Soft Stop.... Do you have one?

I do the big sigh. And about 5-10 minutes after eating I hiccup just once. Weird stuff isn't it?
  2. Ditto Det...I can't believe how much more I appreciate the taste of food since I'm actually taking the time to chew it! I have a whole new appreciation!

    My first plateau, an observation....

I was the same. Lost 7lbs the week after surgery. Weeks 2 and 3...nada. Got on solids starting week 4 and lost 4.5 lbs in 5 days. I'm just trying to roll with it. I think once your body recovers more it will kick start up again. Hang in there!

    List of cant do's

Ditto the others on restrictions. No lifting over 10 pounds and no an exercises. I was driving the next day but I never took any of the pain meds. I was also back to work at a desk job 4 days after my surgery. But everyone is different. If you need time to heal then take it. If you are good to go then have at it. Good luck!!!

    BRA PROBLEM!!

Maybe go to the store and try on a couple of different styles? Is it rising too high or too low? Bras definitely serve their purpose but mine always comes off when I get home and am in for the night. But I've always been like that so for me it had nothing to do with surgery! :-). But if it feels that way for you even without the bra on could it be your posture? I find out that mine bothers me more when I tend to slouch and if I straighten up it feels better. Not sure if that would help? I tend to slouch when I'm sitting at work and not even realize it.

lunch and dinner meal ideas for work ??

Angie - you are very welcome. And I've never done it but I don't see why you can't heat up the canned chicken. I've seen hot recipes that use the canned chicken as a base.

lunch and dinner meal ideas for work ??

Angie - I feel for you. I was working full time and part time at night. Just quit the PT job so I can have some time to cook and eat properly but I am the queen of convenience with meals ready in 5-10 minutes. Sometimes when I had a some time I would stroll the deli counter and frozen food section just to see what was around and wasn't totally bad for you. I wish you lots of luck. It's a bit tougher with no time for cooking but it is possible! :-)

lunch and dinner meal ideas for work ??

Angie - if you like roast chicken you can always buy a whole roasted chicken already cooked from the store. Just portion it out for lunch. Green giant makes microwaveable singles of some veggies or you can have some raw veggies to go with? Or how about canned tuna or even the ready made tuna in the pouches? Or canned chicken? If you can handle red meat there are the pre cooked frozen Italian or Swedish meatballs in the frozen section? I don't have a whole bunch of time either so I'm always looking for quick and convenient myself.

    Water

I also used to drink a gallon a day pre band but not anymore. You're right...between no drinking 30 minutes and 60 minutes before/after meals and no gulping. I can't imagine getting a gallon down now. I finally got to the point that I can do the 64 though and for now I'm happy with that.

    Bras

Ditto Hely. Mine is on the left nowhere near my underwire.

What are you most looking forward to?

B52 - I've been there before and I remember I was painfully cold! But I figure its a lot more attractive than sweating like a pig with the slightest exertion!

    dinner tonight

Plain is definitely a necessity. I think I would try them all!

    I don't want to eat

Peaceful - just goes to show how different we all are. Starvation doesn't work for me which I think is a good thing! I started eating and the weight is coming off. Again, I protein load and add some full fat. That's what works for me and was ok'd by my doc. Keep track and see what the nutritionist has to say. But don't give up! You will get there before you know it!

    dinner tonight

Debbie - thanks...Walmart is all I have near my house and that's where I do most of my shopping. I have to stop in tonight so ill definitely look. The fact that its pre seasoned also helps when you want a no fuss dinner. Thanks for the tip!

    What A Bunch Of Crap!

My insurance will cover if you have a BMI of 40 or 30-39 along with a comorbidity. I have no comorbidities but I was way over 40 BMI. Heck, I could probably gain four pounds after eating one meal! Good luck!!!

    QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Ditto the others. My absolute biggest concerns were the malabsorption and too rapid weight loss with the other surgeries. I prefer to get my nutrients from food and lose at a slower pace.

    dinner tonight

Posting recipes is contagious...this site got me going on the laughing cow cheese with tuna. I haven't seen the Perdue portioned chicken yet but will certainly keep my eyes open for it. I hate having to cut and individually wrap my meat before freezing. I do it of course but it would be nice if it already came that way!

    I don't want to eat

Peaceful - I think eating lean high protein such as chicken and fish automatically brings the calories down versus eating chicken and fish that's been breaded and deep fried. My calories hover between 600-800 per day and I'm full too. If you have a nutritionist maybe you can have them take a look or give you a few ideas? For me I use real butter (a pat a day) or an ounce of full fat regular cheese to up my cals. I discussed with my doc and for me that's ok. Maybe see what yours says. By doing this my weight started coming off again. Whatever happens stay motivated. Our bodies are having to totally readjust and they are bound to be a bit confused at the changes we've made. I think you are doing awesome!

    December Bandwagon Supporters

Victorious - Congrats in the weight loss! You sound like you are doing well! My weight loss just started back up again when I started solid foods this past week. Hang tight...it's not you. Most likely the body just adjusting!

    I don't want to eat

Peaceful - I didn't lose anything post op when I Started mushies and soft foods. I am one of those whose weight loss comes to a dead halt if I don't eat enough. Since I started solids I am packing in the protein 3 times a day and my weight started dropping again. Maybe you need more protein? Also, don't rush it. The band is meant for slow and steady weight loss. I want mine to come off fast too but if rather have it steady and not have to worry as much about my hair falling out or excess skin. Hang tight...I'm sure you are doing absolutely great! Just make sure you take care of your health. :-)
  21. You go girl! Hot stuff!!!!

    dinner tonight

Thinmint - we are on the same train of thought...I tossed some boneless skinless breasts seasoned with cumin and chili powder into a crockpot with black beans, enchilada sauce, and green Chili's. Its almost done and smells delish!

    Question about pre-op diet

Not all docs require a liquid diet. Some require none and others require Atkins style, etc. The reason they do it is to decrease the fat around the liver which lays right in front of the stomach and they have to lift it up and out of the way during surgery. I had to do bariatric advantage protein shakes and sugar free clear liquids for 15 days before surgery. To me it was all part of the process of getting ready to get banded. I think it also helped me get mentally ready for the band by not being able to eat solid foods and having to exercise self control to get there. Keep in mind as others say...you do have to use self control with the lap band. You can have just about all the foods you eat now and those slide right through and you can gain weight anyway. A lot of people have to fight head hunger. You may not be hungry but you can still down a pint of ice cream even if you are banded. My doc made darn well sure I was very well informed before having the band done. In my opinion you have to be very mentally ready to get the band. Browse the other threads and you will see a lot of posts from newcomers wondering why the band isn't stopping them from eating. It was a great choice for me but I say research research and research to make sure it is the right choice for you. I wish you lots of luck and success!

    Anyone try not weighing themselves?

I'm the same as Missy and Floridays. I get on in ghe morning and at night. I just want to stay on top of it because God forbid I don't realize I'm eating something I shouldn't...weight gain on the scale is going to make me stop and reevaluate what I'm doing. However if you are the type that will get discouraged if you don't see a five pound drop then it probably wouldn't be a wise thing to do. :-)

App to Remind to Drink Water

Tara - I hear you on that. Same thing happens to me at work. But I suppose in that case an app wouldn't help either unless we had our phones and water bottles with us constantly. When I have the opportunity (aka being at my desk) I try to drink as much as I can. Or on my drive to work. I've got the 64oz down now but I want to increase. I think you will get there. We just need to get into the habit.
