  1. Hi EBHMom! I'm so glad you to see you here! This is a great site and I hope everyone is able to give you more information than I was able to on eDiets! Good Luck with making your decision for WLS and I so hope you join us here in bandland! Darcy
  2. Woo Hoo Teresa... You Go Girl!!!!!! I want to be just like you when I'm an 11 week old bandster! Darcy
  3. Your quite welcome Penni!
  4. Leo... you are a brave man indeed! Most men wouldn't have touched this post with a ten foot pole (no pun intended). As for me... I'll have to stick with the weenie cake as I am a recovering icecreamaholic... Shelly... I'll take mine without white frosting please.
  5. Welcome Iluvsammys, Congratulations on being banded! I am almost 4 weeks out from being banded and am very happy with the results! Everyone is very helpful, friendly and supportive here. Wishing you the best in bandland! Darcy
  6. I think it's a great idea Alex! I am scared to exercise in front of people at all, which make my exercise options pretty boring... treadmill...treadmill.... treadmill...LOL. I wish I could hire a private trainer to come to my home like Oprah does! I absolutely adore swimming but haven't done it for years due to my appearance... I can't believe I let weight stop me from doing something I love so much. ANyhoo... let us know how it goes! Darcy
  7. Hi LJ, I'm so glad that your wife is doing well and I'm sure she will have an uneventful recovery with such an attentive spouse! We welcome all with open arms around here and look forward to meeting your wife when she is feeling up to posting. Darcy
  8. Michelle... Your strength is amazing... I have one child and it has crossed my mind that I would go over the edge if anything happened to her. I pray that your family is on a road to a happier and healthier future, (((hugs))) WhippleDaddy... I think you are the winner of the most replies to an introduction post! 3 years ago I never would have imagined that "good" men existed... but when I found my husband I learned that they do exist. He has been so supportive even though I know he has his own fears about my getting thin. Leatha... Wow... I glad you are hanging with us now as are all making changes that will help us live. It is amazing how strong the human spirit is! When I worked in the hospital... I would get so attatched to patients... really put my heart and soul into caring for them... needless to say... I was absolutely destroyed if any patient ever died. Death is a part of life that I just haven't come to terms with yet. Strangely enough... if was my father's death... my brother's horrible motorcycle accident and my step-father's stroke (All within one month) that lead me to nursing in the first place. Sending wishes to all for a year full of goodness and positive change! Life has dealt us all different hands and luckily... we are all here to talk about it! Darcy
  9. THanks Michelle! Oh dear... you want me to be a good girl for another whole week?????? I'll give it a try! Darcy
  10. Hi Nanny, I don't drink for an hour after eating for the reasons Penni mentioned and also because I was told that if it doesn't wash your food down... it may come back up with your food! That was all I needed to know...LOL... didn't sound like a pretty picture! Darcy
  11. Hey Swampspy! I have the same trouble... it doesn't bother me that much not to drink with my meal... but after I am really thirsty. I am getting used to it though!! When I did try to drink something too soon... I was immediately hungry again so haven't broken the rule again. I am almost 4 wks post-op and looking forward to the rules seeming like second nature! Congratulations on your weight-loss so far!!!!! Darcy
  12. OMIGOD!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!! Me no lika da cake weenies with the white frosting... just toooooooooo... well... um... hard to swallow! Oh dear... (remaining nameless)
  13. Ohhh Debra... that stage is still veeeeery fresh in my mind! I was thrilled just to have applesauce and yogurt... not things I would have been tickled to have pre-op...LOL. You're right... a supportive almost band twin would go back to liquids... hmmmm... BUT... perhaps think of it this way.... I am TESTING out different foods FOR you ahead of time! A "Toast" to Debra... May the day of mushies come soon! Penni... The two slices of toast went down "slicker than snot" as my Grandma used to say! I'm sure that when my day arrives for my first fill my days of toast and jelly will become a distant memory! I don't think I will ever have the courage to try regular bread... sounds like a PB waiting to happen! Nancy... I almost wish I hadn't tried it... I was a total bread addict before and sure don't want to be again. It's funny though... I don't seem to crave carbs like I used to. I do hope I'll be able to have a slice of toasted bread now and then! A "Toast" to bread... may it always be toasted and never get stuck! Darcy
