  1. I am so frustrated and confused help! I am almost 3 weeks post op and i am supposed to start transitioning to solid foods by wednesday. I've already tried chicken and salmon and didn't have any problems. However, I work in home health so I am in a car all day. I bought a cooler to bring with me but I am struggling to figure out what the heck I'm supposed to eat for veggies. I just bought a lot of them to eat raw such as carrots, broccoli, and celery and I'm starting to doubt that I can eat those yet? I haven't had any fills yet. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    Veggies???

Thanks for your replies! I don't graze at least not so far. Yesterday I brought some raw carrot sticks to eat for lunch along with some tuna I ate. I didn't eat very many but I chewed thoroughly and didn't have any issues. But again I have no fluid in my band and wonder if that will change once I get fills.
  3. I was banded on April 24th so I'm not quite there yet but I am on a 6 week lifting restriction no more than 15 lbs. 6 weeks seems like forever to me but maybe that's how long they expect everything to heal completely. I'm sure you will get there it just might take more time. Call your dr. Just to be safe.

    One week postop issues

I was one week post op yesterday and I still have what I am pretty sure is gas right under my sternum and the only thing that helps is burping. I can't force a burp bc it hurts like heck if I do I just have to walk until its ready. I am also nauseated out of the blue every now and again. I find that eating or drinking something helps it and I'm not taking pain meds for the most part. Your symptoms sound normal but keep us posted.
  5. I'm only 1 week post op and was desperately hoping it would go away soon! So what is the cause of it, just gas?

Very upset and scared I will not get approved!

My drs office sent in my information and about a week later they required more information which was just proof of my weight for the last 2 yrs from my primary dr. I was approved 2 weeks later! Don't give up that's not how u get what u want! It will all work out u just have to jump through some hoops first. Good luck
  7. Well that's a worry for me too but so far no issues. My sister had the surgery done about 6 yrs ago and she said her hair did start falling out at one point but after a while things returned to normal. So, don't worry too much
  8. No, all the incision sites are healing fine and no drainage. The surgeon said I had a lot of scar tissue and it took longer than usual to get the GB out so maybe that's y it's more painful. I also did way too much yesterday. I picked up all the laundry in the house and washed, dried and folded, walked the dog and cleaned up around the house a bit. That doesn't seem like much but it took me forever and it was tooooo much bending! So I paid for it last night! Anyways, everyday it's getting better so that's all that matters
  9. I was banded 4/24 and I have to say I expected less pain. I also had to have my gallbladder out at the same time so maybe that's y? I don't know where my port is but one particular incision is giving me heck and not sure if that's where they had to dig the GB out of or what (GB had lots of scar tissue apparently). It hurts like heck when I bend or move on one side and the incision is constantly talking to me lol. Anyone else had their GB removed also or prior to banding?
  10. I'm a little upset and not sure what to do about it! I'm 4 days post op and when I left the hospital (same day) I had 100.3 fever. I haven't had a fever since but I have not had a single call from the drs office checking on my fever or anything else. Should I be upset and should I say something? I just don't think that's the best aftercare treatment...

    4 days post op

Well I am taking responsibility for my own health and best believe that if I have a question or concern it will be heard by someone lol! However, I was specifically told to expect a phone call and never got it and there are other variables that have happened to make me disappointed in my aftercare. I'm just a stickler for good customer service/ patient care considering i work in health care. However, I'll just chalk it up to miscommunication, and let it go and continue to be excited about my future
  12. Same day as me! How are u feeling?
  13. Hi everyone! I was banded on the 24th and at the last minute my surgeon told me she was going to take out my gallbladder since I was having problems with it. She said there was a lot of scar tissue on it and it took longer to take out then expected. I'm assuming that's why I'm more sore than I expected. I have had lots of gas pains and walking absolutely helps. Also, I started to get this burning sensation in my stomach today/this morning and I finally ate sf pudding and it made it feel better! I think I was getting full on medicine and not eating enough to coat my stomach. Anyways, I wish everyone a speedy recovery and am looking forward to my new life!
  14. Yes thank God! I've heard everyone say they had 10 days of liquid but my diet is two weeks with a protein shake for breakfast, half a protein shake for lunch with 2-4 oz of lean meat and 1 cup raw or 1/2 cup cooked veggies and same for dinner. Then the last 3 days of those 2 weeks is liquid only. So I'm super thankful for that! Good luck on your diet I know it's hard but we will get through it and be so much happier in the end
  15. Hey everyone! I finally had my surgery date rescheduled for April 24 and I'm super excited! I was previously scheduled for march 20 and did my 2 week diet and 3 day liquid diet and at the last minute was rescheduled! That SUCKED but I'm moving FORWARD now and cant wait! yay!

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

Well my surgery was supposed to be tomorrow but its been delayed 2-3 weeks now! I went to the dentist and my tooth is infected. I know this is the best but I've been on a liquid diet for 3 days and was hoping to be banded by tomorrow. Bummer!!! Well for everyone else who's having surgery this week good luck and prayers sent your way!
  17. Hi guys! I am a little concerned about going back to work considering what I do ( physical therapist assistant) and the amount of heavy lifting I do. I'm going to do home health only so there won't be much lifting hopefully...but I was wondering how everyone has done about work and how sore etc u were/are? My dr did say 6weeks for all restriction to be lifted but what about a lot of walking and bending?

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

March 20th is coming fast but not fast enough! 3rd day on pre op diet and its getting easier. I can't complain though bc it's not all liquid until closer to surgery date. How's everyone doing with their pre op diets?

    New here!

Hi there! I know exactly what u mean. I am getting ready to be banded on march 20th and I've spent plenty of time doing my research. I know someone who had lap band and has done terribly with it. He bad mouthed the drs and blamed them for wasting his money. Hearing all of that kind of made me rethink whether I should go through with it or not. On the flip side my sister and friend have it and have had great success with it. After getting to know that person better and learning his eating habits and just overall attitude I knew that he was completely non compliant and expected this to be his miracle. Suffice it to say I was not going to take any of his advice and I made the decision to move forward with it! Do your research, think long and hard and make your decision based on YOU and don't let fear hold you back (If its irrational fear I should say). Good luck with everything!
  20. I'm having surgery march 20th and today I found out what my pre op diet will be and it's better than I thought! For the next 10 days it's limited but solid foods and then 3 days of clear liquids only. Those 3 days I'm not looking forward to per se but better than 10 days of liquids like I imagined! On a side note I can't believe I spent $160 on meal replacements etc
