    Emergency Band Removal

First let me say, you did amazing with the band! I know exactly where you are. I had my hand removed for similar reasons back in March. I was dependent upon the band for restriction as well. I knew it was there and I hadn’t lost any more weight but I hadn’t gained either. I knew I would miss my band. While I never made it to goal, I have kept off roughly 65 pounds. I had my band for 8 years. Don’t feel stupid. Know that you can keep it off on your own. The last three months I have started working out more and watching what I eat. (In full disclosure I will be having VSG done soon.) You can do this.

    Big day tomorrow!

Thank you for following up. Glad to hear you are doing well.  My band was removed (after 8 years) in March and I will be getting sleeved soon.
  3. In an attempt to start 2017 on the right foot and use my band, I made an appointment to see my surgeon for a fill. He sent me for an upper GI which I had on Thursday. The radiologist showed me several of the pictures in which my port is placed, the catheter that transports the saline is there but there is no band placed around my stomach. He had me turn various ways and took pictures but he could not see the band at all. He said there was no indention in my stomach whatsoever. He expedited the pictures to my surgeon and I expect to hear from them early next week. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Background: I was banded December 2012 and lost a total of 67 pounds from pre-op diet to 2016. I recently put on 10 pounds after having my son.

    Band no longer in place?!?

The radiologist was completely dumbfounded. I have been having episodes similar to what happens when you are stuck for several months now. The radiologist is now wondering what is causing that considering the band is not around my stomach and my esophagus and swallowing were perfect on screen.

I was banded Dec 19, 2012 and my pain lasted maybe four or five days. The best advice I can give you is to move around as much as possible. Even after your port pain is gone the gas pains (mine in my shoulder) are killer.

    Our One Year Approaches!

I had my sixth fill on Monday of this week and I finally feel the band is really working for me. I am not hungry between meals and my portion sizes are a lot smaller. Since surgery last year I am around 65 pounds down. Now that I actually fill some restriction I expect that number will be higher by the close of 2013. I am excited for all of us.

    NSV

I work in a 10 story building with several different businesses on each floor. Today as I boarded the elevator to go up to the 9th floor a lady who I have never met (who works on the 2nd floor) said, "You have lost a lot of weight! Keep up the good work!" My coworker gave me a high five and I did a little victory dance the rest of the elevator ride. Great motivation going into the 10th month of this journey.

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!

I am 8 months and 2 days post op and I have plateaued at 60 pounds loss. I went to my surgeon yesterday an I now have 5.5cc in a 10 cc band. The last couple of months have been busy and stressful. I have not been able to exercise as much and my eating choices have not been that great. Keeping in mind that this is a marathon and not a sprint, I am very happy with progress. We all should be thrilled with how far we come. I know it's easy to get bummed when you are others losing more but everyBODY is different. We can do this. We will get to goal!

    Hitting my first plateau :(.

So glad you posted this. I was banded 12/19 and i have hit my first plateau. It's not fun but try to keep a positive outlook. I am still down below 300. That's a win for me. Look for the little things to keep you motivated.

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!

I am right there with you. I am playing with the same five pounds on the scale and it seems like I can't get past it. I was very used to seeing the scale moving downward. I am trying to stay positive though. I have not tipped back over 300. That in itself is good enough for me.

    Can i take metformin????

I was on 1000 before surgery but after being banded it was too much and my sugar levels dropped way too low. Metformin is the generic of Fortmet which also comes in an extended release. Fortamet is smaller with a coating thy makes it easier to go down but it is more expensive. Of course you need to discuss everything with your physician.

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!

I am six months and four days out and I am stalled around 60 pounds loss. I try not to be upset dealing with the stall. Its not going to happen overnight. I go see my surgeon on Tuesday for another fill. I only have 3cc in a 10cc band. I feel great. There is a huge difference between the me in November and the me now. I am more active and I feel a lot better about myself. I am under 300 now- haven't been down this low in at least ten years. I am super excited about the progress that is being made. I hope you all are having a great experience as well.
