  1. Thanks, lellow - I will check them out. I don't have any on my tummy. Do have on both arms, legs and one on my upper back. I'm hoping their placement will help - they didn't get distorted as I gained so hopefully they hold up as I lose.
  2. I'm pretty heavily tattooed and I'm curious if anyone out there who has lost a bunch of weight is as well and what affect the loss had on your body art.... I've seen tats on folks who have gained but not the other way around. Thanks!
  3. Thanks all! I did recently replace the battery. My sister has noticed mine is always higher than hers as well. No one likes weighing themselves at my house I imagine I will get weighed at the hospital next week before surgery so I think after that I will go and buy a new scale that is close/on that number and see where that gets me. The upside is I think it is very likely I've lost enough to be back in "the two's"... Next stop, ONEderland (in 12-18 months !
  4. There is fully a 20lbs difference btwn my scale at home (high) and the surgeon's office (low). My doctor's office and nutritionist are in the middle but closer to my scale. I use my scale at home to track loss - but I suspect it shows me weighing more than I actually do - and I think my surgeon's shows less than I actually weigh. Do any of you have this problem? Which weight should I use? My scale at home is a Taylor digital - a few years old. Is there a secret to zeroing it out and getting it accurate?
  5. Amen. Day 8 pre op diet and avoiding all bbqs
  6. If you are on MyFitnessPal (or might sign up) I am happy to be an accountability partner (and always need more for myself) - I'm avivasrobinson on there. Separately - what is a pouch test?
  7. Another band twin Welcome to the July Bandsters - good luck to us all! I'm day 8 today on 2 week pre op diet. Finally getting to a point where I'm not hungry all day - tho it does come on with a vengeance later at night so I've been going to be a little early to avoid it.
  8. My fave is stoneyfield Greek vanilla flavored. The other Greek options are a little tart for me taste. Check the sugar on them tho - it can get high in a hurry.
  9. I am going to the store this weekend to get what I need for post surgery and I was reading all the diet stuff my nutritionist gave me and I only have 1 day of clear liquids. Then 7 full liquids, 14 mushies, and 14 soft foods. Does anyone else have just a single day of clear liquids post surgery? I'd somehow anticipated that might be longer.
  10. I am day 7 pre op diet and am mostly protein Shakes plus .5 cup of fruit, veg and starch. I have been mixing my veg serving (using spinach) into my protein smoothies (just the powder, water, and ice) and I think the ruffage has helped keep me regular.
  11. Can't wait to try this - I've never met a chickpea I didn't like!
  12. I can't wait till I am post surgery, and back to real foods to try this!
  13. That sounds divine. Saving this recipe!
  14. Maggie - I did some quick googling and it looks like the primary difference with the realize band is that the port can be placed lower on the body so it is less noticeable as you lose weight. http://www.obesitycoverage.com/weight-loss-surgeries/surgeries-compared/lap-band-vs-realize-band Aviva
  15. Deb!!! Vickie!!! Welcome back - so great hearing how things are going for you!
  16. Hey Marieh- My random 2 cents - you might want to cut the carbonation now. There are so many other tests of will power post surgery that starting to get off the bubble now may make things slightly easier in the long run. I'm a seltzer fiend and had to stop weeks ago to let the craving ebb a bit. Good luck either way - I know how hard it is to give up! Aviva
  17. Mazel tov / really super duper awesome!!!
  18. As I understand it - walking around and using hot packs and cold packs can help the left shoulder pain - but OTC gas remedies don't do much because the air that is used to inflate your body cavity during surgery isn't actually in your digestive tract - it's in all the areas around it - so I think eventually your body just reabsorbs it. From everything I have read the best remedy is moving around (even slowly).
