  1. Glad to hear that! Stay hydrated and try to get your protein in. Don't rush anything else.
  2. So eating soups can be ok? How does that match the rules-protein, veggie, possible starch? New to this and I know I need lots of ideas for lunch at work.
  3. I loaded myfitnesspal on my phone and started using it and I think because of that I didn't eat everything in site. I wanted to practice using it before so I could be sure I like it and in the end I think it kept me accountable.
  4. I just had blood work and an EKG. And no pre-op diet. Everyone and every dr is different.
  5. I put in my vitamins. Mainly so I can remember to take them. But they count as almost 10 calories. Lol.
  6. Oh! And I made it with 8oz of water and then added the other soups. Didn't use them as the base.
  7. I use the Unjury chicken broth. I found an organic French onion soup at Walmart that if I just add 1/4 cup of that to the Unjury it tastes so much better. Also mixed it with some miso and wonton soups from a local restaurant and like it. You might try something like that.
  8. Try to limit your fat intake to under 20 grams/day for awhile. My 17 yr old son had to have his gb removed and a very low fat diet helped him not have diarrhea. Your gb holds bile that the liver produces which is used in the digestion of fats. Unfortunately now the bile goes straight to intestines. No gb to regulate the amount. So staying low fat helps the liver not produce as much. Then slowly go back up to an amount of fat your system can stand.
  9. I like the unjury brand after trying several. Starter kit is a good suggestion as you get a thermometer which helps follow the instructions on the package exactly.
  10. Is the group still actively meeting? Newly banded. Live in Arlington and work in downtown Dallas. Please reply here or send me a PM. Would live to meet some people on the same journey as me.
  11. I understood you fully the first time but have no experience with the topic. There's a mental health forum you might try posting there for more accurate feedback/discussion.
  12. I was asking about after mushy stage when one begins to eat "normal". I might be wrong about the amounts, I'll have to double check. But still it seems it would be hard to accomplish even with the reduced amounts of veggie and starch in 20 minutes.
  13. Newly banded on 12/19 so I'm still on mushies and trying to figure it all out. Standard instructions seem to be 3-4 oz of Protein followed by 1 cup of veggies and 1/2 cups of carbs if still hungry staying under a calorie limit set by doctor. I'm clear on that. The method of eating is confusing me. Take very small bites and chew fully. (Check) Wait one minute between bites. (Check) Don't eat longer than 20 minutes. (Ch....Confused!) In all seriousness, if I take small bites and wait in between I can't imagine even getting the protein eaten in 20 minutes let alone the veggie and possible starch. I tried this with a 1/2 cup if cottage cheese and didn't finish it within 20 minutes. Any insight is appreciated.
  14. I bought a few toddler plates. Cost just a few bucks and are dishwasher safe. There's a silly part of me that wants to get a few with cartoon characters on them. Or I might find a few fine china salad plates. Anything to keep me amused and not piling food on.
  15. Thanks! I need to go get some cottage cheese and some egg beaters. Appreciate you!
  16. So I get to start mushy foods in a few days. Any ideas on high protein foods? I'll prolly still have a shake but want to make sure I'm getting protein elsewhere. Thanks!
  17. So what about NSVs. What is something small that you are going to be proud of? I think I'll be quite happy when my boots slide up easily over my calves. What's yours?
  18. 8oz is one cup do yes 1/2 cup is four ounces. I went and bought some cheap measuring cups at Walmart so I wouldn't have to keep measuring the one I had over and over.
  19. My understanding is that clothes are sized differently than they used to be. You hear the comment that Marilyn Monroe was a size 12. But she was quite small though curvy. In today's clothes she would wear a 6 or possibly smaller.
  20. Yes. They gave me antibiotics to ensure no infections. And I have no idea if they gave me anything via IV. I didn't even make it to the OR before I was out of it and when I woke my IV was out.
