  1. What a great article! I really needed to read this as well. I am one that didn't get to much information being banded. Ya, I got a little booklet which stated my post op which was all fine and dandy, but nothing in depth. I sadly learned most from LBT, which I couldn't be more thankful for. I am one of those, ( which I hate ) that doesn't ask to many questions.. A person that squeeks is a person that gets greased? ( the saying goes something like that ) lol.. Words of wisdom thank you so much!

  2. I am on the other side now and struggling a little. I feel like I am hungry all the time but that could all be in my mind. I am only 2 days post op and feeling a bit better than yesterday except for the hunger. Oh did I mention the first bowl movement you have can be quite painful?? I just spent 20 mins trying to get one bm out. Sorry for the tmi.

ya, the struggle int he beginning happens to us all.. you will feel better soon!! :) and it's natural to feel hungry in the beginning.

  3. Hey there shanae! You definitely came to the right place! Ask away anything that concerns you and I am sure many here and answer your questions. Shoot me a PM anytime!

I am a pretty new bandster. I was banded Oct 22nd 12. I could have not made a better choice for myself. There has been up's and downs, nothing physical, but emotionally. For me that has been the hardest thing to conquer, to accept, I need to do this to free myself from my prison of being an obese girl. It has been actually pretty easy, it is just hard when my mind wants this and that, but that is the key point we have to change. It is a lifestyle change for sure and you have to really WANT to cure yourself. Anything else you'd like to talk about, I'm here.. Good luck with your decision and I hope you find all the answers you need. Do it for you. **hugs*!

  4. Well it is said that if you get hiccups after you eat, it is a soft stop to let you know, it's time to stop. I however got these hiccups after I got my 3rd fill. I was hiccuping before I even ate anything lol.. but it has subsided a bit now, but I do get them before and after I eat. Weird right?

  5. hehe Thanks Lee! and Good morning! :) I'm glad I waited, I didn't want to be to rash into something I didn't feel was right. I am a 4E as well, glad I got to know a little about my feet and yes, that is a store for assisted living residents. lol I'll keep looking until I find the right shoe for me. Going to ask about the adrenaline. Thanks so much for your help.. and never worry about preaching, I love to hear details and passionate people! I'll keep ya posted!

  6. Hiya and welcome to the forum!! Glad everything is going well :) Man, I had my surgery at 8am, woke up and they said ok.. get dressed, time to go home! I was like omg what? lol.. but I was fine.. walk walk walk and by the 3rd day give or take, you feel so much better. This forum is a godsend! Many many positive people so learn learn! :) Keep us posted how you are doing! COngrats!

  7. I went to foot solutions today, and they had me try on a couple pairs of shoes although they didn't have much selection. I did like the Brooks addiction. I have a very wide foot and my arch is on the medium to high. I tend to lean my weight on the outter side of the shoes. I didn't want to buy something right away, I wish there was a place with a bigger selection. That shoe is a walking shoe btw. I am really thinking of that one.. but my search continues!

  8. I love the band. I honestly and truly believe it is the best thing I could have done for myself. I am not the hardcore strict person, and I am not the person who will test my limits as well, well rarely anyway! I am about 3months post op, and I have not had 1 problem yet. Nothing has ever came up, never vomited, nothing ever got stuck.. thank god! :) I choose the band like all the reasons above, because to me it is less evasive. I didn't want something that there was no return from. I wanted something that could aid me for a lifetime. I have lost 43lbs with just following rules and still having things I enjoy.

I have known only 2 people with the sleeve. BOTH have gained their weight back. One never learned how to eat and change their lifestyle.. and the other only lost 40lbs total and even gained that back because even though your stomach is cut off, you can stretch it to the way it was before surgery. She tested it time and time again, I would get so angry with her and this was before I decided I was going to get the band, we would go out to eat... and she would order her usual plate and eat half and would feel full, and say I can still eat more and she would. DEFEATING the whole purpose of her tool, since they are all tools to aid. Another with the bypass, lost sooo much weight.. gained 60% back.

Everything has it's ups and downs. But it goes to show you, that no matter which you choose you will have to change your lifestyle for it to work for the long haul, any diet can give us a quick fix, but we wouldn't be doing this if we just wanted another quick fix, just to gain it all back again. I really hope you make the best decision for you afterall you are the one who will be living with the decision you make. Good luck and Keep us posted how you are doing!! Much success no matter what you choose :)

  9. if you are feeling to hungry with the small amounts 5 times a day... try to keep it to a cup of food 3 times a day.. that way you are more satisfied? Of course ask your Dr about it and see what he tells you.. I know most eat between 1/2-1 cup per meal 3 times a day.. because the band if suppose to help you feel satisfied for 4hrs ish.

  10. Nurse, Missbritt, and Maden.. Go get your fills! They will help you so much. I had surgery on Oct 22nd and Had my 3rd fill on Jan 6th.. I made an appt for the next one at the dr's office to make sure I go in and get them. I didn't feel restriction till my 3rd and now I feel great!! Madein, I hear you with the 5lb yo yo I was going through the same thing.. get your fills ladies, no need to feel hunger! I have 6cc now in my 14band.

I eat about 1000cals a day, my Surgeon said to stay between 900-1200. Getting back into the swing of things and feeling good again.. Now to stay on the straight road :) We Are worth it!
