    Cant Stop Burping!

Good to know it's not just me & my body bing weird. I had to have my priming saline removed at week two post op because the burping progressed to severe chest pain. Couldn't even deal with pressure from a sports bra. Doc says most likely my stomach swelled inside the band make things worse. Been kinda Bah-Hum-Buggie since he removed that saline. Haven't been staying full since my purée diet was falling straight through. It's subsided some since I started soft solids but still not staying full/content. Haven't thought about smoking since I quit for my surgery and I've been thinking about them for days to avoid eating more than I should. Need to hang on till I can get a fill & keeping myself busy. Harder to do since husband is traveling a lot this month & it's just me & the kiddos. One. Which is a cranky teen boy
  2. I am 5 days post op & can not stop burping. Has anyone had this haver surgery? I called my docs office and give how much extra air he had to pump in to ge past my liver could be a reason. Or that little bubbles are getting in when i swallow. Follow ALL post op instructions, no gassy foods & every time I swallow I burp. It driving me nutters. Any thoughts?
  3. Prezo & wallflower, Great to hear good results. I am only 5-ish days post op and I have not had to take my Lantus at all or my Humalog. Sugars are holding stable. Once my food intake & food types increases I expect to start the Lantus at 5 units & step up as needed. I've been in a lot of pain but I am thrilled not to have to inject 115 units every morning. Since my pancrease was damaged from other health issues I was wondering how I would do post op. so far I am thrilled. Oh and to the main question of this thread. Yes, loosing weight is more difficult for diabetics. That is one of many fundamental parts of diabetes. Even with well controlled sugars it's still difficult. Often folks with diabetis also have other health problems that will contribute to the difficulties in loosing weight. One of My problems is I am unable to work out at the levels I use to loose weight because of herniated disks (back surgery soon). That lack of exercise & eating too much = weight gain. I had lost 70lbs before my back injury & gained that and then some back. I have had a very healthy diet for the last 10 years. Room for improvement...absolutely. Eating too much is my other problem. No matter how healthy we eat too much of a good thing is bad. Wow...I think I have babbled on enough waiting for the pain mess to kick in Night ~Manda

  6. I'm just outside Charlottesville and am currently on my 6th day post op. the C'ville group seems to have died out. But I'd love someone to talk to as well. Where ate you having your surgery? I had mine at Martha Jefferson in C'ville.

    Embarrassing Sweat

Go to freshballs.com This is an all natural products that keeps you fresh & dry all day. I have hyper hydrosis (sp?) and the stuff worked amazing. My husband, teenage son and tween daughter all use it somewhere on their bodies. We all wore it as Busch Garden in August & feltretty good. They also started marketing to women, babies & feet. With names like, Fresh baby's bottom, fresh feet & Fresh Breasts!
  8. Lori is right Mark, always follow your docs instructions. I have come across some confusion in my instructions w/wording between my doc & the nutritionists sheets (btw: doc approved their sheets as well). I need to ask him about those. The question I have is can you use milk or soy milk in your Docs directions for Protein shakes / drinks. Bottom line is nothing too thick/heavy must be smooth puréed/blended shakes, no chuncks, no seeds or long fibers. I have been drinking shakes for years & made both my kiddos baby food so I have this part down pat. I know what blends well & what doesn't. Well mostly anyway Forgot my taste buds are usually wonky for a few months after surgeries. I had to add a banana to my shakes to give a little more flavor. Also, added a pinch of cinnamon. It was pretty tasty.
  9. I am day 5 post op & moved to shakes w/thin consistency on day 3 for my sanity & settle my stomach because The broth was giving me other problems as well. My guidelines say "a few days to 1 week" for stage 1 & 2. Then I have to be on stage 3 until week four post op. Call your doctors office, they should have someone available 24/7 to answer questions.
