  1. I am about 18 months Post VSG and 14 weeks preggo. The first trimester was rough! Nauseated but felt like I needed to eat a lot to not feel nauseated and toooooo tired to exercise. I've aimed about 5lbs so far eek. I'm getting energy back so I will start exercising again but what should I be eating? I try to force the Protein shakes but eating meat and "normal" food seems to be getting more difficult. As pregnancy progresses towards the end has anyone had a difficult time eating normal foods? I imagine the pressure of baby on the stomach would make you eat less? My labs showed my protein is low and my Iron is high, idk ok he heck that happened and need to do better!
  2. Hi everyone, I am searching for anyone who has gone through as much as I have as far as repairs with the lap band. I got my band April 24 2012 lost maybe 35 lbs and by October of the same yr they discovered I had a detached/flipped port that needed to be fixed in order to continue getting fills. During that time I was not getting any restriction after the first few months after surgery. I had that repaired dec 13th 2013. Continued to get my fills as usual and my surgeon never filled me under fluoroscopy and never measured how much fluid was in there after each fill. Fast forward to two weeks ago after firing my surgeon and finding someone else to do my fills and low and behold over a two week period I went from 4cc to <2cc and have been told I probably have a tubing leak from a puncture hole(I know exactly how and when this happened because my port was flipped and they kept poking me trying to find it). Anyways, I've gained almost all my weight back and just started trying to get pregnant before I found out I had a leak and I've given up on weight loss. Just wondered if anyone out there has ever dealt with such terrible luck/poor surgeons? Im thinking I'm not pregnant and have scheduled an appt with a new surgeon that is highly recommended but is 2 hours away and trying to find some new hope.
  3. Yeah this is definitely not what I expected and the most expensive frustrating thing ever.
  4. On April 24th I will have be banded for one year. Unfortunately, I feel like this has been a very disappointing year due to setbacks, second surgeries and finally having to switch Drs. I have had so many fills I lost count and then having to have a repair surgery and long story short I switched Drs. and got another fill. I am now at only 3cc and still able to eat a lot more but I think I'm finally seeing a tiny bit of restriction. I'm so lost and confused about what I should expect to see and feel considering I've been doing this for what feels like forever but not having success secondary to bad patient care from my dr. I gave up on losing weight when I had so many problems with no real support from my dr and now I don't know how to start over. I never truly learned the rules and never have had any negative results from not following the rules. I've never experienced being stuck, I've never thrown up, nothing. It's like I haven't had a band until now. I want to refresh my mindset and begin again but it's been such a bad experience thus far that I'm having trouble. Is there anyone with any advice or have been through something similar? I need support and though my sister and best friend have a lapband , I'm the only one to have such a bad experience and they can't really relate to me.

    Bandaversary coming up

And to give some additional info I've lost about 20 lbs since surgery and that was mostly from the liquid and soft food stages and after that I've pretty much maintained.

    GI problems and protein powder

I was drinking bariatric advantage meal replacements before surgery without any problem and they are yummy! Post surgery they give me severe diarrhea about an hr after I drink them! It took me forever to figure out what was causing that but Adkins shakes and several other whey protein based shakes do the same. It seems like post surgery I have become what I like to call "lactose sensitive"! Try Genisoy products
  7. I am a PTA and from my experience you should get it taken care of now as you are still young! ACL injuries will cause serious instability issues and if not taken care of can cause further injury to both ligaments and cartilage which will probably limit your ability to participate in certain activities. Do your research, find a good surgeon and think about it/pray about it and do what you think is best.

    Depression....

I am 7 weeks post op and this past week I realized just how depressed I am...I've struggled with depression before but I definitely believe the surgery played a big part this time. It was so bad my husband actually mentioned to me among others that they thought I was depressed. Needless to say I had to go to the dr for antidepressants. It's not a good feeling to be depressed and feeling like there is no way to make yourself feel happy. I don't know if you are depressed but don't go too long waiting for it to go away if it doesn't seem to be. Best of luck to you
  9. Is weight loss REALLY just about burning more calories than u eat? I'm so frustrated bc I count my calories diligently and myfitnesspal keeps saying if I eat like i have I will lose so much weight by a certain date. My weight has not moved in 3 weeks and I am at 6 weeks postop. I dont eat the best everyday but I certainly don't eat like I use to. What's the deal?

    2nd month

Congrats! I've lost about 25lbs and although I still have a lonnnggg way to go, it feels amazing and I can feel a difference already! Good luck on this next month.

    Calories in-calories out=?

I agree with everything that was said. I think I've relied too heavily on counting calories and let it discourage me. I need to focus on the rules of eating most importantly. However, I find that I'm addicted to MFP and it keeps me accountable which is a good thing. As always, thanks for your input!
  12. When I began this journey I didn't keep it much of a secret because first of all I have never cared what people think about it because its my decision. But as time went by and I had some negative responses I decided that sometimes it's just too much energy trying to educate people on what it was about etc. That's just an individual choice to make. As far as sagging skin I am a little concerned about it too but ultimately this about about our health first. Don't let anyone discourage you from having what you deserve.
  13. Ok so I'm 5.5 weeks post op. I have been eating out some and have tried to eyeball how much I'm eating and I don't feel that's accurate at all for me. What does everyone else do? Use a measuring cup?

    Thinking of my options

Anything u do will be great so it's just a matter of what u want to do. Maybe u should start off with things at home until your ready to try the gym. I have a gym membership but rarely go, I love riding my bike, walking my dog and I play just dance on my ps3 but I also like workout DVDs too. Just get moving

    1 year post op

    Wow u look great!
  16. Mizz_Megan

    Why is it?

Well it might be possible that over exertion can decrease your bp further but I would talk to a dr about it. Until then if you get dizzy I would take it easy.
  17. Mizz_Megan

    Soft drinks????

This was one of my major concerns with surgery also and I doubted I would ever get over the addiction to it. I still drank soda until I started my 2 week preop diet which wasn't the best idea. I'm almost 6 weeks post op and I don't even think about it anymore.
  18. Mizz_Megan

    Why is it?

Wow congrats on the weight loss! Hope to be there a yr from now! As far as the light headedness and dizziness, do u have low blood pressure? Are you eating enough calories?
  19. Mizz_Megan

    Macaroni flop

Wow yelled?! That is not supportive at all and I'm sorry your going through that. Yes we definitely have to change what and how we eat otherwise we will be right where we started and will continue to be the same right?! I admire you for experimenting and TRYING. Keep it up and tell him if he doesn't like it, get his own food... Sorry I'm kinda cut throat with crappy attitudes like that but good luck I hope he will be more supportive and helpful.

    Bandster Hell?

Hey I had surgery April 24th and had my first fill a little over a week ago. I'm going through the same thing. I notice a little but of a difference but its extremely difficult to just eat 2 oz of meat and 1/4 cup of veggies and I have to say I eat more than that and I haven't really lost much if any weight in the last 3 weeks either. I think it's going to take a few more fills, hang in there!

    Eating out?

Accidentally sent that without finishing it sorry. But so many great ideas! Me and the husband shared a meal and we still had leftovers! This is awesome and we probably save some money lol

    fill/stuck

Yes. I just had my first fill over a week ago and the first day I thought I would ha e to go back and have them take some out. Over the next day or two the amount I was restricted went down significantly. Now I can eat less but still more than I should.
