Hi! My name is Carol King. I'm a 44 yr old female. I started my Weightloss journey years ago probably when I was a kid like many of you, but I actually started the process for surgery last year. Over the last 44 yrs, I have lost and gained weight time and time again. During one particular "diet". I lost almost 75#s and the eventually gained it back plus some. I start this current stage of my journey at 316#s. That was last November when I first started going to Deaconess Weightloss Solutions. I finished my supervised diet portion of the program by May of this year (2012), but unfortunately my body had other plans at that point. I might mention that other than arthritis and moderate sleep apnea I had no real health problems till May or so I thought. In May they sent the request letter to my insurance company (ChampVA) along with all the documentation they had to get approval for the surgery. I got the approval letter 2 weeks later. In the mean time they had me do some "pre-surgery" testing (namely blood work, chest x-ray, and EKG). Well the EKG came back abnormal so I had to do a stress test. The stress came back ok, but did prove I had had a silent heart attack at some point in time in the past. Anyway at this point I ended up in the hospital one night soon after looking like I was having another heart attack. Well after it was all said and done (multiple CT scans etc). I didn't have a heart attack but had other issues that needed to be dealt with first before proceeding with the Lap Band surgery. It was the beginning of Sept. before we got it all straight and taken care of. Finally we got to do the surgery. I had surgery done 10 days ago and as of right now I have lost 20#s in 2 weeks. With being on the liquid diet. Hope this story helps someone else.
