Yay! I got my surgery date 3/13/13!!
-
Yes I have to go buy my vitamins, muscle milk light ect. this weekend. So very exciting!
-
To be more specific "pseudo-tumor cerebri"

I was just wondering if anyone has had this and if this helps you to get approved quicker bc it is directly due to obesity. I know this cant help you get approved alone. ***aetna***
-
I understand its not a comorbitity, I want to know if it effects there decision because it is directly linked to obesity.

I was on topamax for migraines and never lost a pound lol <<shrug>> -
I'm in NY .....I learned after that shooting in Connecticut that having guns in the house is a bad idea.
-
I love how people who never had a weight issue are putting their two cents in about my choice to do lap band surgery. The best part is they are telling me what I need to do before getting surgery. Thanks, but I'll leave that up to my doctors and Aetna's requirements. Iol ridiculous ignorance about WLS

If I gain a little weight during this supervised diet, is that bad for Aetna to see? -

There are a lot of different types of Aetna. I live in NY and have Aetna ppo (high). I need 6mo supervised from my doctor + 2years being overweight + everything else. I am 3 months in. -

Thanks maddy...so as long as its once during each month it's okay, right? I go the last week of every month, that should be okay right? -
Well my doctor had a peer to peer review and they said most people with Aetna are going to start to have at home studies. It is much cheaper then at a lab.
-
Trying to get approved for my sleep study in lab and they rejected me. I am going to be having an at home sleep study. Does anyone know the differences in diagnosing sleep problems between the both?
-
It is weird but after going for all these pre-op requirements I feel more nervous about getting approval from my insurance company- and less nervous about getting banded
-
Thank you :-)

I am going to be going for a sleep study. I sleep very poorly and take naps at least 4 or 5 times a week. For the first time in my life the more illnesses I have and the more I weigh, the better. It's all very odd lol. Obesity is very accepted on here. What a breath of fresh air.

I live in ny and have Aetna ppo....for the past year I have had a bmi of 40+. My doctor wanted me to make a list of failed weight efforts, about a year and a half ago I got down to a bmi of 36 but then went right back up. Do you thing I will have a problem getting approved by insurance if I have no co- morbidities but have been over a bmi of 40 for most of my adult life?