  14. Better Late Than Never! Glad you found us... tis a great group and I can't imagine what it would have been like to be banded without everyone here! Welcome! Darcy
  15. Wow... you guys look good together!!! You really are adorable with the red flower or without! Of course... the second picture really is the most flattering. Sorry about my earlier mistake... HOLY CRAP... 43 LBS... frigging FANTASTIC! Darcy
  16. Ummm... Great Big Bar in your livingroom???? Okay... that's it... I'm movin in! You look Fantastic girl... you should be SO proud of yourself!!!! Keep this up and the handsome doctor is going to make up surgeries just to be able to see ya nekked! Terry... Unfrigging Real!!! You are stunning! I hope I can make this band work as well as both of you have! Darcy
  17. I know... my hubby kept laughing at the look of total joy that was on my face as I ate that darn toast! He said I didn't look that happy even on our wedding day...LOL!!!!
  18. My hubby and I went out to Breakfast on Saturday (Firt time since being banded). I ordered one egg and toast... mind you... I haven't had bread in any shape or form post-op. Let me tell you... I have never enjoyed toast so much in my entire life!!! I felt guilty because I was actually able to eat 2 slices along with my egg... but then I thought... before ... I would have eaten 2 eggs... hashbrowns... bacon... and pancakes! I was addicted to bread/carbs prior to surgery so I am actually a little scared to add them back into my diet. I think the difference would be that now I crave Protein and not carbs... weird. I'm scared to death that I will lose restriction prior to my first fill... I am able to eat more now but still restricted enough to continue to lose weight and hope that will last until August 13th. Toast is beautiful and it is so amazing how much more I enjoy food now that I take time to actually chew and taste! I Love my Band!!!! Darcy
  19. HOLY SMOKE LISA!!!!! 42 LBS Down!!!!!!! FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would be dancing one the ceiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think we need a "BIG RED FLOWER IN OUR hair DAY"!!!!! ((((hugs)))) Darcy
  20. I made it... I made it!!!! That was the LOOOOOONGEST week of my life! LOL! I am soooo glad I did it though because it was awesome to see a bigger loss instead of a pound here... a half a pound there. Thanks so much for starting this challenge... I really needed to be held back from my scale! My weight today... 235 down from 239.4 last Monday. YAY!
  21. Sending positive approval vibes from not so far away! I remember that wait and it is a tough one!!! Hang in there and good luck!!! Let us know when you get the A OKAY. Darcy
  22. Just wanted to wish you a VERY Happy Birthday Leatha!!!! Hope nobody spanks ya! Darcy
  23. GAWD Lisa... I live in total fear of PBing!!! I don't wanna be in the in crowd... wanna be a Nerd Bander!!!! I did have an episode of severe pain when I think a pill got stuck and that was horrible enough... if everything had come back up... OY! I stuck to liquids the next day without ANY trouble...lol... it really scared the bajesus out of me! I am such a wuss! Nerd Dorkus Gross Darcy
  24. YAY!!!! I'm so excited for you! Isn't it wonderful to start making plans around a specific date???? I stopped drinking ANY carbonated beverages in the month before my surgery... stopped drinking with meals and directly after... and increased my Water intake. I really didn't diet ... just made those three changes that I thought would help me adjust to the banded rules. Wishing you the best .... soon you'll be in bandland! Darcy
  25. Welcome back Penni... so glad to hear that everything went so well and that you can get on with your band journey without worry! Now... everytime you touch your port site it will be like holding Dr. Billy's hand. Had to give you another visual to work with! Sorry about the RN incident... THe RN that started my IV was feaking awesome... I never felt a thing! Darcy
