How many fills does it take to get full?

I am with you bergdorfblonde....I was banded in August and haven't lost too much either yet...about 16lbs so far. God I hope i am not one of those extremely slow losers. Right after my fill there was no way I would even attempt anything with bread involved. It has been two weeks now and it is much loser. I still won't pick up a roll, but anything toasted is okay. I have already figured out how to eat around the band......bad, bad, very bad. I need to not do that. I am going to be my own worst enemy with this.....Regardless though I am still eating less than I could before the surgery and that is bound to cause me to lose weight, we just have to hang in there until we find that sweet spot too. Its tough, I feel like I have waited so long to get the darn thing, I want results overnight

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

wow purplegirl, I saw your pics on the pic thread...you are doing an awesome job! We are pretty close in stats....when I started all of this I was 281, when I had the surgery I was 261 and now I am 246. I was banded 8-20 so a few weeks off from you. Keep up the great work, you should be proud of yourself!
  3. Ok fellow lapbanders, I need some help! I am 6 weeks post op and got my first fill just over a week ago. For the last few days I feel terribly nauseous and don't know why. I do have restriction, it is very tight in the morning and gets looser as the day goes on. I feel nauseous when I am hungry so I eat and still feel nauseous. I do have a little bit of a cold, not sure if that is making things worse but up until the last few days I had no nauseousness at all. Since my fill I have gotten a few things stuck just because I was rushing and didn't chew good enough. Not sure if this maybe irritated things inside. What do you guys think....any suggestions? I called the doctors office and they want me to come in tomorrow possibly for a slight unfill. I really don't want to get unfilled if I don't have to but this just sucks.....what do you guys think? :help::help::help:

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

I am glad you said that pigsrflying.....I don't feel any restriction hunger wise either.....I can't eat as much and I have to be really careful with what I eat, but the head hunger is killing me. I am so nauseaus the last few days....I think I am going to call my doc and see what he says. I don't know why all of a sudden I would feel this way constantly. Anyone have any ideas why?
  5. Ok....I just had surgery August 20th so it is too early to post anything but a head shot but I think there is a difference in my face so far. The first pic was from December 2006 before any pre-dieting or anything. The second pic was taken a few weeks ago. I am down a total of 35lbs so far.....

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

Looks like I am in the same boat as many of you. I had my surgery august 20th and haven't lost much in weeks. Heck I lost for about the first two weeks after surgery and then it stopped. Since surgery I am down 15lbs. I had my first fill last week and I definitely have some restriction as I have realized that I try to eat way to fast and have gotten things stuck....even pb'd for the first time today. (I am a slow learner....lol). I am really getting frustrated though that I haven't lost anymore. Even this past week, I thought I would have dropped a good few pounds and I am only down 2. I know they say that is right on target of 1-3 lbs per week but come on.....I know I am eating the 1200 calories a day, I can't eat any less. I am hungry on that and now with the restriction I am having a hard time figuring out just what and how much I can eat....sorry to vent, but I want you guys to know you are not alone.

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far

I think it sounds like we are all over the board. I just had my first fill on Tuesday and right now I have restriction but not much I don't think.....I haven't pushed it yet. I ate a little bit of yogurt for breakfast and feel full right now. My surgery was august 20th and I am down 14lbs since the surgery......I am not thrilled with that. I know they said it would be slower, but come on......All of that 14 was within the first 3 weeks. I haven't lost anything in 2 weeks and it is getting me upset. Before my fill I was eating like a hog, like I didn't even have the band. I know this is what everyone keeps referring to as bandster hell and hell it is. I just don't want to fail at this but the head hunger keeps getting the best of me. Who waits to eat until they are hungry? I wish there was something I could do to beat that head hunger. I know I am not alone, just thought I would share what I am feeling right now.

    Elliptical Anyone??

your not alone! I also just bought one and it kicks my butt too, I hate to say it but I like that it makes me sweat (and feel like I am going to die) in a very short period of time......lol. I starting out with 5 minutes and am up to 12 at a time and have only been on it for a few weeks, it does get easier!
  9. please utep99, tell us what you are doing
  10. ok guys....I had my surgery on August 20th, I weighed 261 when I went in and am 248 now...down about 13ish lbs. Do you guys think I am on track so far. I am on the mushies stage and not eating 100% but pretty good. By that I mean that like today at lunch, I am having a cup of chili from tim hortons....it is ground really fine but it technically isn't 'pureed'. I guess I gage it by if I can mash it in my mouth with my tongue it is a puree...hell its softer than tuna fish....I am just afraid I should be losing more and I am trying so hard not to compare myself to anyone else. What do you guys think?

please help me with some funny prank joke ideas.

If you put a mustard or ketchup packet under the knobs of the toilet seat, when the person sits down, it will squirt the condiment all over their behind.......got my dad a LONG time ago with that one....he wasn't impressed!

    What is wrong with me?

