  1. I'm answering this before I read everyone else's responses because I did not want others to influence my answer. I've been wanting the band for a long time, for years, n had not done much research. As a matter of fact I didn't even know my insurance paid for it and just found out 2 months before I had my surgery that my insurance would actually pay for it. I got the band because I needed the extra motivation some how or another, to eat better. I've always liked my protein, veggies and fruit but always over ate. With my band I feel forced to follow certain rules of a better lifestyle. I was always on diets n just wanted a better lifestyle. I am morbidly obese according to my BMI. The band is going to help me live a better life, a longer life, see my children graduate from high school, n college, see my grand children, help me feel better about myself, give me more confidence, look better, n overall b a healthy. I was so scared to have all my blood work done but was glad to find out that I had no co-morbiditys. I can still b that healthy person I've always wanted to b and my band is going to help me get there.
  2. And your title was so cute.... wth is this huh?? Haha . Lol.
  3. Wow this was the craziest thread I have ever read. How scary for you. I'm glad you know what it is n that you've got some help!
  4. That is my favorite also blended with a banana. Yummy.
  5. I guess I was lucky. I slept well in my bed n read somewhere not to sleep horizontally. I think that's on your side. So I slept on my back propped up on about 4 pillows ( which is what my docs paperwork said to do)
  6. I was wondering about that. Maybe they give small fills cause they get paid every time one goes in to an appointment. Not like they don't make more than we do. That's messed up
  7. Just wanted to share that this morning I went to the gym n decided to do the elliptical for only 15 min. since I was early to my class. To my surprise I burned almost 150 calories n did 1 mile. Of course this varies by weight but I was happy to have burned those calories vs. Sitting my but in my car waiting for class to start!
  8. SJarome can you post some prices when your done with your research please.
  9. Hi me again. I went to the gym this morning earlier than my class started n decided to do the elliptical for just 15 minutes before getting in line for my class. To my surprise I burned almost 150 calories and did 1 mile. So if you have 15 minutes a day n a gym of course, that could be (depending on your weight) about 1000 calories a week! Just something to thing about. Sending motivating prayers your way!
  10. Haha. Well I guess I should track that on my fitness pal then. N better than a quick walk!
  11. Omg. Can't believe this month has gone by so fast and I have been banded for almost a month. Congrats to all of us n good luck to all the bandsters this week!!!
  12. Thank y'all. I'm still chugging (I guess I will have to learn) but geeeeeze I just can't get my water in by sipping. I never have been a water drinker n now that I've been working out so much, I neeeeed water!!! Thanks again for the comments.
  13. Btw I have a family of six, work 40 hours a week, go to school, clean house, cook on most days n make time to work out. It eventually becomes a habit. Try to find something you enjoy. Read the success stories too, that helps me.
  14. How about finding a friend or family member who can hold you accountable. Make a date n time to go out for a walk a couple times a week. I found a friend who likes to work out called her the other day n invited her to walk a 3 1/2 mile walk I like to do. It was fun catching up on our lives n I burned more than 400 calories. I have called many people to do this and many times people will flake but it puts me in that mind set of " I'm going with or without them" good luck.
  15. Love just dance. It is so much fun with the whole family n at parties. We have all four of them. If you like this u would love Zumba like I do. I'm always trying to get peeps to try Zumba. I would do it every day if I could n burns so many calories. We need to find something we enjoy to b successful. Good luck to you!
  16. Yeah friends. Y'all can add me too brannewmee
  17. Fyi. I am a newbie as u call us n you are the reason why I keep telling myself that I'm going to make the band work for me. I don't want to do another diet, counting my calories n measuring. This is the reason I got banded because I couldn't succeed on a diet. I am so proud of you. You have obviously put your hard work in to get where your at.Celebrate , celebrate, celebrate.
  18. Awww. That is so sweet especially coming from the hubby. Their compliments are the best!! Congrats to you
  19. Just curious to those that are frustrated, what type of foods are y'all eating? Not trying to b judgmental. I have been eating mostly protein n usually last about 3-4 hours n eat bout 3-4 Times a day. I just got my first fill yesterday n NOT sure how this will work for me but so far I've eaten twice today n I'm not hungry at the moment (6:30 pm right now) if the choices are not mostly protein I have, then I get hungry fast so I'm always having it unless I have a special craving
  20. I agree with new dawn. My doctor notes from my hospital says no bread rice or pasta (which you mentioned all of those) for three months. I have also read on my hospital notes no red meat, no raw vegetables or fruit for the 1st three months. I have seen my doctor twice since I was banded on Jan second n every time he tells me "no rice, no potatoes, no pasta, no tortillas." I know. I feel like I'm on a diet but the band gave me that extra motivation I needed. If you have an address I can mail copies to you or a fax number. We are all here to help!
