  1. Happy 37th Birthday CandiceNC!

  2. Happy 36th Birthday CandiceNC!

  3. Hi Candice, I'm from Winnipeg and looking desperately for a Dr. to do my fills, have an appointment to go to the States for a fill, but would much rather have it done here. I have heard through the grape vine that there might be Dr. in Dauphin who does them. Please let me know, thanks for any info you can pass on.

  4. Congratulations on your baby boy! And on your success with the band!
  5. Hi Ladies, Well I am at week 31 with my second band baby! And we have found out that it is a girl!! I will now have one of each! YAY!! I know that way back in the beginning of this forum I told you all about my story, but will do a quick update. With my first pregnancy, I got a complete de-fill by week 4 as I was also getting married at the same time. BIG MISTAKE! I gained 20 lbs in 2 weeks! I got my fill back but by then it was too late.. the gaining was on. I gained a total of 50 lbs with my son, who was born by emergency c-section. I ended up with pnemonia as was sick with flu to pnemonia the last month of my pregnancy. I was induced 5 times and after being a week overdue and in hospital for 3 weeks already, ended up with an emergency c-section. My son's heartbeat was irratic then quit all together for about 10 seconds, thankfully it came back. I was rushed to OR at 5 am and had him by 5:42 AM.. healthy as can be. (the cord was wrapped around his neck with both hands under it which is why his heart stopped with every contraction, he was pulling the cord off his neck) Now pregnant with my second, I had my gallbladder removed shortly before getting pregnant, and still had severe pain in my stomach, and went for an ERCP turned out my bile duct was closed shut, but I was already pregnant by then. I have had nausia with this pregnancy, and severe constipation to the point of tearing my self even on meds. I was put on sick leave in August due to this issue. At anyrate, for some reason I am starting to get the acid pain again in my stomach. I believe my band has kept it from coming back up but it always hits me between 4 and 7 am and I have to sit up completely for 15 mins or so for it to dissipate. I am at the point now where its hard to breathe as well. This baby is very high! I have not touched my band at all this pregnancy other than to add a bit more in the beginning as I didnt want to gain another 50 lbs. I still hadnt lost all of the weight I gained with my son. I was thrilled to go in each time and was losing weight, although my doctor wasnt happy about it, however the baby is doing just fine. I had my doc appt this week, (now every 2 weeks I see my doc) and in total I have gained 6 lbs and I am 31 weeks! That to me is sooo exciting, I am not near as huge as I was with my son, but I attribute that to it being a girl, totally totally different pregnancy! I look like I have a basketball under my breasts! LOL My port does not protrude either, I know its there, but no one can see it. With my son you could tell even by looking at me from the back I was pregnant this time not so much! I did have a big boy born 8 lbs 13 oz, although they u/s tech figured he would be closer to 10 lbs!! This baby is in the normal range not the large range! YAY! I am scheduled to have another c-section on December 9th. I am so excited. I can not have a regular v-birth due to the tearing in my bum and the complications from my sons birth, dissapointing, but at the same time, I know WHEN she is coming! And thankfully before x-mas! I do know that just before my c-section I do plan to get a small de-fill. After my son was born, with all the pressure and pushing they did around my port area and the band area, I had quite a bit of swelling, and wasnt able to eat or drink for over 12 hours afterwards. So this time I am going in a bit more prepared. Ok I have babbled enough! LOL sorry! Hope you are all doing great in your pregnancies! Candice son Cameron ( 20 months)

    Unexpected Side-Effect -- GALL STONES!!

