  1. I agree wholeheartedly with your post. I am having trouble myself. I know it's my fault and there is no one else to blame. I have hypothyroidism, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, asthma, depression, diabetes... and just overall a bad attitude about food. I eat to solve all my problems. Now it's different.

Tomorrow is my surgery and I am going to stick to the diet. If I fail, I will try again.

Good luck with your surgery!! best thing you can do for yourself. See ya on the other side! ;)

  2. Thanks a lot Crystal! I never realized socks being important, But now I can see that. Working, I stand all day long and my feet would glide this and that way, my socks would crunch up or twist, it was very annoying. As of recently, I am no longer working, but I guess that just gives me more time for fitness! Yaaaah :)

  3. I had a haital hernia, and they took care of it while they did the band. They said it was effecting the esophagus also. My surgeon suggested I also get the bypass, I choose against it because I really did not want to have such a drastic surgery. Didn't want to have anything cut or anything that couldn't be reversed. I choose to stick to the lap band because to me it was safer and reversable yet can be a lifelong tool. He said, you are going to have to try harder and eat better, I said I will do that! So after the surgery.. No more reflux! I never even knew what a hiatal hernia was! Just one day I had bad reflux over any and everything! it was horrible . Now.. nothing and it feels wonderful let me tell you.

Wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide to do.! :)

  4. I am happy you burst that bubble and decided to do this. Many things it's an easy way out, but girl, you still do have to work hard at this. I truly thought.. Id get this band and it was gonna be magic! id only be able to eat about half a cup and be full.. oh hell ya! no.. it's not like that, at least not till you get to full restriction. Want it.. and want it like no other! It is such an awesome tool for sure! You'll do great! where ya where? and good luck to ya!! Ooh! and you having a high bmi might be enough to not have to do the pre diet as well, I didn't have to.

  5. Well here's something interesting I learned today!

I don't know if this is in Chris' book and I just missed it (I admit to not reading thoroughly), but when you're counting carbs you shouldn't count fiber. That's why you see Atkins products on the grocery store shelves say "net carbs" but their nutritional info shows more carbs, It's because it's not counting fiber in your total.

The reason is, fiber doesn't effect the glycemic index, aka your blood sugar. In fact, your body needs fiber. Not only is it good for you and your bowels, it's also bulky and helps keep you full.

So...an example. Today is a low carb day for me. I've had:

    41.6g Carbs

    -5.8g Fiber

    35.8 Net Carbs

So my carbs counted towards my daily allowance would be 35.8.

Just thought I'd share my latest research!

omg I love you! lol.. I was just asking my bf today if he knew what the "net carbs" mean. I use these wheat tortilla wraps and they have 5 net carbs yet they say 14 carbs in the back.. yes they included the fiber. I am so happy to know it doesn't effect the blood sugar levels! yay!!! :D and thanks much for the info! and Also girls.. those bars sound great! gonna check them out! Thanks!

  6. Hun.. please please go see your doc! if he is to expensive maybe call around and see if there is a cheaper one. I just recently stopped working, so I asked mine how much out of pocket will be, she said 50.00 doc visit, 100 for an adjustment.. not to bad.. considering the health issues you are causing yourself. Let us know how everything goes..!! good luck hun!!

  7. Check area for running stores.. I live in a small community but we have 2... the one I went to had me put on these flat shoes and walk on the treadmill while it videoed and analyzed my walking.. then they told me the kind of shoe I needed... they are BROOKS and they are AWESOME....

I know people love the minimalist shoes but I think if you are just starting the journey (sorry.. not sure where you are or started on weight)... heavier people need support. I felt I had NO support in the minimalist shoes.

ALSO, because I went to a specialist store per se... they let me just walk and walk and walk around for a good 20 min so I could make sure they didn't just fit and feel good right when I put them on.

I just thought of another resource.. if you don't know if you have a store close by.. find a gym or somewhere that may have a running club or organize marathons or 5k's and ask them if there is a store close by..

    Good luck!

I've pretty much just began my journey.. almost 3months now really getting myself into gear.. I've dilly dallied long enough. :)

  8. I'm such a noob when it comes to fitness. lol.. good socks? I did see some with some air vent around them, they were nike. lol. I found a place called foot solutions, I'll call them tomorrow. Didn't realize how hard it is to find a good place around here! damn florida. :)

  9. Ok.. Now I need to ask another question.. I went to sports authority and the "experts" there.. sucked and didn't offer me any real information other than my shoe size and that didn't even seem accurate. ><.. where did you all go to get fit? Thanks all for all your help.. means a lot!~

  10. Welcome and Congrats on getting approved!! YAY! .. that is such an awesome step ! Best decision ever I have ever made. :) I've only been banded almost 3 months and things are going well. Ups and downs.. you have a road ahead and it really isn't as hard as you'd think and it gets easier. The hardest part is the emotional eating if you are one of those as many are.. me .. oh yes! Once I get past that, omg.. I am soo golden! Just remember you are worth it to be happy, to feel great and live longer! wishing you all the success! *Hugs*!

  11. Thanks all of you!! and Crystal thanks for sharing your story!! OUCH! I definitely don't want that to happen! eep!

My bf owes me shoes.. so I am gonna have him take me lol.! thanks a ton guy and gals! <3

  12. Hiyas all! :)

Ok well, I wanted to see if there was anyone out there who can recommend a good pair of work out shoes. Walking, dancing. I am getting into the swing of things and at home while I exercise, I usually do it barefoot. I've read some say it's ok, while other's say it can cause stress on your ankles etc. ( from other sites ). I want every bit of help that will contribute to my success!

    Thanks in advance!

  13. Loss is a loss and congrats for that!! :) there are many out there who go through the same thing. What gets me is the.. "testing the limits" .. hun, I can tell you this and have known some who do this with the sleeve, and bypass as well, testing the limits is defeating the purpose of your tool. If you test the limits, you are going to stretch your pouch, and then you really aren't going to feel restriction because every little test you do, stretches it just a little more. Use the tool you have, and stretch YOUR limit but eating less and less and see how you feel, how long it takes you to get hungry, and you will find that more fulfilling and exciting!!! I wish you to all the success!! And Chaz, glad to see you are getting to were you want to be.

    **hugs to you both**!
