Newly Banded in Williamsburg
My 2 cents --I would still go to the appointment (if they do it with floura (sp?)) and discuss with doctor your restriction - and let him view (if he wishes) the band position and such. I will come to Richmond - and see you -- to kick your butt off the bad food choices and into regular exercise -- if you agree to kick mine as well. I too have slowed my exercise and making the bad choices and need to get a grip and back to the PLAN! Getting ready to PMS -- is not helping. Hugs! Gina

Sounds like you are doing great -- I have to come to Williamsburg on Tuesday of this coming week -- I am interviewing 2 guys for a job opening I have in Richmond. I am meeting one at 10:45 and one at Noon at the Cracker Barrell on Bypass Rd. Have a good night everyone!

Bad News everyone -- I called Zannie and the # is disconnected. I sent an email to her personal account and no word. She was going through a very bad time as you can see from another thread she started. She left for family vacation for a week - and has not been heard from since. If I do hear from her - I will let you know.

Heather -- I agree with HarleyNana! I am past my 6 month anniveresary of banded -- and have not had a soda in over 9 months. Okay I will confess - there was 2 seperate occassions I did take a BABY sip of DH's. It wasn't nothing special - I don't miss it at all. I have replaced my adiction with Crystal Light flavors. Sorry everyone - I was gone for week - business conference.

I did not use the seat belt - I know I was bad. Every bump in the road and turning corners hurt if my belly jiggled - so holding my tummy with the pillow limited the movement and the pain! I also asked for a cup of crushed ice to take with me in the car-- I was so dry mouthed. That was great -- I had a 1 hr ride home (Hampton to Chesapeake almost to carolina line on 17S.) I would do it all again! Best wishes.

Newly Banded in Williamsburg
Thanks DonnaJade! I had my 5th fill Thursday -- Dr T thinks I lost 20 lbs in 6 week -- (I checked when I got home -really only 14) I told him no way - he wouldn't give up on it -- so I put my hand on my hip and told him -- "well you better still give me my fill" -- he didn't argue -- wheeew. I was scared reading all the stories here of individuals that don't get one because of the amt of loss. He could barely get .4 cc's in -- he said I won't be needing a fill for a long while, my next appt will be at the office. -- I am at my sweet spot and losing at a good rate (Per him). I am one of those that likes it real - REAL tight (I am guessing). You could tell he was really worried - he kept making me drink water, asking "you don't feel any pressure"- and made sure to tell me to call him no matter what time if I find it to tight -stressing whenever! WOW - that got me second guessing myself if I am/was to tight. Talk about a stressful (1hr) ride home, which did tighten the band in it's self. No problems though -- I did my liquids and today -- I have eatten cashews, popcorn without any issue! Opps - not good choices - just needed to MUNCH! I got my hair cut short yesterday -- and DH took the picture - thanks for noticing. Hugs!

TracyinKS - that is absolutely the best news ever for your son and family!!!!! Everyone - count me in on the trip to Cabin in DC area! I also bought the dark choc mint 3 muskateers - I had too - I had a coupon BOGOF, I haven't eatten them yet (I did say yet!) I also love truffles - Lindt are my favorites and yes I have eatten some each week! I am so sooo bad.... I had my 5th fill today -- he thinks I lost 20 lbs in 6 week -- (I checked when I got home -really only 14) I told him no way - he wouldn't give up on it -- so I put my hand on my hip and told him -- "well you better still give me my fill" -- he didn't argue -- wheeew. The cardiologist..some things she doesn't get
Congrat's on your 38 lbs lost since 9/20. For me - my come back to those in disagreement of my decision is that -- I can lose weight - I have done it many times throughout my life - but I can't keep the weight off - once I stop the "diet" it comes back with extra pounds. You are doing wonderful -- and it is not for everyone -- but I am very happy with my decision and hope you will be as well! It's not "easy" (as some believe it is the easy way out) but so worth it!!!!!!

I got my 1st fill yesterday
I found after my first fill - that 1 week later - it became more restrictive. It is good to go slowly and cautiously as you are. Best of luck!

How much?
That sounds terrible. I get taht way when I eat to fast - don't chew enough, or eat something to dry. I did read in a lapband book - to determine the size of your new stomach - you take cottage cheese, fill up a 1 cup measuring cup. Eat semi quickly stopping when you get full -- and you can determine by the amount missing the size of your new pouch. Hope that helps. When I eat - I place my tuna salad or cottage cheese in 1/2 cup glad storage container and find at 1/4 cup I am full - place the cap in it and eat next time. If I measure 1/4 cup I feel like that won't be enough - weird I know. Best wishes.

Congrat's Keyairah -- My surgery was at 9:30am - my instructions was nothing to eat or drink after midnight (I think it was) the night before. Please do take a pillow to hold on your lap for your ride home in the car - it will help with the bumps in the rode. We are here to provide support --

Hi HarleyNana -- I go for my fill on Thursday - will you be there? My appt is at 1:15 - love to see you there! I will give spinach a try-- the past week plus - restriction is weak -- I can eat lettice again and much much more that i don't even want to admit. I am up 2 lbs - today I went back to the basics - just need to make it to Thursday! I read an article from 2004 (I think) that talked about the 2nd lapband surgery that Doctor T did -- it was in the Daily Press. I was surprised they didn't mention you - go figure....

I was a Dreamer - Minstreal also: any years ago there was a period of time that is often casually called "Medieval." It was a time, so the story tellers tell us, of tiny kingdoms, brave knights and ferocious dragons. ransportation and travel were both crude and difficult, usually necessitating that each kingdom be as self sufficient and self reliant as possible. So it was very important that within each kingdom all the major crafts and professions of the day were ably represented to insure the survival of the kingdom. In the English language we still see remnants of some occupations in the familiar surnames such as Smith, Carpenter, Miller and Baker to name just a few. nterestingly enough, beyond the specific title the vocation also took on its own greater personality. This personality preference can also give a broader understanding of the basic complementary style and types necessary to the kingdom's survival, or perhaps any organization's success. Although the specific vocation influenced the name, it was no accident that certain personality types and styles gravitated to certain occupations. The personality of these jobs suited the inclinations of the job holders, and the predecessor to modern day job descriptions was born. The successful matching of a job-holder's personality to the personality and unique requirements of the job was necessary to the kingdom's survival, or perhaps any organization's success. The successful kingdoms more than likely were able to blend the differences into a powerful and formidable entity. With today's diverse workforce, the corporate kingdom that acknowledges and nurtures these personality preferences could become an organization as successful as the Camelot of old. ven though we now appear to have the freedom to explore many different career alternatives, we still have a medieval vocational personality within each of us. This personality, properly identified and understood, can motivate our success but, if ignored, may set the stage for our ultimate failure. Since times appeared to be simpler then, let us return to the kingdoms of medieval Europe and see what we would have done then, regardless of what our names are now. our distinct personality, The Dreamer-Minstrel might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. You can always see the "Silver Lining" to every dark and dreary cloud. Look at the bright side is your motto and understanding why everything happens for the best is your goal. You are the positive optimist of the world who provides the hope for all humankind. There is nothing so terrible that you can not find some good within it. On the positive side, you are spontaneous, charismatic, idealistic and empathic. On the negative side, you may be a sentimental dreamer who is emotionally impractical. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.
