  1. That's so sad. I can't for the life of me imagine why you would still support a president who at every turn has managed to screw everything up so horrifically, has appointed corrupt incompetents to vital posts, not only refuses to apologize, but just calls up gay marriage and immigration to distract from the real issues. As for throwing more money at Medicare, who said anything about that? Shrub won't even let Medicare negotiate drug prices, has threatened to veto any bill that even suggests allowing this. If that isn't at the very heart of corruption, I don't know what is.
  2. I was banded last Thursday and am flying to New York tomorrow. It's about a 3 1/2 hour flight. I tried looking on the boards to see if anyone has had any problems flying after being banded, but couldn't find a proper thread. Any thoughts?
  3. I think abortion is a better alternative to creating a generation of unwanted children who suffer abuse, abandonment and neglect. Those children, in turn, grow up to be rapists, serial killers, murderers and child abusers themselves. Is it really that important to bring a life into this world no matter what?
  4. To all the Shrub supporters: I think it's interesting that Clinton lied about a personal matter and was subsequently impeached. AG Gonzales makes no attempt to hide his servitude to the Bush Administration while showing contempt for Congress. He lied to Congress about his actions by which he used his office to politicize a supposedly independent branch of government. There is no contest as to which is more aggregious. So will Gonzales get burned at the stake? Nope. He won't even lose his job. The Administration will probably try to divert our attention with gay marriage or immigration issues. After all, he's just doing what Shrub wants him to do, like Brownie, Rumsfeld and all the other corrupt incompetents who have just quietly resigned, and have not even so much admitted their their errors -- and people who support him can share in that shame.
  5. The doctor who posted it is a quack. His website looks like a spammers' site. Almost everything he posts is just advertising for MGB. Shame on him for exploiting his patients the way he does.
  6. While religion can be such a comfort, it also has been the cause of so much grief and suffering. Why can't people just let other people live and worship as they want? The world would be a much better place if people just stopped getting outraged just because another person doesn't believe the way they do.
  7. I was thinking the same thing! What happened at VT was horrible, but in the scope of things it's a drop in the bucket. This type of thing happens on a daily basis in Iraq...and Darfur, only they do it with machetes. I can't even imagine being in the middle of that kind of violence. We didn't even blink when it was being done in Bosnia and Rwanda... I wonder if we even deserve this beautiful planet we've been given...
  8. That is a horrible story! I'm so glad your son is OK, but Geeez, what a thing to go through, especially when you're already going through so much. I'm glad you and your family are all right!
  9. I'm vegetarian and I'm big as a house! I'm not Vegan, I eat cheese, and I love bread, which is why I'm a fat vegetarian! Perhaps being on the Band Wagon I can become Vegan! I'm veg because of ethical reasons, although I love meat and will on very rare occasion eat humanely local raised meat sometimes, and fish.
  10. I had Dr Thomas Brown in Denver. I'm not impressed thus far, except for the fact that I didn't have any complications and am healing nicely. But it's been a week and I haven't even gotten so much as a how are you call. They didn't tell me about gas, about feeling hungry, shoulder pain, nothing, which is why I love this board so much! I'm impressed you had so much courage to go to Mexico. One hears many horror stories as well, though, and it's so far away if complications arise. Who does your fills?
  11. My surgeon didn't even come in to see me in recovery! The hospital called, they were incredible, but even when I called to schedule my two week post op appointment the receptionist knew I'd just had the surgery and didn't even take the time to ask how I was doing. I was just wondering if I'm being a big baby and expecting too much. :violin:
  12. I've not heard anything about Dean and his remark, so I can't comment. The elderly are worse off thanks to Bush and Co. Do you know any elderly patients? I doubt you work with patients directly, but are most likely an administrator who sees nothing of the havoc this new plan has wrought. My mom is on Medicare and this month she has to choose between managing her pain or taking her neuropathy meds because she's reached her quota. Many of her friends are in the same boat. The only reason no oil has been got, is because Bush and Co. thought we'd be "greeted as liberators", instead we helped start a civil war. No time to drill! As for the Iraqis getting anything, if there are any left after this, we'll see. They're either leaving or being killed by the hundreds weekly. The "enemy combatants" have received no trials. They're allowed no counsel. How do we know they're innocent or guilty until the evidence against them is presented? How do you know that "the few people who didn't belong there" have been released? No one imprisoned there is even allowed to talk to their families, much less the press or an attorney. No one is even allowed to acknowledge who is imprisoned there. I'm sorry I have to generalize, but I think after all this administration has done, anyone who still supports this president is either willfully ignorant, or corrupt. People villified Clinton for lying about a blowjob (rather than the other myriad mistakes he made), but they refuse to demand that this administration be held accountable for the evil it has committed. Far worse than sexual misconduct. I used to be a Proud Republican, too. No more.
  13. OK, so how happy am I that I'm having regular BMs!?!! Is this a ridiculous thing to be so overjoyed about?
  14. I'm a card carrying liberal (literally) and I want a gun. I think a gun is the only equalizer, especially as a woman.
  15. You people act as if it's done every day. Late term abortions only occur when the life of the mother is in jeopardy. Any reputable doctor would never perform one casually. This is no victory, but an empty ruling to appease the anti-choice contingent out there. Congratulations on feeling superior!
  16. I still have cramps all the time!! I, too, am not much of a sweets person, and I cannot even look at the Jello.
  17. These aren't sweeping generalizations. Bush and his cronies -- the Republican party in general -- are not sympathetic to the environment, to the working poor, to the elderly on medicare, to civil rights. Ann Coulter can call John Edwards a "faggot" and she gets applause and laughs. The elderly can't pay for their prescriptions because they've reached their max, so they have to choose between pain meds or heart pills. We've run out of places to drill, so let's go invade Iraq. We can't prove the people in Guantanamo are terrorists, so let's just hold them there indefinitely, until they die of old age or confess under torture. We don't need to say it, they do.
  18. What about getting the subcutaneous injection? That would be your best bet. So sorry you're sick!
  19. I only had to be on Clear liquids for three days and I thought I was going to lose my mind. When I had the no sodium cream of mushroom Soup in the hospital it was heaven. You have to be on liquids afterwards, too, but it's totally worth it! Hang in there!
  20. Hi everyone! I was banded April 12 (last Thursday)! I hope I can join the ranks of the April Gang! So excited to be in Band Land! Jen
  21. I only had to do three days of clear liquids, and I thought I would cry. I'm 6 days post op on full liquids and much happier. Although still cranky.
  22. The clear liquid diet was terrible. I had to do that three days prior to surgery and that was so depressing. I was dreaming about bananas. I'm six days post op now and the full liquid diet, while not completelely satisfactory) is soooo much better!
