  1. Hi everyone! This forum is great! I have learned far more than just with my dr alone. He's not the most forthcoming individual. :phanvan I was just banded Thursday, April 12 and am still pretty sore. I had a friend who was banded on a Thursday and was back at work Saturday. She just thinks I'm a bigger baby than she was. :notagree My question is: How soon does the soreness go away?
  2. I've been doing the strips and the Rollaids chewable thingies - they taste like Starbursts! I think walking is the best medicine, though!
  3. Three days of clear liquids before...it was hell.
  4. I left that night. In at 7, surgery at 9 out by 8. I could've stayed overnight, but they said I was doing so well I could go home and we were supposed to have a blizzard, which didn't happen. I slept better at home though I think!
  5. How much cheese do you eat? Any specific kinds? I was just banded, and am still on liquids, but was curious...
  6. It's different for everyone, I just thought getting banded was a way to get healthy. Pizza and hamburgers is nice once in a great while, but it's not exactly health food. Pizza being the one food I could live on happily, I'm a little afraid of tackling it!
  7. I think it's odd that you paid all this money, went through the pain of the surgery and want to go back to old eating habits, pizza, hamburger and the like. Why? :faint:
  8. Hi everyone! I'm scheduled to be banded tomorrow and I'm really nervous! I've been on the clear liquid diet for three days now and I'm headachy, but otherwise ok. This board has been a wealth of information, so thanks to all of you for your insight and advice! I'm reallly hungry! :hungry: Jen
  9. Three visits? Try another doctor. One visit is enough.
  10. If you say so! I know I have no control, but you know yourself better than anyone!
  11. Try Stevia. It's a natural, calorie-free sweetener that has no aftertaste or chemicals. It's very good and has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar. For more information, go to http://www.stevia.com.
  12. YAY ROCKO! Er, should I say, Rocky? Congrats!
  13. So, the key is to walk a lot after surgery to keep the gas at bay?
  14. Smoking makes you hungry, and isn't that defeating the purpose?
  15. I'm getting mine April 12 and I'm thinking the same thing! I'm actually stressing more about the 3 pre-op liquid diet days!
  16. Oh no, I love sushi! I'm going back to NY two weeks after my surgery to visit friends, and I'm worried. This is really good to know, thanks!
  17. I'm just wondering, and don't mean to sound all weird and judgmental, but I'm going on a trip two weeks after my surgery, and plan to follow my plan, but I'm wondering if I slip up will I be at risk?
  18. How soon did you start on the mushy food?
  19. I think the original post was about sugar free vs sugar and the like and got off track with many being alarmed with one poster bragging that she wasn't following her post op instructions at all, eating mushy foods when she should still be on the straw diet. Personally, after having been cut open and something inserted into my body, I would do as my surgeon says. A piece of plastic near the heart is nothing to f*** with. As for sweeteners, I love stevia. It's natural, no calories and no chemicals!
  20. Wow. So much to learn. My doctor really hasn't told me much. My surgery's scheduled for April 12 and I've heard nothing about most of the above. Just the liquid diet needs to start three days before my surgery. I'm freaking out a little. Just a little.
  21. Has anyone gone to Dr Thomas Brown in Denver? I'm scheduled to get my lap band April 12 and just wanted to get some up to date testimonials. Thanks!
  22. I saw the thread headline and it made me angry. I guess people like to bait each other, but I'm really nervous about my surgery (just got scheduled today), so perhaps I'm hypersensitive. I'm taking things too seriously, I guess. Thanks!
  23. Mine's scheduled for April 12, so i know how you feel! I'm nervous, though! Good luck!
  24. There is nothing more revolting and frightening than mean-spirited, self-righteous, judgemental, intolerant "Christians" (Christ would never talk the way you do) who have nothing better to do than label people. Ugh. I came on this forum for help and support, not to listen to garbage from homophobes.