After suffering for 3 or 4 years with what I thought was stomach pain, not gall bladder pain, as it wasnt on my side either, I finally had the scope done, and ultrasound to find gall stones. I had my gall bladder removed earlier this year but the pain still kept coming. I was sick inside wondering what the heck the problem could be, so the doctor sent me for an ERCP. (basically another scope but they remove stones from the bile ducts if there are some still caught. Turns out I didn t have stones, my bile duct was sealed shut somehow, I dont remember exactly how they said, as I just came out of the loopy meds as "unforgettable" mentioned. However, I have been pain free for months now and I am sooo happy! I was drinking a bottle of Malox a week, thinking it was an ulcer. No more Malox or anything else for me and I am finally losing weight again. Well I was except I am also 6 months pregnant, so I lost 15 lbs the first half, and have only gained 4 lbs so far! YAY (gained 50 with my first child even with the band, but didnt get a defill this time) Candice
  7. Congrats Crystal. Everyone is different, but I have had cramps all along in this pregnancy and with my son too. As long as there is no bleeding you should be ok. I however have been spotting this week, I am almost 11 weeks along, had an emergency ultrasound to check on the baby and according to two different doctors, spotting can be normal, and my baby is fine. The heartbeat is great they said and everything else looks good. So I just have to take it easy and pray that I dont have more than a little spotting. It is very scary for me, so I have been pretty paniky about it. I have heard lots of women spot and go on to have normal healthy babies so my fingers are crossed. Cherea, I am so sorry to hear about your experience, but I too am very happy to hear all is well now with you and your baby! So glad you are near your band doctor and were able to take care of things as needed! Colleen Congratulations on your pregnancy! This is my second baby with my lapband, and so far I have had zero complications with my lapband and being pregnant. With my first baby, I got a defill immediatly, but I gained so much weight so fast that I was filled again, and did well. This time around I kept my fill and actually got a bit more put in and am doing just fine in the weight department. I am sure all will go well for you too! Of course always contact your surgeon and verify if you have any questions or concerns at any time! Candice
  8. I too had gained alot of weight with my first child a year + ago.. now i am on baby # 2, I have a loose fill as well and have been eating like a mac truck! I am going for a fill on thursday.. (hopefully my doc will let me!) As long as I am eating healthy, and not vomiting, I think I should be able to get a fill. I too have been eating things I shouldn't be.. bread, pizza, pasta.. its been horrible.. I am only 7.5 weeks along with this pregnancy, and have a 15 month old, but I sure dont want to gain 50 lbs again.. I still had 10 lbs to lose to get to my pre-pregnancy weight and here I am again. So we must stick together.. and do our best to help each other stay strong and eat the right foods.. even if we pig out on veggies.. like sweet potato fries or something (home made in the oven) I have been horrible lately myself, so maybe if we can all help each other.. then we might be able to stay strong together! I am due december 18th, but will like have another c-section beginning of december. I will know more thursday at my first pre-natal doctor appt. Candice
  9. Hey Everyone! Congratulations to all the pregnant ladies! If you have read back to the beggining of the thread.. I was here pregant in 2007, my first child was born in Feb of 2008.. and I just found out yesterday.. (home test) that I am pregnant again! YIPEEE I was banded on March 6, 2006, starting at 305 lbs. I lost 113 lbs in one year then found out I was pregnant.. I got a complete defill.. and what a mistake for me that was.. gained 20 lbs in a month! So I got a small fill and gained a total of 50 lbs with my son. I still havent lost all of it.. as I have had gallbladder issues.. and still am having. I had my gallbladder out in Feb, but still have stones stuck in the bile ducts.. so am supposed to be getting that fixed in 3 days.. but.. now I dunno.. I am scared! I have attacks anywhere from 3 to 5 times a day/night. I hope that the ERCP wont hurt the baby.. or be post poned.. I am guessing the pregnancy has doubled the problem as this past 3 weeks has been worse than ever! At anyrate, I am so thrilled to be pregnant again.. my son is 14.5 months now and we are really hoping for a baby sister for him! Congrats to everyone again! Candice
  10. Oh Jodi beautiful picture! And you are right, so many of us are now mommies to beautiful babies we dont have time to do anything but take care of them! My son is already 3.5 months old now, his colic is gone YIPEEE and he is doing so well! I am guessing he is close to 15 lbs now (getting weighed on Wednesday) he is already in 6 mnth clothes!! I cant believe how fast he is growing! oh and speak of the little muchkin.. he is crying talk to you all later! Candice
  11. HI Ladies, It has been a while again since I posted. My son is 3 months old now (today).. wow has it been a journey. He has been very colic, and also a very urgent eater. Unfortunatly he would not latch on for anything, as he just wasnt getting enough fast enough. So I pump, and he gets it through bottle, but even on medications, I still don't produce enough milk, so he gets both formula and breast milk. I can say I was so not expecting how severe the lack of sleep really was/is. I was so tired, and cranky.. and having a colic screaming baby was very trying to deal with! However, he is much better now, he sleeps at night now, waking usually around 3 am and 6 am to eat, sometimes he doesnt wake till 4 or 5 .. I love those nights!! I too have never felt so much love, even when he is screaming and the neighbours think I am pinching him..lol he is sooo loud! Even my doctor was surprised at how loud and how piercing his cry is. He is a healthy baby however, he has almost doubled in weight! He was 8 13, now he is 14lbs 2 oz at 3 months old. He is also now 24.5 inches he was born at 20.5! He is a big boy!! I see other babies born before him or around the same time and they still look like babies, my son looks like a 9 month old! He refuses to do anything but stand when we are holding him.. he hates to sit! Jodie Congrats on your daughter! Glad it all worked out, even though the doctor didnt make it on time! Congrats to all the other new moms to be! Baby calls! bfn ladies!

