  1. I had my band placed on 10/11/12. I also started therapy for compulsive overeating the next week, since I know my battle with food is far more psychological than physical. Perhaps you'd benefit from the same approach? I'm totally addicted to bad carbs and I still have no idea how to get over that, but I know someone does, and I'm going to learn....I promise myself... I've tried before and I KNOW I can't do this alone. And I can't just read a book to make the urges go away. I have to heavily invest in my own recovery and myself. I want to like myself again more than anything. The rest, I hope, will come. Good luck and I admire you for putting your fears out there! You CAN do this!

    October 2012 Bandsters

Question regarding first fill I was banded October 11. I get hungry maybe once a day and have yet to reach 1000 calories in a day - though I'm close. I'm scheduled for a fill this Tuesday. Do I have to have a fill? Should I have a fill? Advice wanted, please. I am having no trouble with the band. No PB. I get all of my water and all of my protein most days. I'm eating some solids like moist chicken, beans, etc. Thanks in advance! Jenymac

    Newbie Here!

I was banded Oct 11 - in the Dallas area, too. Ready to try a regular diet later this week and awaiting my first fill next week. Very excited to add this tool to my armamentarium against obesity. I've been walking, but excited to be released to do more - not sure what that will involve yet.... I also threw away my scale - at the advice of my eating disorder therapist. I have not regretted it for a second! I'm less focused on the number and more focused on taking care of myself. I am in this to win it, so I started therapy the week after my band was placed. Compulsive overeater - learning to reward and comfort myself without food will be challenging, but I am up for it! Good luck, everybody!
  5. For those of you on a 'regular' diet: I'm about to graduate from mushies, but my caloric intake has been abysmal - 300-400 per day. I know I need to get 1000 calories per day to maximize weight loss. Do you get this in 3 regular meals? Do you have to snack to make it? Thanks for your advice/input.
  6. need some ideas - I'm expecting my unjury tomorrow and looking forward to getting some Protein in at last. Thanks for any ideas!

    October 2012 Bandsters

Hi all! I was banded on 10/11/12, so I'm still on clears. I'm feeling good but having a hard time getting any Protein in. The shakes make me nauseated and I haven't found anything I can stomach for protein yet. (I only got down about 10 gm yesterday and I know that's nowhere near what I need.) I've ordered the unjury stuff cause I hear it's *pretty good*. Happy to be here! Can't wait for mushies....
  8. Okay, I just called my doctors office - suggestions were 1. get the PURE Protein from walmart, put a package in a blender with a few strawberries, half a banana, and an ice cube - blend until liquefied. 2. get the test tube protein shots from GNC. they are high protein, low-volume. not so tasty, but you get your protein in in about 2 shots/day. HTH.

    Frustrated With It All!!

I was also banded 10/11/12 and I'm struggling to get what I need. The Protein shakes make me want to throw up, and I now have nausea, since last night. I also cried this morning (for unrelated reasons) and feel like I swallowed enough snot/drainage (sorry) such that it will be days until I'm can drink anything but Water again... But I'm terrified of getting that 'weak' feeling that comes from not getting enough protein.... waiting...
  10. I was banded 10/11/12. I'm doing good with fluids (46 oz today), but the Protein Shakes now make me nauseated. In fact, the thought of the shakes makes me nauseated. What will I do for Protein until I move to mushies? I've ordered some protein from unjury, but it won't be here for a few days.... I'd love to get some suggestions... Thanks!

    What Is "pb"ing?

so drinking Water helps by facilitating the pb? if you know it's stuck? How often does this happen once you've adjusted to the band and changed your diet? I understand that this is natural and every banded patient will experience it, but it's like pregnancy - worth it for the baby, but only through surviving a lot of gross stuff to get there...

    Banded Yesterday!

I was banded 10/11/12 and have the same chest tightness, like I need to burp but can't. I also still have terrible shoulder pain, but my abdomen isn't bothering me at all. I'll feel great when my shoulder pain goes away....my husband offered to stomp my toe so I'd forget about my shoulder...lol...I declined.
