Relativism is the philosophical position that all points of view are equally valid and that all truth is relative to the individual. This means that all moral positions, all religious systems, all art forms, all political movements, etc., are truths that are relative to the individual. Under the umbrella of relativism whole groups of perspectives are categorized. In obvious terms, some are: cognitive relativism (truth) - Cognitive relativism affirms that all truth is relative. This would mean that no system of truth is more valid than another one and that there is no objective standard of truth. It would, naturally, deny that there is a God of absolute truth. moral/ethical relativism - all morals are relative to the social group within which they are constructed. situational relativism - that ethics (right and wrong) are dependent upon the situation.

RedAntz, you might want to try the 5 Day Pouch Test. Today was day 3 of the 5 day pouch test and I'm very glad I cancelled my fill appt yesterday. I ate 3/4 cup of chicken salad for lunch (12:00) and it kept me satisfied until dinner at 7:00 PM (1 cup of tuna salad). It's definitely given me back my restriction. The next time I feel like I may need another fill, I may try liquids for a couple of days just to see if that restores it. Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

Evidently in Canada, if the cell doesn't fit, you must acquit (release)... http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/n...9-f49128462874 Canadian prison authorities were forced to release a 450-pound (205 kg) drug gang member this week because he was too large for his cell, the Journal de Montreal newspaper reported on Wednesday. Michel Lapointe - known as Big Mike - was arrested in September 2006 and received a five-year sentence in May this year. The paper said he could not fit on the chair in his Montreal prison cell and when he went to bed, his body protruded six inches (15 cm) on either side. A letter from the authorities to Lapointe said: "You have been detained for more than 25 months and your prison conditions are difficult because of your health". The authorities also cited the refusal of two other facilities to accept the 37-year-old. He was freed late on Tuesday. "I'm going to have a proper bed and finally have a chair I can sit in," he told the paper outside the prison. "I want a normal life. I've done some stupid things and I've paid for them," he said.

I was hired for my second job!
Congrats on the 2nd job and sorry about your DIL. It must be a bit crowded with everyone living together but I bet it's nice to have everyone together, especially over the holidays.

I won't be going to the conference in NY/NJ next March. But if they have one here in Houston sometime next year, I definitely will go. I'm hoping that I will have reached goal by next summer and will be shopping for a PS specializing in WLS patients.

Pay for the band! Poll!
Ditto on the insurance, the doctor, the cost and the chant!

Do you use your treadmill?
Band_Groupie, it sounds like you and I have the same treadmilll. I love it. The only problem is that it does get to be boring if you don't vary it up. I was using it consistently and even for couch to 5 k until my knee flared up and I was told to rest it for a week or two. I did, the pain went away, but I got out of the habit of exercising. I'm starting back up Friday.

180 5'2" bmi 33 ohio
Missy, I wish I had done the lap band at 180 lbs, even at 160 lbs. My understanding is that if you have 40 lbs or more to lose, you are a candidate for the band. Read through more of these threads, read up more on the band and you will realize that your fear of losing to much weight is groundless.

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Good morning. I'm on day 3 of the 5 Day Pouch Test and wondering WTF? The first 2 days are liquids and I expected to have some weight loss but I got 0! My DH is doing it with me just for kicks and he lost 3.5 lbs!

July Butterflies Master Thread
I'm now on Day 3 of the 5 Day Pouch Test. You'd think after 2 days of liquids, I'd lose some weight, but NOOOOOO, not an ounce. I want to break 190 so bad I can taste it. The last day of the 5 Day Pouch Test is Friday and by Saturday moring I'd better be below 190!

Can I get the phone number for God or is it unlisted? You say you know what God has to say on this matter but what you think you know is what has been taught to you in your church, bible school, bible college and the Bible which was originally penned by a man and then translated and retranslated dozens of times. I'm not convinced that the Bible is the word of God. It is full of cruelty and intolerance and a bunch of mumbo jumbo that quite frankly has no relevance or applicability in today's world.

I don't understand "getting stuck"
I haven't PB'd or thrown up since being banded in July. I've had a couple of episodes of sliming which have lasted for less than 5 minutes at a time. I think I have decent restriction, yet as I stated before, I'm usually in a state of semi-hunger.
-
I don't understand "getting stuck"
I've had 4 fills and have some restriction; in fact canceled an appt. today for a 5th fill becasue I'm afraid of over restriction. Even with restriction, I have hunger. I stop eating because I feel the discomfort in my pouch which chases away hunger but as soon as discomfort passes, hunger returns. I just live in a state of semi-hunger.

Did I overreact?
I take it you two have never had a discussion about pornography. My husband and I both agree porn is stupid so we don't have it in the house, but if he liked porn and wanted some mags, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. Porn on computers is another matter entirely.