    Breastfeeding Bandsters Unite!

Hi Ladies, I am a fairly new first time mom. My son is 3 months on the 4th! I have had a very hard time with breastfeeding. First off he will NOT latch on for anything he is too urgent and will not work for his food. Second, I do not produce enough milk no matter how much I pump, and I am even on meds to help lactate, and I barely pump two oz at both breasts. I am still doing my best to give him at least one bottle of breastmilk a day.. better than nothing I say. Btw I was banded March 6, 2006, starting weight was 305, went down to 193 then found out I was pregnant. I gained 57 lbs with pregnancy, lost 32 so far, but am really struggling, been stuck at the same 4 lbs going up and down for the past 2 months! There are lots of mommies in the pregnant and banded forum. Candice
  13. Congrats Nikki he is beautiful! Sounds like you had quite the ordeal afterwards.. take care of yourself! I cant believe 19 minutes.. wow.. my next baby will be like that.. haha cause it will likely be another c-section! Rayne, it's not fat girl, its baby... just remember that!! hehe that is what i tell myself still, haha.. the weight is slowly coming off for me again. I forgot how to eat as a bandster so i have pb'ed alot lately, not fun!! If it wasnt for breast feeding (pumping, since he refuses to latch on) I would start the post op liqiud phase again to jump start my weightloss. I am sure everyone is out there... and more birth announcements coming I presume! Sleep has been my number 1 thing aside from my son of course, so maybe that is what all the others are doing too! lol I swear I just cant catch up! I think wow I got 2 hours the nite before last nite, and last nite got total of 6, thought i would feel pretty good, and I guess i did but was so busy today I am totally drained. Thankfully hubby home tonite snd day off tomorrow.. so I might get a good nites worth!! ya right!! lol Anyways, I am off to bed, again Congrats to you Nikki, and hopefully there will be more bouncing baby news soon!! Candice
  14. hey ladies! It has been a few weeks since i posted. My son is going to be 8 weeks old on Monday. It has definatly been challenging. Being a first time mom, I was really not prepared for the lack of sleep. Cameron is Colic too which doesnt help. I also have had to suppliment with formula as my breast milk just isnt producing fast enough. He is a big piggie!! He is already close to 12 lbs.. I am getting him weighed again this week. I also went out and bought a VAN. I can't believe how much room you need to travel with a baby for 4 days! We went to Winnipeg for the Easter weekend to spend time with my husband's family, and my car was soo full, there wasnt room for anything! Cameron did do very well travelling for the mostpart. It is a four hour drive each way and he slept most of it, cept for feeding time! We made the trip twice this week cause i had to go back to pick up the van on thursday. What week! Anyways, hope you are all doing well, raine, be patient, only a couple more weeks!! Candice
  15. Good Luck Melissa! I hope your "trying" succeeds first try!
