How far post-op are you? Make sure there is no yellow or green drainage and that it does not smell. It could be a sign of infection. If so please call your doctor or go to the ER. Good Luck

I have been going back and forth about WLS for 5 years and I finally decided to go ahead with everything. I have had all tests and medical appointments and my information was submitted on February 8th, well fast forward two weeks and I still have no answer. I called the insurance company on Monday to discover they had no record of receiving the information, so I got in contact with my coordinator and information was finally received on the 18th so now I start to wait again. I feel drained, its sucking all the life out of me waiting for an answer. I want to get prepared for WLS but I can't get excited until I hear that I am APPROVED. I'm praying that everything goes smoothly from here on out. I have a surgery date and I 'm ready to tell them when I'll be taking off work. Come one Highmark BCBS!!! Okay DONE VENTING...

Luckily mine is pretty good she came in on her off day to re-fax it today because I was so upset and I am grateful for that!

That's great ARenee99, I actually just called them back and they have received my paperwork and it has been forwarded to the pre-certification department so I feel a little better. So now I am just waiting on an answer. Thank God for small favors!

So I'm extra agitated this morning because Highmark says they still haven't received any information from the hospital for my pre-certification. At this point it's more a hospital issue than a insurance issue. I'm about to go postal on them...J/K. Insurance coordinator isn't there today so I'm about to call her supervisor. I have been waiting 5 years and I finally decided to go forward with the surgery and now they dragging their feet. My blood pressure is up and I need to calm myself down.

Nothing yet, WorkItOutWoman, I will call my insurance tomorrow to make sure they got my information this time. Fingers crossed

Well my gut told me to call the insurance company and I'm glad I did. Thanks to the info from Just1Girl, I talked to someone from the Pre-certification department and none of my information had ever been received. My coordinator just faxed it over to the number on the back of the card and she actually needed to speak to someone and from there they would tell her where to send my information and get me over to the medical review department. So the wait begins again. Slightly frustrated but I'm patient so, here we go again.

I am still in limbo, I'm trying to be as patient as I can. I did call the insurance company this morning just to make sure they got my information and she said she didn't see anything in the system. I'm like WTH! She said she would have someone call me back but it could take a week to upload my information.

Not sure but you should do what the insurance requires because they will give the final ok in the end. They just may want a simple evaluation. Good luck.

JustSleeveIt, I have thought about it from an envy standpoint as well. I will be the smallest person in my family everyone is overweight, I wonder if I will begin to feel like the odd person out. Oh well, my health comes first and I am so glad to have my husband.

I am scheduled to be sleeved on March 11,2013 (pending insurance approval) and I am super excited. Looking forward to starting my life over and not having to deal with the aches and pains that this weight puts on knees and back and feet. However my family doesn't share in my joy! My husband is super supportive and that's the most important thing to me. He will be by my side the entire time. My mother doesn't like it and she doesn't say much either. My father is adamantly against it and after I told him the first time and got his reaction I haven't mentioned it since. My oldest sister doesn't say much, my brother supports me no matter what and my youngest sister is adamantly against it and I don't understand her of all people. She's 27, 5'3" and over 400lbs. I consider myself lucky to have insurance cover this for me that saves me a great deal! I have looked at all the benefits and all the risks and I think this is my best out. I take 3 blood pressure meds a day. I have GERD and just diagnosed with mild sleep apnea not to mention all the aches and pains I have. I have ALWAYS been overweight and I am a beautiful person. I just want to feel that way on the outside too. I want a long healthy life with my husband and two young children. I'm nervous about surgery but more worried about a shortened life span.
