  1. Yeah def some people don't get it. When I was in graduate school there was a very large man probably about 700 pounds. There was a thread posted on our main campus website how disgusting it was for this man to be going through medical school with everyone else and that how would any patient respect him. The posts got nasty but one post stuck out to me. a 5'6 girl of 117 pounds wrote. "It is simple Calories in and Calories out, work out and take care of yourself, there is absolutley no reason for him to be 700 pounds"

If you don't have a weight problem you will never understand what we go through.

People don't get even though you have WLS it isn't the end all, we still have to work at this. Still watching our "calories in and calories out" Some people really are ignorant. pfft!! I believe I am working much harder now with my new lifestyle change than I have ever did before my WLS.

We have to ignore these people and do what is best for ourselves. Comments like these are exactly why I chose to only tell my mom dad and sister!!

Good luck to you all and don't let others get into your head, this is our life and our journey!!!

  2. haha Patty I too am a obsessive food logger. I even log my liquid Vitamins calories!! I love My fitness pal.

I started losing from pre-op and been steady losing still!! Whoever told me about MFP, thank you!!

I am positive for me that is, that if I wasn't using a food tracker I wouldn't be losing the significant amount of weight that I have lost. My idea of cups, oz, tablespoons before I started tracking was WAY OFF. But now that I am in reality with my measurements it is working so much better for me!!

    Good luck!!

  3. Hello,

I was also self pay. My surgeon said it is very common for obese people to have hiatal hernias and never know about it. He said while he was in there and I had a repair he would stitch it up for me for no additional cost.

When he went in to perform the surgery, I did have the hernia and he repaired it!

    Good luck!!

  4. Hi Same,

I am a part of this group and the recipes are helpful. I am also only 11 weeks out and already getting bored of some foods. I am lucky though I can eat bread and Pasta. So far I am good with every food I eat.

    I am down 55 pounds now.....so happy.

I made pumpkin Protein cupcakes last week for Snacks.

YUMMY. So yeah it is worth joining the group for recipes and also I email Helen for specific meals I am looking for!

    ;)
