  1. Yes, huge words of wisom. Follow your doctors orders to the T, don't veer off, don't listen to others, ONLY YOUR DOCTOR and you will be awesome.

The first 4-6 weeks is imperative to healing, so eat only as directed!!

This site is great for information, actually a lot of excellent recommendations from fellow banders, but your doctor trumps every time!!!!

I was banded Dec 4, I am down 31 pounds......I am very pleased. I started mushies when I was supposed to, I started solids as I was supposed to, I DID NOT take any short cuts and start a day early etc.

Good Luck in your banding....its an entire new life for us ;) 2013 is our time to shine!!!

Let us know how it goes.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  2. Geez I know how you are feeling. I was the "party girl" drinking and eating, always going out and now since Dec 1 pre-op diet I have been staying home a lot. Most of my friends don't get it and are upset with me, but you know what I don't care because in one year I will be down to my goal weight.

As far as your husband goes maybe he will try to start eating healthier with you and be more supportive. I am sure in the back of his mind he is like omg she is going to lose all this weight and take off on me, and it does happen. My friend had gastric bypass two years ago and her husband is constantly spying on her, texting her, questioning her etc. Maybe having a heart to heart with him with help? Is he receptive to talks?

Good luck with YOUR WEIGHT LOSS. Happy New Year!!!

  3. Hi there,

This is very common. I never had the Esophagogastroduodenoscopy but my surgeon told me it is extremely common to have a haital hernia and that he would repair it at no extra charge while he was inserting the lapband.

He did find a hiatal hernia and he repaired it. I never knew it!

    GOOD LUCK!!

  4. Yeah these boards are definitely a HUGE HELP before and right after banding. I knew just what to expect and it went smoothly. My doctor didn't tell me about gas pains and using a heating pad!!

It is nice to have long time banders give their experience and knowledge away!!

    Good luck!!!

  5. CONGRATULATIONS!!

I agree very empowering.......it is an amazing feeling to be in control.

Off to crossfit gym tomorrow. The workout we are doing is the Sandy Hook work out that is dedicated to the teacher Victoria. I am looking forward to this.

    ;)

  6. Hi,

    Congrats!

I use a vitamix works great. My friend has the one you have and it works just fine. pineapple is a little tough for her but all the berries and bananas do well.

I bought a bunch of 4 oz portion tupperware containers. (baby section at target, so inexpensive) I shove all my food in there and eat it all! I gave away all my 24 oz portion containers. I also bought metal measuring cups for tablespoon size measurements.
