I have RA but mine is mild so far. I have periods of flare ups where everything aches horribly (cant even bend my fingers or toes) then after a few weeks it goes away. Usually only flare every couple months or in high stress times so I don't take a daily medication. I was not having a flare during surgery and my recovery was essentially fine. Sorry' date=' I don't exactly relate since mine only flares but I do know how you feel. RA is no fun at all.[/quote']I have mine under control with all my meds. So I only flare up with bad weather (rain for days). I have to take my meds though. Hoping that losing weight and eating different will eventually put me in remission. We will see.

I have Sjogrens and my healing process was not bad at all. You will just need to rest the first week. Good luck !!I had never heard of Sjogrens, and looked it up! That's a lot like RA!! Sorry you have to go through that. Hopefully getting the band helps us and gets us healthy!!! Thanks for posting:)

I am due at the hospital in 11 hours! How do I feel? Well' date=' sort of terrified! I am not soo afraid of the surgery but now that the reality of it is just around the clock..... I hope I can handle it. I had a glass of wine with dinner. When I was done, I poured the rest of the bottle down the drain. How weird! I am going on a cruise in two weeks (clearly planned before my surgery!!) and the doctors assures me I will be fine. It's funny, how you can want something so badly but, when the reality of it is near.... careful what you wish for. Well Good luck to all of us who will be changing our lives tomorrow!![/quote']You will do great!! Sending you no gas pains and quick healing!!!! Keep us posted!!!!

Injectables are the way to go. Enbrel has been amazing. No oral medication ever helped me like this does.Did surgery and healing go well for you?

I was diagnosed with RA last week. The meds the doc put me on ripped my stomach apart' date=' so we are trying a new med starting tomorrow. If these do not work, I have to do injectables. I hope that it works! My healing process was ok. It did take a bit to feel better, I felt like I got hit by a truck, but as I have read here, that is not different than anyone else. I went home from the hospital the same day, but three weeks until I started to feel like myself again.
I hope that helps some! Good luck to you![/quote']
Thanks!! I just wanted to see if it was the same as others! I take etodolac, sulfalazine, plaquenil, and a crap ton of Vitamins.

I was wondering if anyone that had the surgery has RA and how was the healing process? I'm due to have my surgery on Nov. 16th.

Haven't got my surgery yet. If you are already not smoking why not just quit? It's hard and it sucks, but its totally worth it!! I love smoking but I know it not good for me. I used the app by livestrong dare to quit. It's just like this forum but for people who are quitting smoking. Take a look at it. I know you can do girl!!!! Wish you the best!!:)

I'm Becky from the DFW area. I'm 36' date=' a mom to 3 great kiddos, and so ready to be the best mom I can be. I had my consult with Dr. Smith's office yesterday. Unfortunately, my insurance has an exclusion for bariatric surgery, but my amazing family has found a way for me to have surgery. I am calling Monday to get the ball rolling. Going in, I had wanted the gastric sleeve procedure, but have decided to go with band with plication. Shooting for a surgery date around the first of November.I look forward to getting to know you all![/quote']
Hey Becca!! I'm also from DFW and I'm having to pay as well. Dr Smith will be doing mine on Nov. 16th!
