  1. Anyone out there have terrible hunger pains? I'm actually not even sure that's what they are...It kind of feels like I'm starving. At least two or three times a day I get this terrible epigastric pain/cramping. They do tend to disappear after I eat though. Just strange since I've never had hunger pains like that before
  2. Does it matter which way you sleep? I'm usually a stomach sleeper, but since I got banded I've been sleeping on my back. Haven't really had a good nights rest and I think a lot of it has to do with how I'm sleeping. Want to try new positions, but scared of messing something up.
  3. I was wondering the same thing. I was banded on Friday and yesterday my stomach started producing all these weird noises. It's hard to tell of it's gas, hunger growls, or just plain stomach gurgling. I'm sure the further along we get in the healing process the easier it will get to distinguish the difference. Thanks for sharing.

    Port pain

I was banded on 12/21/12 and the same night into the following day I started to have port pain. Around it and directly underneath it.. I noticed that when I walked around it subsided, so it could've just been gas pains. I also used a heating pas to the site and that seemed to help, too. Hopefully you start to feel better. Good luck!
  5. So I'm just curious, is there a calorie limit during your initial post op phase? I received a packet from my Drs office, but it doesn't list how many calories I should be consuming a day. It just gives me what I should eat, which i'm following. Also, I'm supposed to be consuming 60oz of fluids/day. So far I've only managed to consume 24oz and that's me really trying to drink fluids. I can't really tell when I'm hungry or it's just gas which makes it hard to drink anything. Just wondering what you guys were told.

    Gas pains

Thanks for the helpful advice guys! Got my Gas X, heating pad, and laying in my recliner for the rest of the night.
  7. Hello everyone! Just wondering if any of you all had any advice on what to do with gas pains? I had my lap band done yesterday and I've been doing the whole walking around and changing positions, but it seems like nothing is helping. As soon as I go to lay down I get these excruciating gas pains that have me in tears. Just wondering if there's anything that has worked for y'all.

    Banded Yesterday!

Congrats on getting banded! I too was banded yesterday. Pretty excited to be making this change and getting back to a healthier lifestyle. Good luck on your journey!

    Brand new and freaking out....

I felt the same way after surgery. Immediately after waking from surgery I regretted it, but I think that's mostly the pain. I tend to ask myself why I put myself through all this pain and discomfort and then just remind myself that it's for a better and happier life. That usually erases all the bad things
  10. My doctor warned me about that shoulder pain/gas pain prior to procedure. Never realized how much that would actually hurt. I'm one day post op and the gas pains feel worse than the actual procedure itself. The only thing that helps me is walking around and repositioning myself from a lying to sitting position. Hope you feel better soon
