  1. Oh Lisa... Damn... I wish I was the right person to tell you what you want to hear... damn it all... I have got to say... You know how a 3 yr old will test the parent... well it sure sounds like your three year old is testing you. from the outside looking in... it seems that your man is pretty selfish most of the time. He wants your attention only when sports are not on... he goes out with you on the weekend only when he starts to feel insecure... he knows you work two jobs but doesn't think to build himself a sandwich for dinner once in awhile or maybe even whip himself up a box of mac and cheese... he puts your home in jeopardy without a thought and buys a Harley???? Holy Crap girl!!!! How in the heck did he get financing for this Harley????? Does he have a truck or other toys that he can sell??? I can't imagine that he will step up to the plate and clean the house now that the maid is gone???? What can HE give up that will possibly come to 600 dollars or more a month. I'm sorry Lisa... God... I feel for you and know how scary divorce is... but I wonder... do you realize how wonderful you are???? Do you realize that you deserve to have a relationship with a real live grown-up that gives as much as they take???? You have been carrying the load and taking care of everyone elses responsibilities since you were a child... this doesn't have to continue. You deserve much better than this... and if it were me... I'd be packing his bags and parking them right next to his Harley and wishing them both well. Damn... I think I was supposed to just be supportive and send you ((((Hugs)))) but I just couldn't help myself. I think you are awesome and think you deserve so much more. Gross Darcy

  5. Hi Patty, Thanks so much for sharing your story! As a new bandster, it really helps to see the progression of the change of habits. Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in all of the changes and lose track of the fact that there is all the time in the world to develop these new habits. I hope that I am able to work as well as you have with my new band over time! Congratulations on your weight-loss and life change! Darcy
  6. Jen... Make sure they are pills that are okay to crush... okay??? Sorry... I'm a bit of a worry wart... but some pills cannot be crushed. Darcy

  10. Welcome Suz! In my humble opinion... losing weight fast is not a "good" reason for having the gastric bypass... especially if it will put your health at further risk due to an already present health condition. I think the Lap Banding is a great option that carries few risks in comparison to the GBP and it is adjustable and removable if ever the need would arise. With the gastric bypass you must consider that your body will not be absorbing nutrients as it was designed to. You may lose slower with the Lap Band... but you will not have to worry about malabsorption and it's longterm affects. I think it would be wise to follow the advice of your doctor and I can tell you there are oodles of people on this site that have been extremely successful with their bands. I have been banded for 4 weeks and have lost 22 lbs... I am totally happy with that rate of loss and I am relieved that I chose this WLS over the GBP. I also had a very quick recovery as opposed to my sister (had the gastric bypass) ... she didn't feel human for 6 wks post-op. I also love that my band is adjustable over time and that I don't have to worry about a "window of opportunity" for losing my weight. Wishing you the best as you choose the WLS that is right for you. Darcy
  11. Did ya get spanked??????
  12. Hi Tricia, Congratulations on being banded! I was allowed pureed foods on day 3 although I mainly ate things like NF yogurt... cream Soups that I pureed... NF pudding cups... Protein shakes (Unjury).... cottage cheese (pureed). When did your Doctor say you could progress to FULL liquids??? Darcy
  13. Awesome Janis!!! Congratulations on the weight-loss!!!! Looks like you are doing a great job with your new tool! Darcy
  14. Hey Kimberly, It was about 6 wks for me... it would have been 4 wks if my surgeon wasn't attending a conference somewhere out of the state. Hey Kiley... we are neighbors! There is a support group meeting in FDL the first Thursday of every month if you would be interested in attending. It is held at the Aurora clinic... I know I will be going in August. My sister had the gastric bypass with Dr. Wasco at Theda Clark as well. Let us know when you get a date Kimberly! Darcy
  15. Happy Birthday Jen!!!! I hope everything is going as planned with the purchase of your new home and that your Mom is getting better with each passing day! Have a very Happy Day and thank you so much for bringing me to this site! Darcy
  16. Welcome Jenni! I'm so sorry you are in pain... it will get better soon! If you are not crushing your pills...that may be adding to your discomfort... are you crushing your pills???? I don't know what meds you are taking... some may not be able to be crushed or broken in half? I know that I am only able to take one pill at a time... then I wait for at least an hour before I take another. I can tell you that it gets better...hang in there! You will find lots of support here... I have never known such a great group of people! Darcy
  17. Good Luck Tina!!! I imagine you will be too excited to sleep tonight... I know I barely slept a wink! I'm so happy for you and know everything is going to go perfectly. Please come back and let us know how you are doing when you are up to it. Have a wonderful trip! Wishes to you for a speedy recovery! Darcy
  18. Hi Blossom, It seems every surgeon has a different post-op plan... I was on clear liquids for two days... Full liquids for one day... Pureed foods for 2 weeks... then a Soft diet for two more weeks. I am officially on a Regular diet as of this Friday. Darcy

  25. Hi Cindy! This is a great place to share your successes and also a wonderful site for support and information. It sounds like you are working well with your new band... isn't it a wonderful feeling! I also considered the GBP after going to an informational meeting given by a surgeon that wasn't very pro-banding. I and VERY glad that my insurance did not cover that particular surgeon and I ended up seeing a surgeon that was very PRO-banding. I left that meeting feeling SO relieved because the thought of having the GBP scared the dickens out of me! I find myself wanting to scream from the mountain tops... "THERE IS A SAFER OPTION THAT WORKS!!!!!" It saddens me that some surgeons do not give an accurate view of how many people have been successful with the Lap Band. Wishing you much health and happiness on your Lap Band journey! Darcy
