  1. Questions to ask yourself.......

Am I losing inches? (clothes looser) Often times with an increase in working out you will not lose or even gain, but you will actually get smaller. You will have increase your muscle tone, muscle weight about what fat weighs but takes up less space so you body actually is smaller, but your weight doesn't show it.

Am I sticking to my alotted amounts? This can be a hard thing, but remember if you don't you can cause band problems and you don't want that.

Am I eating Protein and healthy foods? You can be eating less but still be eating junk. Good lean Proteins, complex carbs, veggies, and fruit. These will help to stay full longer and lead to not wanting a snack.< /p>

What is my salt intake? Salt can cause Water retention which weighs a lot more than you think.

What is your Water intake? Water helps flush out the salt and keep your body hydrated. While it sounds odd that more water will create less water retention it does. The excess water you take in flushes your cells and your body feels like it can let go of the excess because you aren't going to dehydrate it.

Thanks!!! I needed to read this as well!!

  2. okay...today's 3 months since surgery....43lbs down....which is an awesome feeling...but I really would like my hair to stop falling out everyday :( Apparently it should start going back to normal after 3 months...we'll see, taking Biotin, upping my Calcium in my food, hitting the Protein goals, nobody can give me an answer though

It's because you are not getting at least 60 grams of protein a day. Eat more protein or shakes and it will stop. Promise.

  3. I am in my plateau right now. I have only been banded for 2 months. I did really well the 1st month with a 27 lb lost, and in the last month have only lost 1 lb. However, I am trying not to feel to discouraged. I know everybody is going to hit a plateau at sometime, and probably more than once on their weight loss journey. I just look at it as being part of the deal.

I was banded Nov. 16th and I have been hitting a plateau. Losing very very slow. I really need to make better choices and work out more. I'm sure if I ate a little better it would start to come off. I get my next fill tomorrow and hope I can lose 6 lbs this next month!!

  4. My doc and all of the staff are so nice and there to help!! My doctor has had lap band for 10 years. I had my post op appointment where I saw 2 nurses. As I was leaving my doc saw my husband and asked how I was doing. So I turned the corner and said I was doing great and he high fives me and have me a hug and said I'm so happy to hear that!! They explain everything so well and are there to answer any questions I have. I'm pretty sure my doc does my first fill and I have to do a class before, then nurses do fills after that. They do group meetings every Tuesday. I'm self pay and I get all first year fills with the $9,900 for surgery. I'm happy as could be with my Doctor!!!

  5. I have RA as well and my doc said they haven't don't any studies on NSAID drugs' date=' that's why they don't want you to take them. However he has been doing lap band over 10 years and has seen no problems with them and said I could take my Etodolac. I'm still going to talk to my RA doc to see if there is any thing else I can take to make me feel more comfortable. My doc has had lap band himself for 10 years.[/quote']

    Done not don't.

  6. Thanks guys! You were helpful! I will be meeting with my surgeon next week about this. Now after hearing you all talk about the Nsaid drugs I am on celebrex which is another Nsaid drug and I can't imagine life without it due to Rheumatoid Arthritis.

  7. Hi' date=' yes you all were right. I did get enough pills to last me several days. I just wound up taking one. Hopefully, they will make me drowsy and will fall asleep. Maybe this is TMI but I have been peeing so much because of the IV fluids and every time I finally get comfortable in my chair, I have to get up to use the bathroom. I just had a really nasty Protein shake (chocolate mint) but of course I am still hungry, lol! The shake was just a sample I purchased. Thank God it wasn't a big container.[/quote']

Just make sure you keep hydrated! You should be drinking an ounce every 15 min. Sip away! I peed a lot. Don't take actual gulps yet or big drinks. My doc said take pain meds 30 mins early so your not having any pain. I took mine an hour before scheduled time. Sounds like your doing great!!! :)

  8. Starshine33' date=' when is your post-op appointment and when us your first fill?

    My post-op is Dec. 3

My first fill is Dec. 11

Dec. 11th seems so soon. . . I guess I'm worried about the soreness! Hopefully it'll be gone by then![/quote']

Mine post op is Nov 27 and fill is Dec 10th! I feel like the fill is very soon as well compared to what others say. Your doc numbs the area(mother in law was banded by Snow), mine doesn't at all:( I hope we can't feel our incisions by then. Well really I can only feel my big one.

  9. Yes! I do have plain Protein (Unjury). . .haven't decided what to put it on or in yet! Do you have any suggestions? I can have:

    broth

Creamed Soups Blended (chicken' date=' Tomato, potato)

    Protein shakes

    Yogurt (no fruit)

    SF jello/pudding

32 or more Water a day

Anything I can put in a blender (ie, smoothies)[/quote']

Good! That's what I have!! TIP: you have to dig to find the scoop!! I put it in my soups. Just read heating instructions(stove is best). You can also put it in cold stuff as well! That way you don't have to worry about all them shakes!
