Pain When Im Hungry?
OMG I am soooooo glad I found you. I have been having this problem too and I didn't know if it was normal or not. What did you doctor say? I have been freaking out thinking something is wrong cause I shouldn't be feeling this so called hunger pain. It is such a horrible feeling and I can't stand it. I am like searching everywhere for anything to eat to make it go away. Today I got that severe pain in my lower stomach and I had to go to the bathroom. I felt like total crap was sweaty and thought I was going to throw up. I felt a lot better like 20 or 30 min later but it was horrible. What is going on? OMG I am so glad I saw your post.

Ulcers After Bypass
Hello RNY family, So until I can get in with my doc I am trying to find out what is going on with me. I get these really bad pains in my stomach that sometimes goes away after I eat and sometimes not. I get a sharp pain on my left side of my chest almost like under by breast that only happens here and there. The big problem I have is the stomach pain I get throughout the day every day. It gets so bad sometimes that it drives me crazy and I am frantically trying to find something to eat hoping it will help the pain go away. I am able to eat find and drink fine. Has anyone had this problem or have heard of this? Thank you

I have heard that too. I have always been ok drinking milk. Can I become lactos intolerant just like that? I thought if I was it would start from the beginning?

Weight Loss Is Slow
I was wondering that too but my bariatric nurse said they want you to be on food as soon as you can and after your stages of course and being safe about it. But my point is they want you to eventually get all your nutrition fromfood and we should lose faster too. So I don't know whats better. Maybe ask your doc or nurse. It is annoying though.

Stomach Pains
Good to know I am not alone. No I am not going regularly and I have had some problems with going to the bathroom. I usually go every 3 or 4 days and I have to take stool sofners. I stopped taking them and when I finally had to go to the bathroom it was the worst episode yet. I was in the bathroom for over an hour and the pain was horrible and I had to handle business (gross). It's been about 3 days since that and I have been taking my stool softner again and I hae gone 2 times now and it has been a lot better. I have been getting my Protein from food not shakes because I can't stand them anymore and Ithought that would help but I am still on the soft food stage so maybe after this week when I can go on all foods and I can start having salads and stuff I will go more regularly. So you think the pain is just from not going to the bathroom and getting stopped up? How come it feels better when I eat? Did yours feel better when you ate? Thanks again

Stomach Pains
Hey family, I have another question for you guys. I had surgery a little over a month ago and I notices about 2 weeks ago that I am getting really bad stomach pains and they seem to go away after I eat. The pain is just like crampy menstral pains not sharp pains. I feel like I just want to curl up and not move. I am assuming that it's my stomach saying hey you haven't fed me in like 2 or 3 hours and when you ate before it was 1/2 an egg so I am starving. That is what the nurse said as well but I was wondering if anyone else gets this. It's very frustrating because it does hurt really bad and makes me really irritable and I have to find something to eat ASAP to make the pain go away because it hurts so bad. Soooo am I weird or does anyone else get this. I was hoping that I would continue to not get hunger feelings but that only lasted about 2 weeks in the beginning.

Weight Loss Is Slow
Thank you DLCoggin, That makes me feel a lot better. I know you are right and I have to relax. I think the fact that I am just eating and not drinking my shakes have thrown me off thinking that I am not going to lose if I am eating my protein now and not drinking mainly shakes. I don't know it's probably in my mind but I am going to do what all you say and relax and just give it time and try to stay off the scale. It's only been a month since major surgery. Thank you again I appreciate the encouragement!

Weight Loss Is Slow
You have lost 33 pounds in a month. How did you lose that much more? What are you eating right now? Are you exercising? Do you count calories?

Weight Loss Is Slow
Hello FamiIy, I had surgery October 17th and I have lost 28 pounds. Today is my 4 week post-op. So I know that 28 pounds in a month is really good and I am happy for that but I was wondering if it is normal to be losing slow right now. I lost 20 pounds in the first week so that means I lost the 8 pounds in 3 weeks. Is it normal to lose slow like that in the beginning or am I doing something wrong? I guess I was expecting like 3-5 pounds a week at least. Any advise. Thank you

New ! Help !
I was going with the sleeve as well and only look into that and changed it to the bypass at the last minute so I know how you feel. I felt like I wasn't as prepared as I was for the sleeve but it's pretty simple and about the same risks as the sleeve. You shouldn't have any problems as long as you take all your vitamines and make sure you get your blood work done on a regular basis to make sure all your levels are ok. You get dumping with the bypass which you don't get with the sleeve. The bypass is reversable and the sleeve is not. My doc told me that the percentage of keeping the weight off with the bypass is 70% and it was only like 35% with the sleeve. Also you don't always lose as much with the sleeve as with the bypass. I think everything else is basically the same with them both. food restriction and you can't drink and eat at the same time. Just have to take like 1 more vitamine.

Gastric Bypass Way More Dangerous...
Welll, my doctor told me that the sleeve has more leaking complications than the gatric bypass but overall they both have the same risks for the most part. He said he was always more comfortable with the bypass because it's been around 30+ years where the sleeve has only been around here for like8 years. I was going to go withthe sleeve but after talking to my doc he convinced me to go with the bypass. I think it was the right decision for me. I hope this helps.

Let's Talk Constipation!
That's what stool softner I used and it seemed to work great. I haven't taken it in a few days and everything has been better. I still don't go number 2 very often. Like every 3 days or so. Are you drinking a lot of Water?

Chest Pains
I am a month out of surgery and I was wondering if anyone had chest pains in the beginning? I get this sharp pain on my left side like under my breast and I don't know if it's a bad thing or maybe gas. My stomach girgles a lot and has a lot of air bubbles so maybe it's that. That is the shoulder I had the gas pain in after surgery too so maybe it has something to do with that I am not sure.

Dizziness/vertigo
I got a bad case of vertigo when I was on a liquid diet and it was the worst thing ever. I was in the hospital and I couldn't walk around for about a week without throwing up and couldn't drive for like a month. It was bad. I think it was from the fast weight loss. I am not sure but if I got it doing that and you are getting it now I think it has to do with that. I am not a doctor though so I don't know.

Depressed To Realize It's Come To This.
Dont worry girl I felt the same way. The closer my surgery date came the more and more my mind tried to trick myself and say hey you can do this on your own you don't need the surgery. But let's be honest. How many years has it been you trying to do this on your own and failed? Exacally!!! So no you can't do it on your own you need the help. And let me just say since having the surgery, you are still doing it on your own. This is really just a tool. It's up to you if you want to lose it and keep it off or you want to keep going down the same route you always have. I have heard of people losing it and gaining it all back or not losing it at all, which I don't know if is really possible, but believe me when I say, YOU ARE DOING IT BY YOURSELF so don't feel like a failure. I did also until I got the surgery. Know I know this isn't any easier than doing it without the surgery. It just helps gives you an advantage of losing it quicker but you still have to do the right things in order for it to work. Keep your head up. It will get better. You will go through a lot of mind games after surgery too. Mine lasted about 2 weeks and now I am getting better. I hope I don't feel down again. I didn't like that. Good luck girl!
