pain and then go away. The Gas-X seems to help but not sure if it is gas or if I am not eating enough. Any one else gone through this???

Hi jenny I had sharp shoulder pains that were very intense. If the gas x helps it's probably that but if you're not sure call the doctor.

  8. Hi Jackie, my stomach was growling a TON the day after surgery, but I read another post that said growling doesn't always mean you're hungry when you're banded. And instead of freaking out that I was hungry I took a few minutes and realized that although my stomach was making noises, I was in fact not hungry. It's pretty normal that your stomach will make noises and it doesn't mean what it used to mean. I think there are a lot of new sensations we have to get used to.

Was banded yesterday feeling ok, A little soreness but I think that is because of the hernia. I also have noticed a cough, that makes my stomach hurt. I have been good as far as liquid food goes. Has anyone experienced hunger pangs the day after getting banded. beacause my stomach keeps growling but I have a full feeling.

  9. Are you drinking Water? You could be dehydrated. If you have diabetes and normally take medication and continue to take the same amount while you're eating far less, that could cause low blood sugar. You might want to call your regular doctor.

Had my surgery last Wed. No loner needing any pain meds. I feel great as far as that goes. My biggest issue is I am having such a hard time urinating. Also, my sugar is super low.

  10. Surgeon just called to discuss my flipped stomach with me. He let me know that there is a chance that he may run into problems with me during surgery & not be able to band me. Please keep me in your thoughts that all goes well tomorrow a.m. Thanks.

I will keep you in my thoughts. I hope everything goes well, but if he can't band you tomorrow stick with it and find another solution.

  11. Nicole, myfitnesspal.com is a great website where you can track your calories/protein/etc and exercise minutes/calories. I like it better than sparkpeople because it's more of a clean interface with fewer distracting ads. In the past one of the keys for weight loss for me has been recording everything I eat, and I want to make sure I keep doing that. I think it will be helpful as we have to get in a lot of Protein after getting banded and it can be tracked on the site.