Hang in there justplainme....I was banded on the 20th and am going through the same thing you are right now....I am HUNGRY! I can't even look at broth anymore and the cream soups make me feel so bloated it isn't even funny. This is the bandster hell we hear about! I have cheated twice now and eaten a scrambled egg.....and I am not gonna lie, it was the best freaking egg on the planet. I am trying to get creative with shakes to keep me from getting hungry. Also, I found last night that just a simple glass of milk really fills you up and sticks with you longer than juice or water so you could try that. If all else fails and you have to have something, grab a sugar free jello and put just a tiny bit of light whip cream on it....it changes the taste just enough without adding many calories at all. Two teaspoons is only 25 calories and if it keeps you from the mushies, then I say do it.

Pain and Tenderness around the Port

Hi! I was banded on 8-20 and today is the first day I have not had to take even tylenol. They had a hard time setting my port during surgery so I have been incredibly sore. Last night it was like a switch and I could sleep on my side again.....just hang in there, I bet a few more days at most and you will feel much better.
  14. the pain is normal, probably gas and yes, I am getting hungry too. I was banded on the 20th. Have you had any cream soups yet...they fill me up longer
  15. Congrats to everyone being banded! I am almost one week post op and I am loving it so far....the soups are getting old but I can' t believe how fast I feel full!
  16. hi everyone, sorry I haven't checked in. I was banded on the 20th and doing pretty good. I have been getting in my protein each day by drinking an isopure watered down 50%. One bottle has 40 grams of protein in it. I have been sore still but I think I am doing too much. I have gone shopping and out for walks. I don't have the horrible gas pains that I was expecting. I have been eating soup and that is pretty much it....I am getting tired of soup fast now. I think after this I will never look at broth or jello the same again! Have any of you found that you are very tight in the morning and it loosens up during the day. I can't even drink soup until after about noon time. I am really only sore still where my port is, they had a hard time setting my port I guess so he told me that I may be more sore than normal. I have been a little frustrated with the scale...I know it is swelling and the sodium from the soup, but just any kind of progress would really boost me right now. I think I am going to try making some shakes today and see what I can come up with. I need something different. My doc has us on two weeks of liquids followed by two weeks of pureed then to soft solids.....so one more week of liquids to go. Please keep your comments about how you guys are doing coming, everything is really helping me to understand if I am in the right phase right now. One question though, I noticed that I am getting some foaming for lack of a better term in my mouth. I am not sure if it is after I eat something in particular, I do notice it more after jello than the soup, but it is kind of odd. Have any of you noticed anything like this?

    Post op weight gain

thanks...I needed to be put in my place a bit. I figured it is water weight and I am going to move the scale outside to the garage. You guys are the best!

    Post op weight gain

I am glad you asked this question, I never even thought about all the sodium in the soups but I did buy low sodium when I could find it. I had my surgery on Monday and am up several pounds right now...I figured part of it was swelling but I feel good and have followed the 'rules' to the T so far....kind of frustrating not to see that scale move downward at all, even after several days of eating basically nothing. Hang in there PLNJC, I am going through the same thing as you right now.....I am just so anxious to see some results, it stinks.
  19. Well, I am in bandland now too! I had my surgery on Monday and am doing good. They had a hard time setting my port so I am a bit more sore than most in that area but feel pretty good today. I had a hard time after surgery with going to the bathroom because of all the meds they had given me, but that passed. Yesterday I was hungry for the first time and ate soup. I am not sure how much to eat though....I had 4oz of soup for lunch and 5oz of soup for dinner (cream soup). Does this sound like too much? I got all my protein in through drinking isopure but fell short on the calories by a little. Let me know if you think I am heading in the right direction
  20. Great job Julz723! I know how tough it is...I am on day 5 of my preop liquid diet....it is hard!
  21. RedFiona, we are going to be band buddies, my surgery is the 20th too! So far I am pretty proud of myself with the pre-op diet of nothing but carnation instant breakfast. I haven't cheated and besides a headache I feel pretty good. Nuddybuddy, congrats on the band! I hope you are feeling good and you are definitely in the right place for some support!
  22. Count me in!! I want to be a crazy ate! I am scheduled to be banded on 8-20, next Monday!! Woo Hoo! I started my pre-op diet today...nothing but water and carnation instant breakfast....so far so good, I guess. I am so ready!!

What do I need to get through post surgery?

thanks faithmd....I really searched to find that thread before posting the question....I knew it was here somewhere, I just couldn't find it. I am glad you mentioned getting the adult tylenol because I thought about just using the kids chewables, now I will go and get the adult dose.
  25. Ok, I know this has been discussed but I can't find it anywhere.... :tea: Can someone post the link to the thread of suggestions of supplies to get you through after surgery. Mine is on the 20th and I am trying to prepare for it. I know some suggest gasex, some say a heating pad, etc. I am open to any and all suggestions! If something worked for you, please let me know! Thanks soon to be fellow bandsters!! :whoo:
