    Frequent UTIs??

I'll do the same, carry water with me. My Dr's rules are no drinking 20 mins before a meal or for 2 hours after a meal. I like your Drs rules better!!

    Frequent UTIs??

Thank you ladies! I've talked to my Dr at length about it and both he and my surgeon seem to think I'm not drinking enough causing concentrated urine. Lol I learned my lesson about UTIs and sex a long time ago :-) I will try to keep Water around constantly. Maybe start out setting alarms on my phone til it becomes habit.

    Frequent UTIs??

Hey everyone! I was banded in December 2012 and since then I've had a few UTIs from not being able to drink as much as I should. I try to space out drinking so that its far enough away from meals but then I get caught up in other things and forget to drink. Anyone else have the UTI problem?

    Post op medication

I had roxicet - liquid Percocet - and it was great. I needed it for about a week but it was mostly just at night or first thing in the morning.

    Another Fill...

congrats!! i also got my first fill today. He put 5ml in my band. Quick and painless! I was told today liquids, tomorrow mushies and Friday solids. He had me drink water in front of him after my fill to make sure it would pass through with no problem. Every surgeon is different.

    Biotin for hair

I take 2 Biotin tabs a day each 5000 mcg. My hair was thinning before I got banded 12/18/12. I've had no issues. I'm not seeing much of a difference but I'm told it could take a few months.

    3 weeks post op

The placement of the 8 and ) changed my 12/18 to the guy with sunglasses. Lol. I was banded 12/18 Thank you cheznoel! If I have only a banana I do have a Protein shake a half an hour before instead of coffee. Bandster hell? Lol it is. I guess it's not horrible. I drink a lot in between meals and it fills me temporarily. I'm also chewing gum in between so I don't grab sweets. I'm definitely eating less than I would without the band but it feels like a lot because I've gotten used to the small portions. Thanks for the response cheznoel!
  9. Hi everyone. I'm just about a month post op (Banded 12/18). I'm down 16 lbs since surgery, 32 lbs total since September. I was feeling restricted in my eating until about a week ago. Now I feel like I'm eating too much before I'm satisfied. I still don't go over my 1000 calories for the day but I'm definitely more hungry than I have been in between meals and I'm not hungry at all until around noon. I force myself to have a banana or a Greek yogurt in the morning, saving most of my calories for lunch and dinner. I go for my 1 month post op appointment on Wednesday so I will ask questions then too. They won't give me a fill until 6 weeks post op. I'm actually happy about that because my port area is swollen and sore. I guess I really don't have a question, I just wanted to put this out there for others who feel and have felt the same way.

    port placement

Mine is on the left just under my rib cage. I feel it every time I move especially when i bend over. But I'm newly banded 12/18. Hoping I don't feel it all the time. Gets uncomfortable.
  11. I was banded on December 18. Instructed to be at the hospital by 6 AM for my scheduled 730 surgery. I got there right around 6 and checked in. Went to a waiting room, sat there for about a half hour til I was called into the OR holding room where they started getting me ready. The first thing they did is a pregnancy test. I guess everyone under 40 gets one at this hospital. Then I got into my beautiful hospital johnnie and slipper socks. The nurse put an anti nausea patch behind my ear that was good for 3 days. Then she started an IV. I was then given a heparin shot in my stomach. Next was 2 different anti nausea meds into the IV and my lacerated ringers (like Gatorade but through the IV). It's was then time to wait... Anesthesia came to talk to me, then the surgical team came in. The doc was last to arrive at 730 and he spent a few mins with me explaining the procedure. My friend the anesthesiologist came back and put something that made me very happy and relaxed into my IV. I was loopy by the time we hit the OR. 8:00 Transferred to the table, mask on the face and out like a light. Woke up in recovery at 1015. My surgery had been over since 915ish. Very groggy in recovery but the nurses were great. Have me ice chips right away. They even washed the surgical soap off of me. Did I mention that I went into the OR in one gown and came out in another?? Lol they got a free show! My surgeon requires an overnight stay but I didn't mind. I would have come home to chaos anyway... Was nice to be able to rest. I was put on a dilaudid PCA pump and allowed to hit the button every 6 minutes as needed. I didn't need it much. Was up walking around a few hours after surgery and even went pee. Walked a few more times then bed. 730 am barium swallow and 9 am out the door. I would do it again in a second. I'm 10 days post op now and feel pretty good. No complaints.

    Question for the ladies...

Lol thank you Floridays! I can definitely rule out pregnancy my husband had a vasectomy 4 years ago.

    Newley banded.

I'm so glad you posted this!! Im 9 days post op and my doc put me directly on mushies but I can't handle it! It's too much!! I feel bloated and gassy all the time. If I have protein shakes and crystal light or water I'm ok. But once I have anything remotely thicker than that I've got bloating and gas and a pain under my left rib cage that doesn't go away without pain meds... The roxicet, not Tylenol.
