  1. good luck!
  2. you need to wait a while for the scar to heal properly - my artist say about 6 months properly, otherwise it scars up again and the ink can either blur or be rejected. my skin seems to reject white ink no matter what so gonna have to have that redone post op... one of my tats is my profile pic! I just love getting work done and would love one around my side once I am smaller/post skin tightening op. I think its a great idea. because I LOOOOVE getting inked. love love love love love
  3. wow what was the documentary called? I've looked up some videos on youtube, but a proper documentary would be cool. and yeah, I am thinking similar, only since my surgery is before xmas, its more that I wont be able to do all those bingey things I did last year, and I'm ok with that... I think...
  4. *hugs* I am so so sorry hun, that must be very dissapointing @Sandy
  5. Well Ttailsharp, good luck! you're the first cab off the rack! I've got my fingers crossed for you that you're a) safe and sound and still able to get the surgery on Thursday.
  6. HI all. I'm having a dilemma. Every week at work we have a morning tea - and these are epic morning teas. I've been ok holding off so far (preop midway through week 2 of a 6 week preop diet) but its the leftovers that just sit there all day that I am having issues with. they stare into the back of my head. I am popping listerine strips and sucking on my strawberry iron pills to distract myself, but too much of either isnt a good thing either... Anyone have good coping mechanisms for these pre-op temptations?
  7. Congrats Karma Girl!!!
  8. I know others are saying that she's jealous, but I think its actually that some people have NO concept of what its like to battle with their weight. Like my Surgeon was saying, for some people food just doesn't 'do it' for them, and those people have no idea and no sympathy for the struggles we have gone though. I dont think she is going to be a very supportive person in your life, and honestly would consider dropping the relationship, because she could seeth like a toxic swamp and ruin any good feelings you have. My 'best friend' last night said something that really hurt me. I was talking about how another friend came over and bought pizza one night and Lagsane another night to eat in my house in front of me and how insensitive that was. She told me to 'suck it up'.... seriously, If I was an alcoholic and someone brought over a bottle of wine to drink in front of me would she react the same?? It made me really really angry
  9. this one is animated and lots of explaination - I found it really interesting
  10. yep - 6 weeks preop diet. A bit harsh I would say, I think my surgeon expects me to cheat - shows what he knows . 1 month to go!
  11. lol totally lesson learnt! I've been putting extra benefiber into my shakes and meals... well since last night at least, and it seems to have helped a little bit. still SO much gas though!
  12. YAY Leah!!! Surgery twins!
  13. Wow that was really interesting... And really really gross. I'm not sure if I feel better, or if I'm just enjoying the jejunojejunoscopy word...
  14. gross topic. I'm on week 2 of my preop optifast diet, and all of a sudden, now that my body has switched to fat burning mode, I have a lot of oral gas, and a very very noisy stomach which, when I can get anything to come out, is coming out literally liquid. I have started putting benefibre into my shakes/dinner which will hopefully help but this noise in my insides is insane! it even woke me up last night it was so loud. Has anyone else experienced this preop?
  15. oh also, my nurse said that they tell people you cant drink alcohol for 6-12 months after, but in reality by 3 months you can. You'll just get drunk quicker, sober quicker, but it stays in your bloodstream longer (so no driving or you'll get a dui), something to do with your liver processing the alcohol...
  16. I love beer - I'm a craft beer snob. I'm still preop but have managed to go to a few bars without drinking a beer... I get a straw, dip it in each of my friends beers, and drink the dribble full to taste it. Its not the same, I know, but my main interest with it is actually tasting it, not quaffing it... is that something you think you could try? or does it make it too much of a temptations Also, Beer is high carbs...
  17. yay! I have gotten to the stage of my (super long) preop diet where I start having energy again and smell a little chemically! I know its gross, but totally a good thing! went for an hour walk today in the sunshine, it was so nice I wish the weather had been better earlier in the day though otherwise I would have rolled around in the daisies! Spring is so nice! and I am in a SUPER HAPPY MOOD now! Amazing what a little exercise can do!
  18. yay R4snd I thought I would be the only one so close to the end of the month! Hospital Buddies!
  19. Yeah I had one - as a result I also need a year of therapy concurrently with the op etc... Otherwise the surgeon wouldnt have agreed to do the surgery
  20. Heeeyyyyyyy sexy lady. You just rekicked in my motivation, thanks
  21. Is there anyway you can eat your Protein in bar form rather than drink it? I have a feeling that the chewing would be positive for you. I have a 6 week pre op diet ahead of me (week one down and no massive cheating!) but I'm allowed a 'real' meal a day, and have a good variety of Optifast, different flavour shakes, Soups and different bars. seriously without the variety I would go insane. It might also pay to talk to your dietician about whether you can replace one of your liquid diets with a protein rich low fat low carb actual meal - something like grilled fish with garlic salt and lemon, and a salad. \ The optifast is great because I am feeling full all the time
  22. YAYAYYYYYY thats so exciting for you!
  23. I think it would make sense to get power of attorney and will done before hand... I dont know why I only just throught of that... ah dear, another expense
